Huddersfield Town progressed to the Third Round of the FA Cup with a 1-0 hard fought win at Port Vale thanks to a 12th minute strike from Nathan Clarke. The draw takes place live on ITV1 after the televised fixture at Kettering. The lucrative draw will be made by British Olympiad Sir Steven Redgrave and a star of English Women's football Kelly Smith.

The English 'Big Four' are numbered Arsenal (1), Chelsea (11), Liverpool (21) and Manchester United (23).

In 2007/2008 Town hosted and beat Premiership in Birmingham City and in 2005/2006 put in an excellent display in front of the big guns of Stamford Bridge. 6,000 travelling support saw Town beaten 2-1.

1,355 travelling fans made the journey to the Potteries and would have been pleased to see Town progress to the Third Round of the competition for only the third time in nine years - one of which they entered at the Third Round stage (the last time) in 2000/2001.

The Terriers progression now means that the first match of 2010 will be the FA Cup Third Round match. The League fixture planned for the Galpharm Stadium on the afternoon of Saturday January 02, 2010 will now need to rearranged. Should Town be paired away from home, the first home fixture of 2010 will be January 16 when Southend United travel to West Yorkshire.

Huddersfield Town was again backed by a very good number of supporters at Vale Park where over a quarter of the total attendance were backing Lee Clark's side. The Terriers have enjoyed big travelling support in cup competitions this season with over 3,900 travelling to St James Park for the second round Carling Cup tie against Newcastle United.

In the Johnstone's Paint Trophy competition Town took healthy numbers to both Rotherham United (Round 1) and Chesterfield (Round 2). Indeed Town fans made up 34% of the attendance at Rotherham and a just under 20% at Chesterfield.

Recently in the Coca-Cola League One Town took 3, 909 supporters to Boundary Park which made up 46% of the Sunday afternoon attendance in terrible conditions.

The loan deadline day passed over relatively peacefully for Lee Clark who now must use the squad he has until the January transfer window opens. No additions where added and no-one left the club either, however the Examiner is reporting that Town failed in an attempt to lure American born defender Zak Whitbread on loan.

Town are reported to have brought the Millwall centre-half to Yorkshire for talks but they could not agree on a terms and nothing happened. Whether or not this is something Lee Clark pursues at a later date.

As you'd expect from a club of Norwich's statue the stadium is big, bright and modern. At 26,018 it's one of the League's biggest stadiums.

As said away supports are given a portion of the Jarrold Stand. This stand was the last addition to the current guise of Carrow Road. The stadium as undergone total renovation since the 1980's and this was the last one finished in 2004. Away support are given approximately three blocks closest to the Barclay End.

Although 1,300 tickets have been given Norwich can supply up to 2,500 should there be a requirement for this and will offer Town fans a touchline view of the action at Carrow Road.

The stadium is dominated by the most recent developed part of the ground the callous East Stand - which is doubled tiered and can accommodate 17,000 supporters. Tomorrow Town entertain not only the Town faithful and the travelling support but also a live SKY TV audience and troops from the Yorkshire Regiment as the Terriers host their "Help For Heroes" match. The fixture that will feature an half time regimental drum roll and a guard of honour for the entrance of the players kicks off slight earlier tomorrow at 12:05.

Wycombe Wanderers new manager Gary Waddock is defiant in the tough task ahead of his Chairboys as he is adamant that his squad despite their lowly position of bottom will travel north full of confidence. They face a Terriers side who have regained their early season form by winning 4 of the last 5 matches in all competitions in the process scoring 16 goals conceding just three times and keeping three clean sheets.

Lee Clark's high scoring Terriers have not conceded a league goal since Yeovil Town took an early lead on August 29th. However, the defence was breached last week in the home FA Cup First Round match with high-flying League Two side Dagenham & Redbridge - however Town was leading 6-0 at the time.

20 year old striker Tom Denton is back in training with Huddersfield Town having had his loan spell at Cheltenham Town ended early. The player was due to stay with the League Two strugglers for six months, but following the instalment of acting boss John Schofield he has returned north earlier than the anticipated January date. The Yorkshire Regiment will be present at the match. The eagle eyed of you may have spotted the 'Afghanistan Supporters Branch' of Huddersfield Town proudly displayed at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday evening shown three times during the ITV coverage of England's 3-0 victory over Belarus in the final World Cup Qualification match.

The club will honour the dedication and sacrifice of the Armed Forces with a minute's applause before kick-off on November 14th.

In addition Town is offering reduced ticket prices to all armed service personnel (past and present) and their families (maximum of 2 adults and 2 children) for the following special price:

Forces Special Senior - £5

Robbie Simpson who joined the Terriers in the summer from Coventry City for a fee of around £300,000 has not had the easiest starts to his Town career. Today he learnt that his niggling thigh injury is worst than first feared and he will be missing for at least a month.

In other news from the physio, fellow striker will tomorrow go for a scan on the shoulder he picked up in the 1-0 victory at Oldham Athletic on Sunday. Anthony Pilkington who also picked up an injury at Boundary Park should return to training tomorrow.
