Large travelling army follows the Town on Sunday Huddersfield Town's 'War of the Roses' Sunday battle with Oldham Athletic at Boundary Park (kick off 14:00) is expected to attract a large and vociferous following over the Pennines from the White Rose County. Town fans are expected to swell Boundary Park on Sunday with around 3,000 supporters as the Terriers look to improve on a poor away showing this season. The Town players and management are expecting a tough battle against Dave Penny Lancashire outfit, whose squad contains a number of former Terriers. Former strikers Keigan Parker and popular Pawel Abbott and joined in the Latics ranks by former Town captains Andy Holdsworth and Jon Worthington. The Town midfield can rest a little easier though as Worthington will miss Sunday's clash through injury. Often tough and titanic battles between the two sides, you can expect a lively atmosphere at Boundary Park and a fiery pacey temperament on the field as well as the Terriers look to return back to Yorkshire with all three points for only the second time this season. For Oldham, they have a relatively poor home form with striker Abbott stating that the Latics are finding their away form easier to come by than their form at Boundary. Over the next few weeks the Terriers have a number of difficult away matches. Notwithstanding the fixture at Oldham Lee Clark also takes his side the even shorter distance to Elland Road in early December as the Terriers face the first of two West Yorkshire derbies with Leeds United. If Town could start picking up points on their travels, with an excellent strong home form they could start pushing towards the automatic promotion places, currently just siting outside the play-offs. Other than Chris Lucketti, Robbie Simpson and Tom Clark, the management have no further injury worries ahead of the Roses clash on Sunday. Town away support which always travels in some numbers will be hoping Town can start grabbing points on the road and will support the spirit of Lee Clark who believes that once the points start coming away from the Galpharm Stadium the club will go on a bit of roll because the squad is full of "many good players." Clark called the support "magnificent" and he will be keen to reward another big travelling army by recording a win on the road. The club has sold 2,781 tickets at lunchtime on Sunday and with a sell-out crowd expected the club as asked supporters to sit in the seat as allocated on the ticket. Clark is full of confidence ahead of the fixture with Dave Penny's side but wants his players to cut out the individual mistakes that have cost Town at Charlton, Colchester and Walsall in recent away matches. Should be a cracking fixture and to all Town fans - get behind the boys on Sunday and back the Terriers to three vital away points. It could be very exciting with the home side wanting revenge for the 2-1 defeat at the hands of Town at the venue last season and the fact that the current League One leaders have not beaten the Terriers in four attempts. Town performing the double over United last season for the first time in over 80 years. This fixture at Elland Road is a Category A match. Tickets will be sold in the following phases: Phase 1 - Monday November 16 - Season ticket holders who are also Blue and White Foundation members or patrons and also have four ticket stubs from away games this season. Elland Road has been the home of United since their formation in 1919 and at 40,242 is not only the biggest stadium in League One, but one of the biggest football stadiums in England. It was the venue of one of Town's recent great Cup victories - a 1-0 victory over Leeds in the Milk Cup in 1982. The stadium is dominated by the most recent developed part of the ground the callous East Stand - which is doubled tiered and can accommodate 17,000 supporters. It will be one of the most expensive grounds to visit, but should the result be the same as last season when the Terriers dominated the second half and justifiably took all three points then it will be worth every penny of the £26 adults will have to pay for the right to watch Town at Elland Road! Supporting Town - it is not a choice, but a divine right ... supporting Huddersfield Town all the way. - Latest match Video Highlights - Leyton Orient (home) View the match highlights from the BBC of Saturday's 4-0 home demolition of Leyton Orient on Saturday, a fixture in which the visitors keeper took the man of the match award despite conceding four goals! The Terriers brushed aside a disappointing loss at Charlton a week early to totally dominate an Orient side who could have seen more goals from a buoyant Town side. If only Lee Clark could translate home form into away form the Terriers would be siting right in the automatic places rather than just outside the play-off zone. Despite a fluid first half in which the Terriers attacked the Fantastic Media Family Stand first it was not until the final moments of first half time added on that the Terriers through impressive Gary Roberts took the lead. In a second half dominated then by Town, three headed goals ensured for the second successive home game Town would run out 4-0 winners. Click here to view the video highlights - |

