Rochdale (Away) | League One | Tuesday September 28 2010 (19:45 k/o) Early ticket news regarding the tickets for the 20.8 mile journey to Lancashire in late September to face Keith Hill's Rochdale side. Early awareness, these tickets are not on sale for the All Ticket clash. For more information click here. - Our Tribute to Mr Alan Driscoll thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Alan Driscoll. For many years this gentleman brought Huddersfield Town to her supporters through the Huddersfield Examiner. - Goodwin leaves Town Battling midfielder Jim Goodwin, a signing from Scunthorpe United under former boss Stan Ternent in June 2008 has left the Galpharm Stadium after a mutual decision to end the Irishman's Town contract. Goodwin who was transfer listed in summer leaves only popular Gary Roberts as player at Town not signed by the current management team or through the Academy. That was the only action of the transfer window which closed without any further additions or exits. Fears that talented Theo Robinson could be moved on were somewhat alleviated earlier in the day when it was announced that Robinson picked up a knock during the Cup defeat at Everton for the reason for the big man missing the match at the weekend and that Lee Clark hoped Theo would be fit for the match this Saturday. For Goodwin he ends a career which saw him make over 40 appearances for Town in a relatively short space of time scoring once in the league. Indeed he was on the bench for Saturday's league victory over Charlton Athletic and last January spent the second half of the season on loan at Oldham Athletic as he found opportunities at Town limited. Ending his Terriers career both the manager and CEO paid tribute to a hard working midfielder who did everything that was ever asked of him, with Lee Clark promising to help the 28 year old to find a new club and Nigel Clibbens saying he was a "terrific professional". We wish Jim all the best. - Three Terriers called up! Alex Smithies (England), Scott Arfield (Scotland) and Graham Carey (Republic of Ireland) have been called up for their respective national Under 21 squads for matches this week. It means they will all miss the Saturday home fixture with AFC Bournemouth, should it go ahead. - McCombe in League Team of the Week Big summer signing Jamie McCombe was rewarded for what was argulbaly the best performance in a Town shirt by being picked for the League One team of the week. McCombe not only put in a commanding display at the back with partner Peter Clarke, but he also scored with a trademark header on 42 minutes to put Town into complete control against Charlton Athletic. The Press Association select the nPower team of the week and the full team can be found here.- |

Swindon Town (Away) | League One | Saturday September 25 2010 (15:00 k/o) Tickets are now on sale for the 190 miles journey to the West Country in late September to face Swindon Town at the County Ground. Tickets are on General Sale. For more information click here. -
Charlton Athletic (Home) | League One | Saturday August 28 2010 (15:00 k/o) Follow our live Tweets - bringing you the latest score and goals as they go in! After the disappointment of two heavy away defeats in a week Lee Clark will be hoping to use the first of two consecutive home league matches as a springboard to kickstarting the season. After looking impressive and controlling proceedings for the first 47 minutes last Saturday at Peterborough United, a mad 15 minute spell allowed the home side to take complete control and run out 4-2 winners. Then in midweek the Terriers exited the Carling Cup following a 5-1 defeat at the hands of Premier League Everton. Saturday's match will be no easier and after the home fans witnessed a battling Tranmere Rovers take a point in a 0-0 draw during the only home league match to date. They will be hoping that Town will be able to find the nonce to breakdown stubborn teams, but should find fellow promotion hopefuls Charlton a lot more adventurous than Tranmere was. This game could also see new striker signing Alan Lee make his debut following his midweek move from Crystal Palace. Anthony Pilkington will miss the game through the ankle injury that saw him miss the defeat at Goodison Park. Also definitely missing is Lee Peltier who was sent off (two yellows) on Wednesday evening. Left back Gary Naysmith (toe) and Alex Smithies (thigh) sustained injuries during the same match and are doubts. It's headaches for Lee Clark has he looks to get his side back into the winning mentality and give the home support its first taste of victory this season. Clark has said him, his management team and players are in a positive frame of mind ahead of the League One fixture with much fancied Charlton. Clark who was clearly knocked by the heavy defeat at Everton in the Carling Cup is aiming to taste better times again starting with the downfall of Phil Parkinson's Charlton side starting with firming up a defence that's shipped nine goals in a week! Huddersfield Town win (home): 11/10 Special Odds: 25/1 - Score at half time 1-0 to Huddersfield Town, score at full time 2-1 to Huddersfield Town. - Recent big away followings! Since 2004 13 matches have seen the Town travelling army total over 3,000 in numbers. Wednesday night's trip to Goodison Park for the Carling Cup (League Cup) Second Round tie was the 13th such occurrence since 2004. The list is still topped by the 6,126 that travelled to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the