"Shopping how you like it!" Value & Choice 24*7 - Swipe card access comes to Town! The system of ticket-less entry as been around football stadiums in Britain (such as Sheffield United) and widely used at Australian sporting venues for many years, but from next season 'Access Control Cards' will be used at the Galpharm Stadium. It will be introduced in various phases through the forthcoming season with the Fantastic Media Family Stand benefiting from this improved technology from the start of the season. Others areas of the ground will receive a traditional booklet style season ticket and revert to the card entry when available. Supporters attending matches will use a special and unique barcode on their 'Season Ticket Pass' (Membership Card) to gain entry to the Stadium. The card will also hold information about the supporter and the club urges supporters to keep the card safe as to replace one will cost £20. As this site put on the Down At The Mac Messageboard back in March and to Sean Jarvis about 12 months ago: "Also on a side note, when will Town get rid of the old fashioned Season Ticket books, and issue an "Huddersfield Town Swipe Access Card" - this could be used as the Season Ticket - and access 'topped up' every season. Plus to build up a client portfolio it could be swiped every time you purchase anything through the club - i.e enhanced commerical offerings per game, commercial events, shop purchases, away tickets, cup tickets etc. Call it a Membership or whatever but what a way to be part of the "True Blue Terriers" Club. Works very well in Australia with the AFL. In edition in regards to tickets purchased online - it would save printing costs, as you could order online and print out your own ticket to swipe into additional matches such as cup games etc. In Australia having that lanyard around your neck with your Membership card is a status symbol and certainly works attracting many thousand's each game." So we are pleased to see Town moving to this modern technology, sooner than we felt they would. Collection dates for the Season Ticket dates have also been released by the club and are as follows: Direct Golf (Upper) - From Saturday July 17th. Direct Golf (Lower) - From Monday July 19th. Britannia Rescue - From Monday July 26th. Fantastic Media Family Stand - From August 2nd. These are the dates the season ticket will be available for pick up ... or if you have paid for postage will be sent out week commencing as appropriate given the dates above. - New home kit, new sponsor! Town launched it's new shirt and new main sponsor with the local Kirklees College brand replacing Yorkshire Air Ambulance across the famous blue and white stripes in the latest partnership for the 2010/2011 season. Radian B will contine on the classy new away shirt, meaning that Kirklees College will only feature on the first team home shirts. The partnership and new shirt which will feature blue shorts for the first time in many a season and a white collar were revealed at an event held at the Stadium on Wednesday. The college which is using its entire marketing budget on this venture plans to use this to benefit students, staff, businesses and the local community. The Terriers Commercial Director Sean Jarvis called this agreement "very exciting" which will allow the club to reach into a wider part of the community. His hope is that Town supporters will "take pride in the fact that our shirts feature the word 'Kirklees' this campaign". The college which as sites in Huddersfield and Dewsbury said his organisation is "very excited" by this opportunity and he hopes people will support the way his organisation is trying to do something different this year. - Hull City (Home) Pre-Season cancelled! East Riding side Hull City today informed Huddersfield Town that they will not be attending the Galpharm Stadium for a Pre-Season clash on Wednesday July 28th. No reason as been given by the club, but have said that they are attempting to fill the void this cancellation offers. The club as said that you can return any bought ticket to the club for a full refund or retain it in the event of a rearranged match. All the message states on the Tigers website is that the match with Huddersfield is cancelled. - |

