Huddersfield Town v Colchester United

Follow our live Tweets - bringing you the latest score and goals as they go in!

It match 45 of 46 of the League One regular season tomorrow afternoon and the final match of the season for Lee Clark's side at the Galpharm Stadium. Town secured a place in the League One Play-Offs last weekend at Stockport County and still are mathematically in the hunt for the second and final automatic promotion place.

Intent on continue their excellent performances Lee Clark prepares his side to continue their form as look to go into the Play-Offs full of confidence. They have won five of their last 6 matches, their last 3 at home and kept three clean sheets in those last three matches. In contrast visiting manager Aide Boothroyd has seen his U's Play-Offs dashed with only one win in their last 11 fixtures. The last time United won on their travels was at Yeovil Town in mid-February.

Chairman Dean Hoyle has reduced ticket prices for Saturday's match to £10 for adults and concessions of £5 in a bid to encourage people to come on down to the Galpharm on Saturday to enjoy professional football and the board of the club is hoping for a crowd in the region of 18,000.

Moved by the atmosphere and the spirit of the fans during the last home victory (1-0 against Millwall) and the 3,400 who effectively made Edgeley Park last Saturday a home fixture for Clark's men, Hoyle is looking for the fans energetic and passionate support again as the club hopes for a Millwall-esque atmosphere on Saturday.

16,000 blue and white shirts will be strategically placed in the stadium on Saturday as the club wants the fans to "Believe" and as this website as said all season "Believe in Blue & White"!

In addition in the Fantastic Media Family Stand, Vuvuzela horns will be available as well as clap banners - which appear to be in the mould of those popular used banners in the AFL in Australia. The club in the words of Commercial Director Sean Jarvis wants to create an "electric atmosphere" as they look to dispose of Colchester and gain revenge for the earlier season 1-0 loss at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

An highly talented, respected and experienced referee attends the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday in Keith Stroud (Hampshire). Stroud has officiated matches at the very highest level in England and holds the Hampshire Football Association Referees' Development Manager position, is a former Assistant referee (FIFA listed) and commenced his Football League career in 2004. He joined the top level of English referees (the 'Select Group') in 2007.

Saturday's match will be Stroud's first taste of the Galpharm Stadium and indeed either side this season. A season in which the official has taken 25 Football League matches showing 102 yellow cards (average 4.08 per game) and 10 red cards (average 0.40 per game). Card happy Stroud has failed to keep his card in his pocket at any time this season.

The only occasion that Stroud has been 'man in the middle' was a January 2006 2-0 defeat at Brentford. During that match he sent off two (Richard Newman of Brentford and Town's keeper Paul Rachubka) and booked a further 3 players. His last experience of Saturday's visitors Colchester was in a League One match at the Walkers Stadium when the U's drew 1-1 with Leicester City in March 2009.

Stroud's last match on April 13th was a League Two fixture at Shrewsbury Town during which time he showed two yellow cards, his last League One match was the explosive 1-0 Bristol Rovers home victory over MK Dons on April 5th. He showed 7 yellow cards and 1 red card.

Smile Awhile on the minds!

It certainly is becoming accepted once again as the official anthem of Huddersfield Town and tomorrow the club want the supporters to raise the blue and white banana shaped roof of the Galpharm Stadium in a passionate and stirring rendition of 'Smile Awhile'. It is certainly something that delights this website to learn of this as it's an anthem we are very passionate about and have championed it's cause since the Play-Off era of 2004!

Back in 2004 the Terrier became one of the last sides to win the Nationwide League Play-Offs as the following season it moved to Coca-Cola. Can they emulate that in 2010, and become one of the final sides to lift up the Coca-Cola League Play-Off trophies before the move to utility company nPower?

Perhaps one of the reason's why "Smile Awhile" (the original is called "Till We Meet Again", affectionately called "Smile Awhile") is so powerful for Town fans is the sentimental value it holds. It was used as the 'Town Anthem' the Town cup song for the procession of FA Cup Finals in the glory years of the 1920's.

Smile Awhile, which reflected the great nature of our beloved Huddersfield Town had lyrics which showed the power of the football club, a football club renowned for been successful and for playing the game of football the right way.

Smile Awhile, which as recently just been reintroduced into the minds of the Town supporters was used as the official Town Anthem between the 1920's and the 1960's. In more recent times it as been used before the players entrance and at the final whistle.

