Southampton (Away) | League One | Tuesday March 02 2010 (19:45 k/o) This fixture was originally due to be played on Saturday January 9th but the poor weather which hit Hampshire during that weekend brought another away day postponement for the Terriers. Over 700 tickets were sold for the original fixture, these tickets are valid for the rearranged date. Should you not be able to attend the new fixture the club asks that you contact the club for a full refund of the purchase price paid. Admission into St Mary's is charged at: Adults: £22 Seniors (over 60s): £17 17-21 year olds: £17 Under 16s: £10 Under 12s: £5 An Adult and Under 16 ticket costs £27 when purchased together. An adult and Under 12 ticket costs £22 when purchased together. Wheelchair and ambulant disabled cost £22, with carer admitted free of charge. But with a 462 mile round trip to make for Yorkshire based supporters on a Tuesday night (the fourth longest!), it is unlikely many will see the Terriers first ever match at Southampton's impressive new home. Visiting supporters to St Mary's Stadium or The Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium" to give it it's full commercial title, are situated in a section of the Northam Stand next to the connection with the Itchen Stand and behind the goal - albeit more to the corner flag side of the behind the goal stand. Up to 3,200 away supporters are accommodated in the modern 32,689 all-seater stadium, which cost £32 million to construct. It is situated in the Chapel area of the City of Southampton and not as the stadium name would suggest St Mary's. As with most modern football arena's St Mary's is not just another football stadium, it is used for a variety of events including popular music concerts. It will also host pool games during the IRB Rugby Union World Cup in 2015 which is hosted by England. The hosting of World Cup matches could see the stadium increased in size to between 40,000 and 50,000 with the enhancement expense paid for by the Rugby Football Union. Post Code: SO14 5FP. For the Saints match click on the banner below. - Some Statistics for Southampton (Away) | League One | Tuesday March 02 2010 Tuesday's visit to Southampton's 'New Ground' - St Mary's (or The Friends Provident St Mary's Stadium" to give it it's full commercial title) will be Huddersfield Town's first visit (another to add to the collection Town fans!) since the Saints moved from The Dell in 2001. Although Southampton was docked 10 points at the start of the season by The Football League they have improved as the season as progressed and are proving to be a quality team. They sit half way just now, but without the points deduction would be on the same points as Town and be a place behind the Terriers. Of the last 5 matches for the Saints at St Mary's they have won 3, drawn once, and lost the other. Not many Town fans will need reminding of the poor away form this season, which is really preventing the Terriers making a closer move towards the automatic places. Our last five on the road have seen 1 win, 1 draw and 3 defeats. The last away fixture at Carrow Road ended in a disappointing 3-0 loss despite a positive first period showing. There have not been many fixtures between the two clubs with only 10 matches at Southampton in all competitions. Southampton has won 5 of these matches, Town 2 the other 3 draws. Southampton's 20 home goals is 7 more than Town have scored. The last league match in Southampton ended in a 2-1 victory for the Terriers in September 1971. The last visit was in a League Cup match. Town had lost the first leg 1-0 at the then McAlpine Stadium, and followed that up with a 4-0 loss at The Dell, a victory inspired by Saints Legend Matthew Le Tissier. Ironically the only ever match between Saints and Town in January (in 1965) ended with the highest aggregate scoreline of 3-3 at The Dell. So there could just be goals on Tuesday evening at the St Mary's! One thing is for sure Town fans will be treated to one of the best Stadia in League One. - |

Exit strategy for tomorrow's home fixture The following statement has been issued by West Yorkshire Police (taken directly from the police website): Police in Huddersfield are calling on football fans to work with them ahead of the local derby between Leeds United and Huddersfield Town on Saturday. Officers policing the game want to ensure all enjoy the match and that safety is paramount. The derby is one of the biggest events of the season in terms of policing operations. Kirklees Superintendent Mick Wharton says they have considered all the options: "We have discussed with the club how to manage the end of game at some length over a number of seasons and different approaches have been taken. The over riding consideration in these deliberations is public safety. "At first glance the solution may appear obvious in that we could hold back the Leeds fans until the majority of home supporters clear the site. This has been seriously considered, but to ensure the Leeds supporters stay in their seats would require a massive stewarding and police operation when these staff are required elsewhere. "If we try to hold the large numbers of Leeds fans on the stairwell exits we also raise the chances that someone will