FA Cup in 2008. Six of the top 13 have also occurred since 2009 (or the last three season's) with last season's 3,920 the highest travelling support of 2009/2010 taken to Newcastle United in the League Cup. That just beat the highest league following of 3,909 taken to Oldham Athletic for a Sunday afternoon fixture in November 2009. This season Town have already taken over 3,000 supporters to two of their three away matches and had a credible number of supporters at Peterborough United last Saturday afternoon. The 3,161 from Huddersfield at Notts County on opening match day made up 30.5% of the total attendance that afternoon and continued the excellent travelling support during 2009/2010 when Town fans regularly made up a large %age of total support, notably the cup matches at Port Vale (FA Cup) and Rotherham United (JPT) and Chesterfield (JPT). Here's the list of those 13 matches: 6,126 - Chelsea (2008) - FA Cup - |

He has become manager Lee Clark's 10th summer signing prior to the closure of the summer transfer window. The Republic of Ireland born player who wears number nine for the Eagles, joined Palace from Ipswich for £600,000 in the summer of 2008, having scored goals wherever he has been. He has also featured for Cardiff City, Rotherham United, Burnley, Port Vale, Torquay United having started out as a trainee at Aston Villa. In 310 league starts (a further 91 from the bench) Lee has scored 94 goals, and is expected to cost Town in the region of £300,000. During his career that started out in 1995, he has cost £1.8 million in transfer fees and at 6ft 1inch in height, he could be the big target man Town are somewhat lacking in the squad, and will add extra depth to it. Although, a signing of Lee's nature could spell the end of other players Town career and give Lee Clark an extra selection headache! The list of new signings are: Scott Arfield, Joey Gudjonsson, Gary Naysmith, Ian Bennett, Lee Croft (6 month loan), John McCombe, Graham Carey (6 month loan), Joe Garner (6 month loan) and Damien Johnson (season long loan). The signing of Lee is the last of the summer transfer window, although Clark did not rule out either players leaving the Galpharm Stadium, or loan signings dependant on the injury situation. - |

Terriers on verge of signing Lee? Sources at Crystal Palace have said that they have agreed a fee for 32 year old Irish born striker Alan Lee to see him become Lee Clark's latest recruit. If confirmed, Lee would become the 10th signing of the summer. Officially there is no comment from the Galpharm Stadium, but Palace boss George Burley has told a London newspaper that the player is in talks with Town. Although the Scotsman does not want to lose the big centre forward, he accepts that Town can offer him improved terms and a longer deal. Peterborough United v Huddersfield Town Follow our live Tweets - bringing you the latest score and goals as they go in! Tomorrow afternoon the Terriers visit London Road as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the new League One season against Gary Johnson's Peterborough United side. Peterborough's current home form is patchy winning just twice in their last six home league matches scoring 10 goals and conceding 8 whilst loosing the other four. In contrast the Terriers have won 3 and lost three of their last six away matches scoring 11 times and conceding seven times. United currently sit in 13th place having won one and lost one and last Saturday conceded five at League Two promoted side Bournemouth in what many locals to London Road would describe an horror show. As some are stating the new regime at the Posh is facing testing times" and are only confident that Lee Clark's Huddersfield Town side will add to those increasing woes. Town looked slick on their travels in the opening round of League One fixtures, pulled off a late battling victory at Carlisle United in the First Round of the League Cup, but failed last week to break down a stubborn and determined Lee Parry-led Tranmere Rovers side who left the Galpharm Stadium with a credible draw. It's now four matches without defeat for the Terriers and it is our hope that Town will continue their recent good form find the flow of the Notts County performance and claim another positive three points on the road to set the squad up well for Wednesday night's visit to Premier League Everton. Of the previous nine matches Town have won four of them, so here's hoping for a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon. Supporting Huddersfield Town True Blue Terriers. Peterborough United (Away) | League One | Saturday August 21 2010 (15:00 k/o) The latest round of League One fixtures takes the Terriers to London Road to face a Peterborough United looking to bounce back following a dismal 5-1 defeat at Bournemouth last week. After the opening round of matches the Terriers and Posh were one and two in the table, but following that defeat and Town's 0-0 tie with Tranmere (home) that changed last Saturday. Lee Clark will be forced into making a change to his side for the first time this season due to left back Gary Naysmith's suspension. The Scottish international was sent off for a second caution during the 0-0 draw with Tranmere Rovers last weekend on 85 minutes. Saturday's nPower League match will be refereed by Iain Williamson from Berkshire. It will be Williamson first taste of League One action his previous two matches have both been in League Two. In two matches he has yet to give an