The original song "Till we meet again" was a favourite towards the end of the First World War having been written in 1918. At it's heights the song sold five million copies. Richard Whiting wrote the lyrics to the original tune, with the music score by Raymond B Egan.

The tune may be slow, but sung with passion it's meaning and words are so very powerful. I am sure the supporters who sung it at Middlesborough Riverside Stadium home in Brian Horton's day for a Coca-Cola match (in which nearly 5,000 Town fans attended the match), will remember the passion in which they sung it that evening, and the amazing pride it instilled in them whilst singing it. The passion excelled from the 3,400 Town supporters at Edgeley Park last Saturday will need very little introduction to the song, that raised the airs on the back of the neck last Saturday afternoon.

The original words to the more commonly used Town section of the song and the Town words are shown below. If you would like a small downloaded file of the song in it's original format in midi (.mid) format click here.

The Town lyrics are:

All the while upon the field of play,
Thousands gladly cheered them on their way,
Often you could hear them say,
Who can beat the Town today?

Then the bells shall ring so merrily,
Every goal shall be a memory,
So Town play up and bring the cup,
Back to Huddersfield.

The original lyrics:

Smile the while you kiss me sad adieu
When the clouds roll by I'll come to you.
Then the skies will seem more blue,
Down in Lover's Lane, my dearie.

Wedding bells will ring so merrily
Ev'ry tear will be a memory.
So wait and pray each night for me
Till we meet again.

For a PDF version of the Smile Awhile lyrics click here. Click here to listen to the version played at the Galpharm Stadium.

Keep the faith in Lee, Dean and the players, and who knows if the belief is there and the dream is strong enough ... perhaps Smile Awhile will be rung round Wembley Stadium on Saturday May 29th.

Those Were The Days - Article 27!

Today we are delighted to announce the return of Those Were The Days to thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk. In this typically interesting and thought provoking view of the past of Huddersfield Town AFC we look at the first half of the 1970/1971 season - when Town returned to the highest echelons of English football, and played on the same park as Liverpool, Everton, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Carnival at the Galpharm!

Saturday marks the end of the regular season at the Galpharm Stadium, as Lee Clark's side look to increase on their 50 home goals when Essex side Colchester United visit Huddersfield.

The club is encouraging Town fans to get to the stadium early to ensure they can absorb the match day atmosphere ... is there a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon than watching great football down on Leeds Road?

Town have also said that as the two sides emerge from the tunnel, fans will be asked to join in with a rendition of the popular old anthem of Town "Smile Awhile". This is a song this website as always enjoyed and likes very much and the lyrics have been made available on this website through our 'Town Anthem & Songs' page. On this you will also be able to play a midi version of the anthem, listen to that played at the Galpharm Stadium and see a YouTube of Town fans singing it.

Way back in May 2004 prior to the League Two Play-Off semi final against Mansfield Town, this website promoted making "Smile Awhile" more popular than it was then. Six years on, it's popularity is immense.

Saturday will also give the supporters the opportunity to say thanks to the players and good luck for the Play-Offs. Although the Terriers can still mathematically achieve automatic promotion they need results to go for them and score plenty of goals. Anything but defeats for most of the teams above them would put pay to the automatic hopes of Town. In all honesty, it will be the Play-Offs for Town, but who would bet against them?

The Terriers have been in the Play-Offs four times. Achieving promotion twice (1995 beating Bristol Rovers at Wembley to gain promotion to tier 2 and in Cardiff beating Mansfield Town in 2004). They have twice lost at the Semi-Final stage. 2006 Town lost 3-2 on aggregate to Barnsley, and in 2002 the Terriers lost 2-1 on aggregate to Brentford).

Roberts takes BWF Award!

Super Gary Roberts was today named as the Blue and White Foundation Player of the Season for 2009/2010 replacing last season's winner Nathan Clarke to hold the end of season title.

Roberts who joined the Terriers still under 2 years ago from Ipswich Town has impressed during his two season's at the Galpharm Stadium. In all competitions this season he has coed 8 goals and capped off a fine individual season with 14 assists thus far.

Roberts took a plethora of end of season awards last season, the Supporters Player of the Season, Players Player of the season and also thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk Player of the Season. He also ended last season with 11 goals in all competitions, 9 in the league - the Terriers top scorer.

