The club joined the Football League in 1905 and are the 24th oldest playing club in the entire Football League. They are the fifth oldest club in League One, whilst Town are the fourth youngest (131 years to 104 years). In 1936 with the club's move to the Leyton area of London saw the birth of 'Leyton Orient' following the conclusion of the Second World War. Leyton was dropped some years later with the borough of Leyton being absorbed into the bigger Borough of Waltham Forest in 1966. However, the club returned to be known has 'Leyton Orient' in 1987 following a change in Chairmanship and a supporters campaign. Orient's one and only top flight season was in 1962/1963, when they finished bottom of the 22 League teams, winning just six of the 42 matches played. Brisbane Road or as it is now known Matchroom Stadium has like many of English football stadia enjoyed a degree of change and re-development over the recent years. The ground as enjoyed three newly built stands with the corners populated by residential apartments! The club does have plans to develop further, however Orient remain interested in moving to the 2012 Olympic Stadium in Stratford, East London following the conclusion of the games, but that move could be well on hold depending on what the Olympic Committee wants to do with the stadium following the ending of the 2012 London Olympic Games. Town supporters will be accommodated in the South End of the Main Stand (East Stand) with a visiting capacity of around 1,400. The Stadium itself boasts a capacity of 9,271 (all seater). The East Stand is the only stand at Brisbane Road not to have been recently redeveloped. It was opened in 1956. The West Stand at the stadium offers an impressive array of conference and banqueting facilities. The newest Stand is the North Stand which commenced operation for the start of the 2007/2008 season. North Stand: 1,351 The East Stand (home & away), West Stand, and the designated family stand (North Stand) can accommodate disabled supporters.Brisbane Road's commercial title "The Matchroom Stadium" is named after the club's charismatic chairman Barry Hearn's sports promotion company - Matchroom Sport. Many locals still refer to the stadium as "Brisbane Road" however. The Stadium is located approximately 12 miles from Junction 27 of the M25 and a 5 minute walk from Leyton Tube Station.