expulsion but as shown 9 yellows cards an average of 4.5 per match. His last experience of officiating an Huddersfield Town game was from the FA Cup in December 2005 when Town won 1-0 at Worcester City a game settled by Chris Brandon's second half strike. Williamson appeared to harshly send off Town winger Danny Schofield just before the break. He also was 'man in the middle' for the 3-3 draw at Ashton Gate (September 2004) and the 1-0 victory at Torquay in February 2004. He has an habit of sending Town players off in the only other fixture (3-0 defeat at Luton Town in March 2003) he showed red to Kenny Irons after 53 minutes! His last experience of Peterborough United came in a League One match at London Road. The home side drew 2-2 with Oldham in December 2008. He dished out six yellow cards that afternoon! Williamson who works in the financial sector is an experienced National List referee having joined the Assistants List in 1999 then the Referees List in 2002, having first qualified as a referee in 1991 at the age of just 15. The Terriers remain the only side in League One not to have conceded a goal yet this season and they kept a clean sheet in the 1-0 League Cup victory at Carlisle United. Of the nine matches played in Peterborough, 4 have ended with Town wins, 3 for United and 2 draws. United's 15 goals is 2 more than Town's. The last Terriers victory at London Road was 2-1 in April 2005, Chris Brandon and a late winner from Danny Schofield helped Town record a 'double' over the Posh that season. But after last season's one year stay in the Championship following second place from League One in 2008/2009 Gary Johnson will be hoping to guide his side back onto winning ways having started the season one of the favourites for promotion. Due to Peterborough playing in a all blue shirt at home, the Terriers smart red and black vertical stripe 'away' kit will once again be used this season. Peterborough United win (home): 7/5 Special Odds: 7/2 - Huddersfield to win to nil. Peterborough United win (home): 6/4 Special Odds: 35/1 - Jordan Rhodes to score the only goal in a 1-0 Huddersfield Town victory. Peterborough United win (home): 11/8 Special Odds: 8/1 - Huddersfield to lead after 20 minutes. In October this year the Stadium Managing Director Ralph Rimmer is to leave his post to take up a role with The Rugby Football League as Chief Operating Officer. It brings the curtain down on an 11 year association Rimmer has had with both KDSL (the managing company of the Galpharm Stadium) and as CEO of the Huddersfield Giants. In leaving Rimmer, said it was a difficult decision, but is confident that the Stadium and the two sporting clubs will "achieve more in the years to come". Click here to learn more about The Galpharm Stadium. - Naysmith banned for London Road trip! Due to his second half dismal during the 0-0 tie with Tranmere Rovers at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday afternoon Scotland International left-back Gary Naysmith will be banned for this Saturday's trip to Peterborough United, a side intent on bouncing back having lost 5-1 at Bournemouth last weekend. Naysmith who picked up two cautions and face expulsion for the League match against Tranmere late on, will serve just a single match ban resulting in Lee Clark having to name a changed side for the first time this season. It is expected that Irishman Graham Carey who is on loan at Town from Celtic will take up the left-back role, and he will work in partnership with Gary Roberts on that left flank as he did at Barnsley in pre-season. - |

Tranmere Rovers (Home) | League One | Saturday August 14 2010 (15:00 k/o) Follow our live Tweets - bringing you the latest score and goals as they go in! The match on Saturday afternoon that welcomes Association Football back to the Galpharm Stadium will be a difficult tie for Lee Clark's side, but put simply, if the Terriers want promotion this is the type of game they should be winning and winning confidently. The club is expecting a decent crowd following two pleasing away performances and victories. The Terriers only lost once last season at home to Norwich City (1-3) in March meaning the Terriers are unbeaten in their last six home matches. Rovers are too on an unbeaten run away from Prenton Park of three matches. Town took four points from Tranmere last season, the season previously Rovers completed a memorable double over the West Yorkshire side. In December last season Rovers became one of only a handful of teams to take something from a Galpharm league match. They had to come from behind three times to record a credible and deserved 3-3 draw. Tomorrow afternoon's tie promises to be no easier against a Rovers side who lost their opening league fixture (2-1 at home against Oldham) but gained a 1-0 victory at Walsall in the League Cup on Tuesday night. Terriers hunt an Eagle! According to sources at Sky Sports, Huddersfield Town are said to be tracking a move for Crystal Palace in form striker Alan Lee. The former Ipswich, Cardiff and Rotherham Irishman now 31 joined Palace from Ipswich as scored 12 goals in 71 appearances since joining in August 2008. He was prolific at Portman Road and a figure of £300,000 as been banded around for a player who has already scored twice this season already. He has achieved 10 Republic of Ireland caps without scoring but this could be just yet another playful rumour of the Terriers been linked with a player, as there is nothing official out of either club and could yet just be another "skysports understands" rumour. It is without doubt though that Lee Clark is building a squad with higher league experience to get Town out of the third tier come May 2011 and is likely to make one additional signing before the closure of the August transfer window. But with a squad already comprising of a number of attacking flair, would Lee be an added benefit to that squad as Clark looks to mix a team of young and experienced talented players. -