Always giving his all Roberts has earned special praise amongst many Town fans, and his marauding flowing runs on the wing, have entertained many this season, as Town have gained the title of "Entertainers". He narrowly beat two players who have made their season debuts for the club. Popular captain Peter Clarke and quality full back Lee Peltier.

Signed by former manager Stan Ternent, the 25 year old who signed a two year deal when he joined for a fee of around £250,000 back in July 2008 (arguably the best Ternent signing) signed a contract extension last summer meaning Robbo is contracted until Summer 2012.

Record breaking Terriers!

Not only did Saturday's impressive 6-0 drubbing of relegated Stockport County seal at least a Play-Off for Lee Clark's young side in front of nearly 3,500 Town fans at Edgeley Park, but it was also the first time in the club's history that six different goal scorers have scored in the same away match.

It was also the third League match this season Town have scored six goals in a match, the first away from home as they inflicted County's worst ever home result since they lost to Peterborough United by the same scoreline in 1961.

The Terriers also had six different goalscorers as they swept aside Brighton & Hove Albion at the Galpharm Stadium in August, which recorded one of the biggest victories for Town and saw Town score seven in a match for the first time since 1999. On that evening Anthony Kay, Peter Clarke, Lee Novak, Gary Roberts, Danny Drinkwater and a brace from Theo Robinson grabbed the headlines for Town.

Huddersfield Town @ Stockport County

Follow our live Tweets - bringing you the latest score and goals as they go in!

The Terriers will be backed by a massive travelling army of 3,436 as Town fans snapped up all available tickets for the crunch match at Edgeley Park tomorrow afternoon. thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk is one of those supporting the Terriers and as always will be bringing photos and goal alerts direct from the County match tomorrow.

Town who will be looking for a victory which could see the club seal it's League One Play-Off position, but a win and should other results go the right way for Lee Clark's side could see Town's slight outside chance of second place continue for yet another week.

There are many 'if's and but's' tomorrow, but the only thing that should be on the minds on the huge travelling army and those players in red will be all three points against an already relegated Cheshire outfit. But as in previous years and as the home League tie showed, County are not an easy team to play against and will make it difficult for the Terriers.

Tomorrow's match official is Mr A Woolmer (Northamptonshire). Woolmer is an experienced referee having commenced his Football League career at the beginning of the 2004/2005 season. He officiated in his first season Town's 2-1 victory at Swindon a match in which he sent a player from either side for an early bath.

You have to whizz forward to Boundary Park and April 2007 for Town's next experience of tomorrow's referee (the match ended 1-1). Last season he took the final match of Town's season the 1-1 draw at Leyton Orient.

The match at Edgeley Park will be Woolmer's first experience of either side in 2009/2010.

Craney released by Town

Today Huddersfield Town announced that Ian Craney has been released from his contract with the club, with the midfielder having around 15 months left of his contract to run. Craney joined the Terriers in Summer 2008 but following the dismal management reign of Stan Ternent who brought him to the club for an undisclosed fee from League Two side Accrington Stanley.

Craney featured in 34 league matches for Town (23 starts) scoring 5 goals, and also in a single FA Cup match scoring during Town's 4-3 home defeat at the hands of Port Vale in November 2008. Following the change of manager in December 2008, the Liverpool born player found his gametime with Town limited and he was loaned out to Morecambe at the start of the current season.

He made 16 appearances for Morecambe before suffering injury during a league clash in November last year. That would prove to end Craney's season, but he recently only rejoined his parent club. However, he parted the League One club with best wishes today in the hope of getting back to fitness and finding a new club. Town had hoped to set up Craney with a new club in summer, but it failed to be.

He is another player of the former management regime at the Galpharm Stadium to have failed to deliver anything tangible and on evidence appears to be wasted money, both in terms of wages and the undisclosed transfer fee (believed to have been six figures). When he signed for Town on August 19, 2008 he was the ninth summer signing and took ownership of the number 5 shirt, vacated by David Mirfin's exit to Scunthorpe United earlier.

Colchester United (Home) | League One | Saturday May 01 2010 (15:00 k/o)

Come down support the Terriers and make our final home game against Colchester United a celebration of the progress Town have made this season. That is the clear message from the club as they announce a most wonderful deal for the final home match of the regular 2009/2010 season.

Despite being previously classified by the club as a Category A fixture, the match on May 1st will now feature dramatically reduced ticket prices. All areas of the stadium will enjoy admission for just £10 adults, and concessions of a mere £5. Supporters are able to purchase their tickets at the reduce price via the club Ticket Office. All areas other than The Pink Link Stand will also be available for matchday purchase subject to availability.