be seriously injured or worse due to the steep layout of the stand. As our over riding concern is public safety, we cannot consider this option. "This season we are trying to keep the two main groups apart simply by asking home supporters not to come down the Riverside to the South stand car park as there will be control mechanisms in place. "Home fans can exit the ground at any time they wish and walk around the Kilner Bank stand or out onto Leeds Road. "Clearly for those who are parking their vehicles on the South Stand car park there will be some delay, so asking them to consider waiting in their seats rather than elsewhere seems a sensible request. We will, however, be working with stewards to clear the South Stand car park as quickly as possible and let everyone go home safely. "At the end of the day I am asking for 20 minutes of patience from a relatively small number of people so that everyone can enjoy the match and leave in a controlled manner at the end of the game." Major roads surrounding the Huddersfield Town football ground will be busy on Saturday as a large number of fans are expected to turn out for the derby game against Leeds United. The match starts at around 12:30 pm and drivers are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys. Motorists not attending the game are also being advised to avoid the area if possible and use alternative routes. TRAVELLING TO THE GAME: Supporters travelling via the motorway are asked to use Junction 24, following signs for Huddersfield rather than Junction 25. Motorist should consider alternative routes using Brighouse and the A614 Bradford Road. Expect delays if travelling to the event via the A62 Leeds Road Corridor. All routes into Huddersfield could be busy and congested in the lead up to the game. Supporters are therefore asked to ensure they set off in time to get to the event. -

Huddersfield Town @ Tranmere Rovers Follow our live Tweets - bringing you the latest score and goals as they go in! We will be making the relatively short journey to Prenton Park tomorrow evening for the third Tuesday night away match on the bounce. At just shy of 70 miles it is shorter than the two already made (Brighton, Carlisle) and considerably closer than the near 470 miles round trip next Tuesday evening to Southampton. Town will be travelling to Tranmere full of confidence for building on their rapidly improving away record. Town have won three of their last four away from the Galpharm Stadium and unbeaten in the League in nine matches - since the mid-December 3-0 loss at Carrow Road. Historically Prenton Park as not been a happy hunting ground for many Town sides. On the Wirral the record is shocking with 14 defeats from the last 21 matches. The last league win was in September 1998 when Marcus Stewart and a brace from Wayne Alison (who is now on the coaching staff at Prenton Park) handed the Terriers a slender 3-2 victory. Relegation threatened Rovers moved well away from the relegation zone with victory at home on Saturday. The 2-1 victory for Les Parry's side saw them mount a genuine survival bid with seven points from the last three matches. Like Town, Rovers are on somewhat of a mini unbeaten run, they are unbeaten in the last three matches. As proven at the Galpharm Stadium, Tranmere will be a difficult opposition for Lee Clark's side. However Clark's side are one of the overall form team's at the moment and three wins from the last six away from home, put the Terriers recent away form in second place. Last time at Prenton Park, Town fell to a 3-1 loss in March last year. That is an all too familiar feeling - defeat at Tranmere! But the confidence is building and this Town side is a resilient beast one that takes advisory to it's max to overcome it. The confidence is building with the unbeaten run and clean sheets and Saturday's 2-0 win at Hartlepool United saw Clark's side re-enter the play-off places. Indeed if Town need anymore encouragement they need only look at last Tuesday's victory at Carlisle United. They showed they can come through difficult away tests with victory and the 2-1 victory was the first at Brunton Park since October 1984! More of the same?! We think so, or should that be hope so? So the site is going for a 'TopTip' of a 2-1 victory for Huddersfield Town tomorrow evening. But Clark's side will need to be at their very best, because despite being in the bottom half for much of the season Tranmere have proved they are no pushovers and the deservedly took a point from a six goal match at the Galpharm Stadium in December. Not many teams have taken much away from Huddersfield this season, and a point and three goals was excellent value for the then struggling Tranmere. So be an interesting one and with an away end that can accommodate around 2,500 travelling supporters it is hoped many fans will choose to make the trip to the Wirral. It is pay at the turnstile tomorrow evening, unless you want a Young Person's (17-22) or Seniors (over 60) discount ticket, for which a ticket is required - get these now from the Town ticket office. The Terriers second string followed up on the first team's excellent victory at Carlisle United on Tuesday evening by beating Rotherham United 6-0 at AFC Emley's