Carlisle United (Away) | Carling Cup One | Tuesday August 10 2010 (19:45 k/o) Score updates on Twitter! The Terriers open up their 2010/2011 Cup Campaign with a tricky visit to Brunton Park to play fellow nPower League One side Carlisle United who should feature summer capture from the Galpharm Stadium James Berrett in their match day squad. Town will be looking to extend on their terrific showing at Notts County at the weekend, but that was one match and that match needs to be forgotten about as it's the next match which must be regarded the most important. A victory for Lee Clark's side would put them in the hat for the Second Round - the draw of which will be made tomorrow evening. Last season at this stage Town defeated then League One side Stockport County 3-1 in an excellent display at the Galpharm Stadium. Town whose best finish is the Semi Final stage in 1968 are targeting a spot in the second round for the third season in succession. Huddersfield Academy product will face his old club following his summer move to Carlisle whilst once United forward Joe Garner returns to Cumbria with the Terriers. Town won in the League at Carlisle 2-1 last season but on Boxing Day 2008, United handed Clark his first defeat as manager of Huddersfield Town with a comprehensive 3-0 win. Terriers pre-season campaign completed Click on the banner below to view a full list of the results of Huddersfield Town's Pre-Season preparations for the big League One kick-off this Saturday at Notts County. - Experienced midfielder joins on loan Plymouth Argyle defensive midfielder Damien Johnson (31) has signed for Huddersfield on a season long loan deal from Peter Reid's League One rivals after the two clubs agreed a deal to bring the 56 capped Northern Ireland International to Yorkshire. The well experienced engine room man with experience at both Premiership and Championship levels will add extra potency to Lee Clark's midfield options as also featured for Nottingham Forest, Blackburn Rovers and over 200 matches for Birmingham City. Johnson who will wear the number 14 shirt is the fourth loan signing of the summer transfer window of the nine players brought in. He will however not be allowed to face Plymouth in the nPower League One matches or if Town are paired with his parent club in any cup competition. Johnson joined Plymouth on a free transfer having fallen down the pecking order at St Andrews in February this year (on a two and a half year deal) and played the remainder of the 20 league matches scoring twice but failed to help Plymouth retain it's Championship status. His manager at Plymouth called him a "terrific player and a good pro ... been brilliant for me ... I wish him good luck", with new manager Clark equally has embracing of what his latest signing could mean to the Terriers "I'm very pleased with this. I'm looking forward to working with him" the Town boss told the official website. The full list of summer signings reads as: Scott Arfield, Joey Gudjonsson, Gary Naysmith, Ian Bennett, Lee Croft (6 month loan), John McCombe, Graham Carey (6 month loan), Joe Garner (6 month loan) and Damien Johnson (season long loan). - |

Anisworth leaves Huddersfield Town At £275,000 he was one of Lee Clark's manager's but today Lionel Ainsworth has left Huddersfield Town to join up with League Two side Shrewsbury Town on a two year deal. Ainsworth will again join up with former manager Graham Turner who managed Ainsworth at Hereford United. When Ainsworth joined the Terriers from Watford in the January 2009 Transfer Window the club had high hopes for him, but the 22 year old failed to make any extended impression on the first team and found his chances limited. The former of Gary Roberts and Anthony Pilkington saw Ainsworth loaned to League One rivals Brentford for the last 6 months of last season. Off the field Ainsworth has had some issues, and he fell out with the management team at Brentford who sent the winger back early from his loan. Lee Clark said of his former winger that he became "frustrated" at the club, and that was evident during the only Pre-Season he featured - with the juniors during the 1-0 loss at Frickley Athletic last month. The financials of the deal are undisclosed, but it will be without a shadow of a doubt that one of Clark's first signings as proven disastrous and massive waste of club money, but to be fair Ainsworth rarely got a fair crack at the First Team because he does have talent that if nurtured and brought out will prove to be excellent. However, Lee Clark never really seemed to get the best out of a player he bought with such expectations. He made just 11 starts for the Terriers making a further 18 appearances from the subs bench. Making in total every time he featured for Town a cost of £9,482! A mistake, or it just didn't work out between the club, the manager and the player ... that's for you to make your own mind up! With Anisworth leaving the Galpharm Stadium only midfielder Jim Goodwin remains of those transfer listed in May. - |