Town are also making available The Pink Link Stand on a segregated basis and to Season Ticket holders only - this offer is not available to non Season Ticket holders.

The designated 'away stand' will be split to accommodate 1,500 Town fans and 1,000 travelling from Essex with Colchester United. Town supporters can exchange Season Ticket voucher 23 prior to matchday (by 17:00 bst on the Friday) at the ticket office (free of charge) to be seated in the Glapharm Stadium's South Stand. The club expects demand to be massive, so advise supporters to exchange their ticket as soon as possible.

This is clearly a statement of intent from Chairman Dean Hoyle to reward the fans and get as many into the Galpharm Stadium to cheer on the Terriers against a team that could remain a challenge to Town's Play-Off ambitions. Hoyle has told the official website, that the atmosphere against Millwall, which as seen high praise amongst other club supporters and SKY TV pundits who called the night "sensational", moved Hoyle to bring about this incentive. Hoyle acknowledges the contribution the fans gave, backed by new flags and vociferous air horns and he has said that he wants the club "... to lead the way and go the extra mile".

Hoyle, wants to make sure Lee Clark and his players backed by tremendous club captain Peter Clarke is given as much support as possible and as Hoyle says "key to that is having a big crowd and another cracking atmosphere". The Terriers Chairman, who is widely respected and admired amongst his fellow Town fans said of the change in pricing "It's my gut instinct by let's really go for it!"

This just shows the type of journey the Terriers are on to making the club great again, and what a big warm hearted Town-centric Chairman this football, our football, as. He clearly is a man with vision, acumen and desire to do everything he can to make Town great again, and his decisions are certainly helping put Town on the right footing both off the field and on it.

We will recall what we put in our exclusive article - "Deano Day" earlier this month:

"That is why 'Deano' his wife Janet and bairns Daniel & Josh mean so much to us for they are us. Dean Hoyle, Chairman of Huddersfield Town Football Club he proudly is but most of all he is a Town fan, a supporter who wants everything we want for our Club. Because of this young man we have an opportunity I never, ever thought would come the way of my club. A man who is doing all he can to ensure Huddersfield Town has every opportunity to succeed.

Whatever we the supporter can do to help Mr Hoyle please let us try to do so. We may have hundreds of pounds to pay for the next season ticket, Deano, willingly; is giving us tens of thousands of £'s to make our dreams reality.

We have had some of the greatest names in football associated with our Club, never in over half a century of loving Town have we had anyone like Dean Hoyle."

To coin a marketing phrase ... Dean Hoyle is priceless!

Young reserves well beaten!

Huddersfield Town reserves went down to their third totesport.com League defeat in succession with a heavy 5-1 loss at Newcastle United yesterday evening. Despite a young Terriers side taking an early lead through Jack Hunt up in Whitley Bay, the home side was too good for Paul Stephenson's side to secure a comprehensive win for the Magpies reserves.

-

Three-second year young pros given chance to step up!

Coming hot on the heals of news earlier this month that Lee Clark offered new contracts to three of Town's First Year Professionals (Liam Ridehalgh, Leigh Franks, Jack Hunt), the club has announced that it is offering the chance for three Second Year Professionals the opportunity to make the grade in the Frist Team and continue their professional playing career with Huddersfield Town.

Those been given the honour of graduating from the Terriers Academy into the First Team are James Spencer (striker), Aidan Chippendale (left wing) and Chris Atkinson (midfield). The decision came following discussions between Academy Director Graham Mitchell, First Team boss Lee Clark and his counterpart of the Reserves Paul Stephenson.

Both Chippendale and Hunt have featured on the bench for the First Team this season, indeed Chippendale as recently as the away match at Brentford earlier this month.

Dean sells Card Factory

Chairman Dean Hoyle has confirmed that he has sold the greeting's card business he set up with wife Janet to Venture Capitalist Charterhouse a private equity firm for around £350 million. Hoyle will take on the role of Non-Executive Chairman following the conclusion of the sale.

The strewed businessman who aims to get Town into financial parity and self-sufficiency, which is believed to be the best method of securing Town's future and sustaining it as a viable business and on taking Town to be great again, as said that he will not be pumping infinite levels of money into the club and quickly moved to dispel thought's of him splashing the cash.