Pre-Season opens with thumping win Match Result | AFC Emley 0-5 Huddersfield Town | Pre-Season | Welfare Ground | 10/07/2010 If not a game of two halves yesterday, it was certainly a game of two teams as the Terriers opened up their Pre-Season campaign with a solid victory at AFC Emley's Welfare Ground. Town ran out 5-0 victors in front of 1,500 at the Northern Counties East side as goals from Robbie Simpson, Gary Roberts, Lionel Ainsworth and a Jordan Rhodes brace gave Lee Clark's side the perfect convincing result he would have hoped for. Lee Clark used 21 players during the 90 minutes, replacing all 10 outfield players at half time. Nathan Clarke captained the first half, Peter Clarke the second and in Australian midfielder Calum Hare and Wayne Rooney's brother John previously of Macclesfield Town fielded two trialists. Four of the summer signings made appearances last night. Jamie McCombe, Scott Arfield, Lee Croft started, with Joey Gudjonsson one of those appearing for the second half. Ian Bennett did not appear off the bench as Alex Smithies was the only Town player to play the full 90 minutes. Town's first half time was: Smithies, Ridehalgh, McCombe, N Clarke, Peltier, Roberts, Hare, Arfield, Croft, Robinson and Simpson. And in the second half it was: Smithies, Kay, P Clarke, Goodwin, Chippendale, Hunt, Gudjonsson, Pilkington, Rooney, Rhodes, Ainsworth. Goals: AFC Emley: None, Town: Simpson (24), Roberts (44), Ainsworth (53), Rhodes (67, 70). The next Pre-Season fixture is today at Wakefield FC kick-off is 15:00 BST at the College Grove Ground. For more on Huddersfield Town's Pre-Season click on the graphic below: - Bet on the WorldCup Final with a thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk partner! Following the conclusion of Sunday's final the South Africa World Cup will end with a brand new name on the famous World Trophy and with it either the Netherlands or Spain will become the eight nation to have won the World Cup. The match kick-off's in the impressive Soccer City Stadium Johannesburg between the two European rivals at 19:30 BST. Netherlands is 11/4 to win, Spain 11/10 to win and the draw is at 9/4. The match will be played over 90 minutes to find a winner, if none can be found 30 minutes of Extra Time will be played followed be penalty kicks if required. You can receive 18/1 for David Villa to score the only goal for Spain in a 1-0 victory or why not look at Robin Van Persie to open the scoring in a Dutch 2-1 victory at 60/1? To come from behind to win the favourites should they need this is Spain at 13/1 with Netherlands 20/1 so an interesting one might be for Robin Van Persie to open the scoring but Spain to comeback and win 2-1 is 80/1. Prior to the final concluded the tournament, the losing semi finalists Uruguay and Germany will contest for the Third Place on Saturday with a 19:30 BST kick-off in Port Elizabeth. Uruguay is 7/2 to win, with Germany favourites at 8/11. The Draw is 11/4. Collins and Berrett both exit Town Huddersfield Town saw two of their transfer listed midfielders depart the club today for undisclosed deals. Michael Collins and James Berrett who both came through the Town Academy have left for pastures new. 21 year old Halifax born James Berrett joins League One rivals Carlisle United on a two year deal having previously been linked with a summer moved to League One side Tranmere Rovers. The Republic of Ireland Under 21 player ends a 4 year association with Town but failed to feature much for Lee Clark's Terriers. He made his Terriers debut at Oldham Athletic's Boundary Park in a 0-0 draw in April 2007 but made only 12 appearances last season. In total he made 41 (17 from the bench) scoring twice, his last goal during a 3-1 loss at Crewe in February 2009. He becomes Greg Abbott's fifth summer signing for the Cumbrians with Berrett's new manager enthused with the potential the good professional has to offer. Berrett himself who was transfer listed at the end of last season said "I'm really looking forward to what is a new challenge for me". Like Berrett Michael Collins (24) is a Republic of Ireland Under 21 player and Halifax born. He ends a six year stay with the Terriers having progressed through the Academy. He joins Championship side Scunthorpe United on a three year contract with an option of a fourth in favour of the club. Collins another excellent young professional and popular with the supporters made his debut at Blackpool in February 2005, but it was during the 2007/2008 when he begun to assert himself in the first team and scored perhaps his most favoured goal in the FA Cup Fifth Round at Chelsea. During the club's Centenary Season Collins had his best ever scoring season with 10 goals from his 39 appearances. There were even rumours that season, that former manager Stan Ternent was to offload Collins to Bradford City during the January 2009 transfer window. However, Ternent was released from his duties before that could happen and Collins went on to make 35 appearances under Lee Clark, but like Berrett found a first team place far too infrequently for the player's liking. Lee Clark told the official website that he enjoyed his team dealing with Collins and CEO Nigel Clibbens saying the deal is an "excellent one for all concerned". Collins becomes the Iron's boss Nigel Atkins three summer capture. For the third consecutive season the summer period as proven to be a very busy one for Huddersfield, both in terms of outgoing and incoming. Eight in