The indifferent start to the Reserve League continued for Huddersfield Town, as Paul Stephenson's crashed to a very poor 2-0 home loss (the second in succession) to an impressive Hartlepool United side. Goals in both periods from the North East side was enough to hand Stephenson's former employers all three totesports.com points. CEO pours water on paper talk! As Town got back to winning ways on the Saturday with victory over Exeter City (4-0) the newspapers on Sunday and Monday decided to talk about other clubs raiding the Terriers for players. In form Jordan Rhodes who scored an hat-trick on the Saturday is said to be a subject of a £2 million bid from Wolves of the Premiership, with goalkeeper Alex Smithies a reported £3 million target for Stoke City. Indeed Stoke are also reportedly interested in Rhodes as well. But Lee Clark who said he is supported by a "very wealthy owner" and a manager who got the support of chairman and owner Dean Hoyle recently following a barren spell of five league matches without victory was backed in his judgement by the club's CEO. Nigel Clibbens told the official Town website that although interest in Town's young squad is not a surprise the new era of Huddersfield Town is one that does not subscribe to "selling our best players for short term profit". Clibbens categorically stating that, that is simply not "part of the plan". With Dean Hoyle's investment in the club not motivated by financial gain, and with no footballing or financial reason to sell anyone the message is clear from the Town board 'We are not a selling club'. So Town are in a very fortunate position to be able to strongly and vehemently fend off any approaches with a 'Not For Sale' statement as the club looks to the future and longer term and that is down solely to the wonderful investment in the club by owner Dean Hoyle. - All Rhodes lead home! With Town back to winning ways thanks to a stunning headed hat-trick from Jordan Rhodes, he would have been delighted to have featured on BBC Radio 5 Live's "The Football League Show" this Monday. He joined the Terriers from Ipswich Town in the summer for a reported £300,000 and has scored 11 goals already this season leading to newspaper talk that a couple of Premiership clubs will be making an offer for the Barnsley born striker in the January transfer window. To listen click on the link below and scroll to 49 minutes 35 seconds for the Rhodes section on "The Football League Show". Click here to listen to the 5 live podcast - |

Charlton Athletic (Away) | League One | Saturday October 17 2009 TICKETS ARE ON GENERAL SALE There are not many tougher away trips on the agenda than a visit to The Valley the home of former Premier League side Charlton Athletic. Managed by Phil Parkinson (yes him!) the Addicks are expected to perform very well at League One level and they are currently proving that theory right siting second in the table. The good start to the season from the Londoners has been boosted by a £7 million investment from a number of their Directors. The aim of Athletic and their board is a return to the Championship at the first time of asking. Certainly not one of the cheapest grounds to visit perhaps some in administration at Charlton believe they are still playing in top-flight football! The cost of admission is as follows: Adults - £25 Disabled Admission - £17, carer admitted to the stadium free of charge. The programme will cost you £3.00. The Valley is one of the largest stadiums in League One, indeed in England outside of the Premiership and since it was opened 90 years ago has transformed beyond all recognition. The official capacity is 27,111, with the recent piece of development completed in 2002. The mid 1990's saw a once derelict stadium, begin the transformation to how it stands, and it is a proud stadium for the Charlton Athletic fans to call "home". The Addicks returned to the Valley after spending 10 years in exile in 1992. They ground shared with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park for many years. The South Stand of the Valley is where visiting supporters are housed. The Jimmy Seed Stand as it is called can accommodate 3,000 travelling supporters, so making it one of the biggest stadiums for away following in League One. The away stand is the only one not 'connected' to the other stands and the only one with a supporting pillar which is centre positioned! Surely the South Stand is the next redevelopment on the agenda, as it remains pretty much like it was back in the 1990's. Take away the stress of travelling to The Valley?