Hoyle has said that his level of backing for Huddersfield Town is unaffected by the sale of one of the UK's fastest growing companies. Hoyle will not risk splashing the cash at the Terriers which ultimately would make it an unsustainable proposition and destined to fail.

One thing is for sure, in the often sordid world of English football, Huddersfield Town is being run in the right manner, by a moral and excellent English born businessman and fan, and off the field Town will be up there with the very best of English football in the manner the business is operated.

Pilks a doubt!

Winger Anthony Pilkington is a doubt for tomorrow's trip to Brentford having been forced off during the midweek home win over Oldham Athletic. The former Stockport County favourite faces a late fitness test and should he fail to pass it on loan Liverpool player Nathan Eccleston will start.

Strikers Lee Novak (knee) and Robbie Simpson (thigh) will both miss the fixture through injury, but are close to making a return to Lee Clark's side.

Lee Clark who wants his side to have self-belief after watching an indifferent performance on Tuesday evening (the Oldham victory at the Galpharm Stadium) is unlikely to make many changes, as he looks to cement sixth place and the Terriers Play Off positions, with the end of the season quickly beckoning.

Brentford v Huddersfield

Follow our live Tweets - bringing you the latest score and goals as they go in!

This Saturday Town make the trip south to London to face old advisories Brentford at Griffin Park. Town will be looking to put their recent good form to play as they focus on maintaining their play off push with a rare victory at Brentford.

Recently Brentford have improved and although at one point looked to be in relegation trouble their recent revival as ensured that they will be playing tier three football next season. They are also doing rather well at home just now, being six unbeaten at the locally dubbed "Wendy House". Town have always struggled at Brentford and have not tasted success here since April 2005. Indeed in the last two matches the Bees have won one and the other was a draw.

Through the years of all matches at Brentford the home side have tasted victory on more occasions than their Yorkshire visitors. 12 Brentford wins contrast with Town's 7 and 8 draws. Overall Brentford have 20 wins, 16 ties and 18 Town wins. Brentford have also outscored Town by 7 goals with 67 goals.

The last 10 matches between the two sides, Town have tasted just 2 wins to the Bees 5 and three draws.

But Town will be looking to using their recent excellent form by recording their third consecutive victory. They are also un beaten in the last four and victory on Saturday would be the fourth in five. Town's recent form and how they have started April is in contrast to the start of March which yielded three defeats. The previous month commenced with three draws, so could April continue the sequence with a third draw?

Brentford are playing well at the moment, and picking up some vital points as they have moved stealthily away from the relegation zone and into mid-table security. They showed in September that they match the battling hard working spirit of previous Brentford sides as they became the first side to take away a point from the Galpharm Stadium (0-0). The draw though was only point in four league matches. That match proved to be the first time Town failed to score at home and only the second time they failed to score. It was however the first clean sheet recorded by Lee Clark's side.

The recent form from Andy Scott's side is impressive and they will prove a huge test of Lee Clark's side abilities. However, if Town want to achieve promotion this is absolutely the type of match Town need to be travelling back up the M1 from having won all three points.

In the last 10 matches, Brentford have lost just twice as they sit securely in 11th place 11 points clean of Tranmere Rovers who occupy the final relegation place. The Bees have won 3 of the last 10 and drawn 5 - proving they are a difficult side to defeat. Points have been won at Leeds (d), Colchester (d) and Millwall (d) recently and took points from sides in relegation trouble. They have beaten Stockport, Leyton Orient and Oldham. As stated they are unbeaten in their last 6 matches having won 3 and drawn 3 and are on a run of 2 consecutive draws. Bank Holiday Monday they drew at Griffin Park 0-0 with Exeter City.

Of their 19 matches at home this season they have won 31 points with 7 wins, 10 draws and 2 defeats (Bristol Rovers 1-3 & Swindon Town 2-3). The two defeats came in consecutive home matches in September/October.

Leading goalscorer for the Bees this season is Charlie MacDonald with 14 overall (12 in the league). The Londoner has followed up an impressive goalscoring record last season this time round. MacDondald has been supported by midfielder Myles Weston, the only other Bee to score double-digit goals this season with 10 in all competitions (8 in League One).

It could also prove to be an emotional return to Griffin Park for Town leading goalscorer Jordan Rhodes who scored 7 goals in 14 matches for the Bees last season whilst on loan from previous club Ipswich Town. Those goals helped Brentford to the League Two title in May 2009.