contract players were transfer listed following the Play-Off Semi Final exit in May and of those Simon Eastwood (Oxford United), Joe Skarz (Bury), Andy Butler (Released), Tom Denton (Wakefield FC) and now Collins and Berrett have left the club. Only Jim Goodwin and Lionel Ainsworth of the eight remain at Town. In terms of incoming, six new faces have joined the Terriers. Scott Arfield (Falkirk), Joey Gudjonsson (Burnley), Gary Naismith (Sheffield United), Ian Bennett (Sheffield United) and Lee Croft (6 month loan - Derby County) and Jamie McCombe (Bristol City) are the players to have been brought in by Lee Clark over the summer. There are rumours that a further midfielder is due and a striker. - Pre-Season commences this Friday! The new class of Huddersfield Town, the class of 2010/2011 who arrived back into training on Monday June 28th, and this week have been on a training camp will have their first pre-season test. It comes with the annual visit to AFC Emley this Friday (19:00) as Town travel the short distance to the Welfare Ground for the fixture. Last season the Terriers won here 6-0 with a Phil Jevons hat trick the highlight. For more on the pre-season match schedule visit: - |

Pearce will not be a Terrier! He joined on a short deal from Premiership Birmingham City in January 2010, but negotiations with defender Krystian Peace appear to have broken down as the club announces that they will not be taking their interest in the player any further. Pearce made just a single appearance for Huddersfield Town a second half substitute during the fated 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Southampton in January. -

McCombe joins the True Blues! Huddersfield Town has today finally confirmed the capture of 27 year old Bristol City defender Jamie McCombe on a three year deal. The financial details of the deal to bring McCombe back to his native Yorkshire remain undisclosed and he becomes Lee Clark's sixth signing of the summer (fifth permanent) during what is turning out to be a busy summer for the blue and whites. Born in Pontefract has featured in over 100 games for City in a career which has seen the 27 year old take in Scunthorpe United, Halifax Town and Lincoln City. Indeed he played against Peter Jackson's side during the Nationwide League Two Play-Off semi finals in May 2004. He is also the brother of former Terrier John McCombe. Standing at 6ft 7inches he will add power and height to Clark's defensive options with the Town boss believing this is a major "coup" for the Terriers in bringing someone with the ability of McCombe into the squad. McCombe who has a year to run on his Ashton Gate contract will join the Terriers later this week having passed a medical. McCombe has tasted success with City having been their player of the year for their 2006/2007 promotion season but following the arrival of Steve Coppell to Ashton Gate, it always looked likely that the dependable defender would be on the move. It is yet another experienced player from an higher division that will add genuine extra quality to the defence and extra competition for places in the starting 11. McCombe joins Scott Arfield, Joey Gudjonsson, Gary Naismith, Ian Bennett and Lee Croft (6 month loan) in joining the Terriers over a busy five week period. A number of players have also left the Galpharn Stadium during that time. A number of players did not have new deals offered at the end of last season (Robbie Williams, Dean Hefferenan, Tasar Hassan, Phil Jevons) and a number of players left towards the end of the season (Ian Craney, Spencer Harris, Lewis Nighingale, Chris Lucketti) with Matthew Glennon and Michael Flynn also leaving the club. A further eight players were transferred listed these were Simon Eastwood, Joe Skarz, Andy Butler, Jim Goodwin, Michael Collins, James Berrett, Lionel Ainsworth and Tom Denton. Of those players Eastwood (Oxford), Skarz (Bury), Butler (released) and Denton (Wakefield FC) have tied up new deals. Collins and Berrett are in talks with other clubs about a possible move, whilst Goodwin and Ainsworth remain committed to the Terriers cause. Clark who is looking to build on the excellent advancement of last season knows his Blue and Whites need to continue to move forward into what will be a difficult inaugural nPower League One season. Clark admitted that McCombe will become an asset for the club and that he was "on his radar for a long time". Town tried to bring in McCombe during the last January transfer window but the lanky defender picked up a knee injury. During an injury hit season last term McCombe who had been a regular since joining Bristol City in 2006 made only 13 starts and last featured for Bristol City in December 2009. Clark calls his new signing an "impressive performer" and his partnership with captain rock at centre half - Peter Clarke - will be interesting to see.