Welfare Ground. The team containing a number of players with first team experience was helped to an empathetic 6-0 scoreline thanks largely to an hat-trick from Robbie Simpson. Two further Simpson goals in the second period his third and Town's sixth of the afternoon came on the stroke of full time. Even after this and with little time remaining Berrett almost grabbed his second and a seventh for the Terriers but saw his excellent effort smash against the Millers crossbar. - Loanees back in Town! Tranmere Rovers (Away) | League One | Tuesday February 23 2010 (19:45 k/o) The Terriers month of Tuesday night matches continues right through February with the visit to Tranmere Rovers Prenton Park one of the closest journeys. After midweek trips to Brighton and Carlisle United (February 16th) the Terriers face a trip to the Wirral to face relegation threatened Tranmere who took a credible point in a six goals encounter at the Galpharm Stadium in December. Admission prices (which are the same as last season's) are as follows: Adults: £17.50 Seniors (Over 60s) £9.50 17-22 year olds £9.50 Under 16s £5 Disabled £5 - carer admitted free of charge. Admission is available by pay at the turnstiles for adults and juniors. However Seniors and Young Persons (17-22) are required to pre-purchase their ticket from the ticket office prior to match day and take a form of identification with them to the match. The 16,567 seat capacity Prenton Park was opened in 1912 and home to Rovers ever since. It under went renovations during 1994 and 1995 when three stands were replaced - only the Main Stand remains as is since it was opened in 1968, although this too like the rest of the stadium is fully seated. The Bebington Kop End dominates the stadium with a capacity to house 5,600 fans. This replaced the uncovered terrace area and came as a result of the Taylor Report. Away fans are housed in the Cowshed End (since the 2000/2001), which is opposite the Kop End. This Stand can accommodate 2,500 fans - all seated. This was previously the much loved home end until they moved to the Kop. Facilities include food and a licensed bar. There is also a family designated area in rows H-J, seats 35-44. The Cowshed Stand is situated on the Prenton Road West. Last season the Terriers whose record on the Wirral is far from good lost 3-1 in March 2009 with Andy Booth scoring the Terriers only goal. That ensured a 'double' for Tranmere who won 2-1 at the Galpharm Stadium in September 2008. Parking around the stadium is strictly controlled by a residents parking scheme but there is a large on site car park. The car park is located behind the Kop End, with some capacity towards the main stand. Access to the on site car park is via Prenton Road West. Post Code: CH42 9PY. Enjoy an overnight stay on the Wirral! MATCHhotels.com in association with thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk helps sports fans find hotels near sports venues and events. Terriers on shortlist for FIVE Football League 2010 awards! Huddersfield Town have today been shortlisted in five categories in the Football League Awards 2010 sponsored by football magazine FourFourTwo and to be hosted at a gala dinners award in London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Sunday March 14th. The club who earlier this week was awarded a "Family Excellence Award" for 2010 one of 37 clubs and just one of 17 of the 92 clubs in the Football League to receive the award every year since its inception in 2007 won League One Family Club of the year in 2008 and a 2008/2009 "Family Excellence Award". A club that is on the journey to improving both on and off the field, and Dean Hoyle and a very able board and office staff leading the new era, the new Huddersfield Town, indeed it's rebirth is ensuring that off the field Town are striving for perfection in everything they do. For the 2010 FourFourTwo Awards Town will feature for the Family Club of the Year (League 1). In the same category is MK Dons, Norwich City, Southend United and Swindon Town. Town's innovative marketing campaign that see's half money going to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and half to the club's Academy "Keep It Up" is up for the Football League's Best Marketing Campaign. Give Us An H which recently received glowing reports from a national newspaper is shortlisted for the Best Matchday Programme, one of only two club's from League One to be up for this award. The Sports Participation Project (Huddersfield Town Cheerleaders) is include in the shortlist for the Best Community Project. And finally living legend Andy Booth is one of four players to be shortlisted for the award of Player in the Community. Evidence of the great work the popular striker is doing off the field with the club and how successful bringing Booth from wearing the blue and white kit, to wearing the blue and white tie as proven to be. It is a different Huddersfield Town from 10 years ago, indeed 12 months ago. Much of that is down to Dean Hoyle's beautiful and passionate vision and desire he has to see HIS club succeed. Long may that continue, and long may the supporters of this proud football club support it through thick and thin, as in Dean Hoyle, there is a Chairman an