The referee for the League One fixture is Andy Hall (West Midlands).

Reserves defeated by Lincoln City

Paul Stephenson's side slipped to their successive defeat as they lost 3-2 at home to Lincoln City last night. The match played in front of 116 at the Galpharm Stadium.

The visitors ran out deservedly 3-2 winners despite what the scoreline might show. 3-2 flatters the young Terriers side who were outplayed and out muscled for the majority of the 90 minutes against an impressive Lincoln side. Michael Gordon and David Stephens particularly caught the eye for the visitors.

For all Town's efforts and attempts they lacked any fluidity or command to their attacking play and rarely threatened experienced Paul Musslewhite's goal, despite some enterprising if sporadic approach play at times.

Passing generally was poor with Town playing as three sets of players rather than a combined unit. Some of the cross selection was equally as poor as the approach play and against a composed and excellent Lincoln side Town found it difficult to get behind and penetrate the visitors defence.

Town had a Liverpool Academy trialist on show, but on last night's showing it is difficult to see how Sean Highdale will be investigated any further. The midfield for the Terriers lacked substance and poise and rarely gave any support to either attack or defence. It might not have helped that normal right-back Jack Hunt was given a centre midfield role by Stephenson.

Also, Taser Hassan for all his positional play offered minimal substance and again it is difficult to see how he merits a longer term contract. To be fair few excelled in blue and white stripes last night but Aiden Chippendale and James Spencer had the best games. On another evening Spencer might have ended up with an hat trick having sent two good efforts wide, in a couple of the few attacks the Leigh Franks captained side offered.

Town did take the lead through Michael McCaffery, if slightly against the run of play. Lincoln came out strong and it took Town 15 or so minutes to really get a foothold into the match. Prior to the Terriers taking the lead City could have scored following a Franks clearance which struck the inside of Simon Eastwood's post. How that stayed out is a mystery.

But it seemed to kick Town into action and McCaffery's lovely run into the box was finished nicely. The Terriers young side, then looked like they would kick on from taking the lead and took the game to the visitors. But with the game drifting towards half time it was clear to see the Town players were wanting the referee's half time whistle.

But with the Town players visibly awaiting West's half time whistle, the inhabitable happened. Lincoln scored. But in two dramatic minutes, not just once but twice! The equaliser on 43 minutes through Lenell John-Lewis close range stab, and two minutes later a sublime direct freekick from Richard Butcher put City into the lead. The second goal came as a result of an error in judgement by Town custodian Simon Eastwood. He came out of his area to collect a through ball and despite his attempts to allow it into his area, he handled well out of his area. On another night Town would have been reduced to 10 men with Eastwood red carded.

It got worse for the Terriers nine minutes into the second half as Lincoln record their third goal in an amazing 11 minutes spell. It was Paul Connor who completed a lovely run by impressive Imps winger Michael Gordon.

After the third visitors goal, that was it for the contest, City shut up shop and allowed the Terriers to dominate possession without allowing their hosts to do a great deal with it. All the endeavour of attempting opportunities to have efforts on goal were fruitless until the very last minute when Chippendale raced into the box and City defender David Stephens who had had a splendid goal up until that point brought down the marauding Town forward and referee West had no hestitation in pointing to the spot.

Aiden Chippendale confidently took the penalty and he capped off a personal good performance with a goal as it flow into the top left corner of Musslewhite's goal. That was the last action of a disappointing second string display as the referee immediately blew for full time as City kicked off.

The 12,763 Griffin Park as been the scene of many an important battle between Huddersfield and Brentford having won once and lost once here in the play-offs. Few will forget the scenes following Darren Bullock's winning 1995 play-off semi final goal in front of the new covered Ealing Road Terrace. That goal took the Terriers to Wembley and ultimately promotion to the second tier of English Football.

Away supporters are still accommodated behind the goal in the Brook Road Stand. This two tier stand can hold around 1,600 away supporters. 600 in the seated upper tier and another 1,000 in the lower standing area. It is actually a move back to this stand following the redevelopment of the Ealing Road Terrace in 2007 as that was the designated away area for some time. The stand is rather compact like Griffin Park in general and any Town fan who has visited Griffin Park will be very aware of this.

Home to Brentford since 1904 it is the only English league ground to have a pub on each corner and is situated on land that once housed a Fuller's Brewery. All the stands are separate and the stadium compact it does have a friendly and welcoming appeal to it. It is affectionately called "Wendy House" by the locals and is used by Premiership side Chelsea for their reserve fixtures. For four years until 2006 it was also home of Super League side London Broncos.