owner who feels every kick, every tackle, every minute of every game, delights with every goal and every win and feels the tension of every moment. He is a true supporter of Huddersfield Town Football Club and these awards say one thing to Dean and the staff off the field ... you are taking OUR club in the right direction. "On the journey with Huddersfield Town ... together forever". Lets remain energised and take the passion for the very top of the boardroom throughout every occupied seat at the Galpharm Stadium every match from now until the end of the season and back Lee Clark and his playing staff until you have no voice left! This is the beginning of a long journey Dean has planned for the club, the beginning of the realisation of the dream of taking Town to the very top level of English football again. Share this dream with Town, Keep The Faith and back them all the way be proud and honoured to "Believe in Blue & White". - Dean Hoyle's rallying cry for Saturday! Dean Hoyle, Chairman, expressed his desire today for Huddersfield Town fans to turn up and back the side for Saturday's big home clash with in-form promotion chasing Swindon Town. Town who are in decent form but lost some of their expressive fluid attacking play recently will need to regain some of the form to overcome Danny Wilson's promotion contenders at the Galpharm Stadium. Hoyle has called the match on Saturday "a massive six pointer", as it's a visit of the fifth placed side to Huddersfield which could seriously test the unbeaten home tag Town still enjoy. Hoyle wants the fans on Saturday to turn up with their singing voices as he states "They (rivals) think we get big crowds but the atmosphere here is good for awat teams" and he wants the fans on Saturday to make them eat their words. Town unbeaten in their last 6 matches have drawn three of their last four matches scoring just two goals. Indeed since the turn of the year in the league the Terriers have scored just four goals in five matches, conceeded just two. So whilst the clean sheets (3) have been attained the free scoring Terriers have dried up. In contrast Swindon Town scored four goals on Tuesday night, as Danny Wilson's side continue to impress. In their six league matches since the beginning of 2010 they have won 4 and drawn twice. Scoring 14 goals and conceeding 6. Wilson's side last tasted league defeat on December 12 when they lost 3-0 at West Country rivals Bristol Rovers. The Robins have only lost four times (3 on the road) and defeated Town 2-1 at the County Ground in November - a match which saw Lee Novak equalise with a stunning strike. - Reserves win at Elland Road The Terriers handed out a first home league defeat of the season to Leeds United in the totesport.com League with a 2-0 victory at Elland Road. Goals from Aiden Chippendale and Chris Atkinson gave Paul Stephenson's side all three points against the home side who had goalkeeper Alan Martin sent off just before the interval. Theo Robinson also had a goal offside, and tormented the United defence all evening and on another night could have scored a couple. -

Brighton & Hove Albion (Away) | League One | Tuesday February 09 2010 (19:45 k/o) Ticket and Important Travel Information The Terriers make a long midweek trip to the South Coast to face Brighton and Hove Albion (rearranged from January 23rd due to Albion's continuation in the FA Cup). A 500-miles round trip to the Withdean Stadium is never the easiest, a Tuesday night arrangement for the majority of Terriers will prove almost impossible. It is all ticket for travelling Town fans with the cost of admission as follows: Adults: £20 Wheelchair users are kindly asked to contact Brighton directly on 0845 496 1901. The Withdean Stadium is a temporary stadium for the football club with Albion attempting to build a new stadium since they sold their former Goldstone Ground home in 1997. Once voted amongst the worst in England, the predominately athletics stadium as an 8,850 seating capacity with away supporters designated the West Stand. Such was the plight of Brighton for two years following the sale of the Goldstone they had to ground share with Kent rivals Gillingham prior to moving back to the Sussex Coast in 1999. The club as received planning permission so hopefully for the club, and it's supporters they can commence the building of their new permanent home on the outskirts of the popular coastal resort. The West Stand at the Withdean is perhaps one of the worst in the country for visiting supporters. Nothing more than a uncovered makeshift seating area for 900 supporters. But the friendly nature of the Brighton stewards help to make the bleak nature of the stadium a little more hospitable. The stand is set into a banking, separated from many other parts of the ground and a long way from the playing surface, given this is an athletics stadium by primary use. Think Rotherham United, think the Don Valley Stadium, but much worse. However, on a cold Tuesday February evening, 500 miles from home it could be a very difficult evening for Town fans if Town's recent Tuesday night performances are anything to go by. Post Code: BN1 5JD (this is for the Withdean Stadium, the Brighton club has a separate contact post code).