Like many clubs in England in Brentford's position there are plans to move to a new 20,000 all seater capacity stadium situated in a 7.6 acre site close to their current stadium.

The Stadium is a 25 minute walk from South Ealing Tube Station (or a bus ride on the number 65), and 1.3 miles from Gunnersbury. Brentford train station is around a 5 minute walk to the ground.

No Kay tonight!

Antony Kay who picked up his 10th booking of the season late in the match at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday is suspended for tonight's derby visit of Oldham Athletic to the Galpharm Stadium. Kay who had only been on the pitch for approximately 15 minutes was harshly booked with seconds of the tie remaining. The former Tranmere and Barnsley central midfielder will also miss Saturday's trip to Brentford.

Robbie Simpson and Lee Novak will both be missing for Clark, who will be hoping winger Anthony Pilkington does not receive a caution this evening as he is on nine bookings for the season.

Although former Terriers Pawel Abbot and Jon Worthington should feature for Oldham this evening, Andy Holdsworth is injured and so misses out. Jim Goodwin Town's on loan midfield general at Boundary Park is also injured but it is unlikely he would have been given clearance to feature for Dave Penney's struggling Lancashire outfit. Keigan Parker will not feature tonight as he is on loan at Bury.

The visitors tonight have a fitness doubt over goalkeeper Darryl Flahaven who joined the Latics during the recent loan transfer window, Dean Brill who deputised at the weekend will continue in goal for Penney's side should the experienced Flahaven not recover from illness.

Lee Clark, who was in the SKY TV studio for the Championship fixture at Newcastle United last night is expected to make just one change to the starting line-up. He will make the enforced replacement of the suspended Antony Kay on the Town bench. Town will be looking to record yet another 'double' this season following the 1-0 win at Boundary Park courtesy of a stunning Robbie Williams free-kick on a wet and windy Sunday afternoon back in November.

Terriers reserves suffer defeat

After six victories on the bounce in the totesport.com League for Paul Stephenson's side it is now two defeats on the trot with an afternoon visit to the North East ending in a disappointing 1-0 loss. Due to the inclement weather the fixture was changed from Hartlepool United's Victoria Park to Billingham Town's ground.

A Town side which featured a number of players with first team experience including Nathan Clarke who captained the side and the returning striker Nathan Eccleston, Town failed to produce the goods in the final third and fell to a single goal defeat. Krystain Pearce continued to perform excellently in Town colours and he must be pushing for a permanent contract in summer from the club.

Three youngsters offered new deals

Lee Clark has offered contracts to three of this season's First Year Professionals. Those being deemed worthy of a new deal are Liam Ridehalgh (left back), central defender Leigh Franks and impressive right back Jack Hunt who made the first team bench on Saturday afternoon.

A decision is yet to be made on Taser Hassan who was offered a short term deal in February of this year. One of those joining Spencer Harris in exiting Huddersfield Town is Lewis Nightingale.

Rhodes accolades!

Striker Jordan Rhodes was chosen for his goal scoring performance against Charlton Athletic last weekend for the League One team of the week. That followed him being named in the Top 50 Football League Players poll for 2010. He was recognised in 46th place emulating Nathan Clarke who made the FourFourTwo listing in 2006.

The 19 year old striker in his first season with Huddersfield Town scored his 20th goal of the season during the 1-1 Galpharm Stadium draw with Charlton Athletic.

Admission into Adams Park is charged at:

Adults: £18
Seniors: £15

Adams Park formally The CauseWay Stadium is home to both Wycombe and English Rugby Union Premiership side Long Wasps. The home of The Chairboys as a capacity around 10,000. Three stands are seated with the home end Valley Terrace standing. Town fans will be located in The Dreams Stand (behind the goal) which holds 2,000 supporters with unrestricted views of the playing surface.

The compact ground was opened in 1990 and further expanded in 1996 and 2001. It originally opened with a capacity of 6,000 of which just 1,267 were seats. Prior to the move to Hillbottom Road The Chairboys home was Loakes Park. The change in stadium seemed to coincide with a upturn on the playing field with Wanderers entering the Football League in 1993.

Following the second stage of development, the club had to close the Paddock area of the main stand (Bucks New University) to comply with council regulations that the stadium capacity does not exceed 10,000.
