Kay signs for Town!

Lee Clark today made his first off season signing at a sun-soaked Galpharm Stadium. Tranmere Rovers' Anthony Kay will change the white and blue of Rovers to the blue and white stripes of Huddersfield Town has he signed a two-year deal. Kay joins the Terriers on a free transfer since the 26 year old was out of contract at Prenton Park.

Kay is a versatile player being able to play in defence or midfield and the Yorkshireman returns to the White Rose having joined Tranmere from Barnsley in 2007. With the Tykes Kay was used as a right back but was switched into midfield whilst at Rovers.

Lee Clark is delighted to have captured Kay who scored two against the Terriers as Town lost 3-1 at Prenton Park in March. That brace for Kay was part of 12 goals the Tranmere Rovers captain scored last season. Clark commented that he had had his eye on the player for sometime and well before the player scored two against his side.

Kay, who will be at the Stadium tomorrow for the change strip launch (11:00-15:00) told the official website that he shares the goals of both Clark and Chairman Dean Hoyle and the new recruit, the first of around six said "I think we have a really good chance of promotion next season." He cannot wait to get started and will be team-mates again with Robbie Williams who was part of the Barnsley squad with Kay.

Terriers set for double transfer swoop!

Lee Clark is set to make his first signings of the off season by capturing Tranmere Rovers midfielder Anthony Kay (26) and long time target striker Danny Graham (23) from Carlisle United. Due to Graham's age Town would have to pay compensation having missed out on the quality striker during the transfer window in January. Town also remain linked according to rumours to both Simon Cox and Ricky Lambert.

Although nothing concert as come out of the Galpharm, Clark has said that there is a number of strikers he is keeping tabs on and confirmed Danny Graham is one of those names.

In addition to these two, Clark is also attempting to bring in defender Martin Kelly on a season long loan from Liverpool.

Holdsworth rejects new contract

Andy Holdsworth has rejected the new contract offer from Huddersfield Town and the right sided Academy product will leave the Galpharm Stadium at the end of the month.

Town and the 25 year old player failed to reach an agreement to extend on his 261 matches for the Terriers. Holdsworth was offered a three year deal to stay at the Galpharm Stadium.

We wish Andy all the best.

Released former club skipper finds new club

Excellent news for a excellent servant of Huddersfield Town today. Former club captain Jon Worthington, a product of the Town Academy, who has served the Terriers well since breaking into the first team back in 2002, today joined League One rivals Oldham Athletic on a two-year deal.

Worthington who was told he was surplus to requirements by boss Lee Clark was out of contract this summer at the Galpharm Stadium and will become an integral part of Dave Penny's midfield plans for next season. Worthington, born in Dewsbury but lives in Gomersal must be delighted that he has found a local club, meaning he should not need to move.

'Worthers' started 184 league games for the Terriers scoring 12 times and was last season loaned out to Yeovil Town for nine matches.

So much is Worthington in the minds of Oldham already, new assistant manager at Boundary Park Martin Gray, has said that he is an early candidate for the captain's armband, a role he did so proudly for Town. Gray has said that Worthington is the right type of player his Athletic side needed.

We wish Jon well who has said he is "looking forward to his fresh start" at Boundary Park as he waves goodbye on his Town career.

In addition to Worthington leaving the club today, so too did Academy goalkeeper Damian Eastham. The 17 year old who has been with the club for 2 years leaves for personal reason and with the mutual consent of both the club and the player. We wish young Damian all the best in his football career.

Terriers launch 10-point pledge for next season!

GET BEHIND THE TOWN EVOLUTION!

Town's ambitious plan to become "The Yorkshire Club" may seem a bold and exciting, if somewhat arrogant move/statement, but the Town evolution is going about things with poise and desire. Next season Chairman Dean Hoyle, who today takes over the reigns of Chairman Huddersfield Town from Ken Davy as listed a 10 point pledge which we list below.

Hoyle is embracing a new culture, a new era, a new start and we are now "on the journey" and being 'on the journey' means 'together ... forever!' Hoyle is desperate, as a fan, as Chairman to turn the potential of Huddersfield Town into reality.

Town are just at the beginning of a journey, but nonetheless Town are "on the journey" and it promises under an ambitious Chairman to be an exciting and prosperous one.

The aim of the 10 points - "Honesty, Integrity, Trust, Commitment, Quality, Pride, Respect, Character, Value and Success" will drive Town forward and make the club distinctive.

They have also launched an exciting new website - theyorkshireclub.com

Surplus to requirements is what Parker told!

Keigan Parker who has been told he is surplus to Town manager Lee Clark's plans could still yet be moving to the Scottish Premier League. Parker is currently on trial at Kilmarnock. Parker was signed by previous manager Stan Ternent on a 2-year deal last summer.

-

Cadamateri signs for SPL side Dundee United

Striker-cum-winger Danny Cadamateri has agreed to sign a two-year contract with SPL outfit Dundee United having turned down the offer from Town. Cadamateri will sign the deal with the Tannadice club in the summer.

Dundee United have agreed to sign Danny Cadamarteri following the troubled striker's refusal to sign a new contract with Huddersfield Town.

United manager Craig Levein who previously signed Cadamarteri for Leicester, said: "Danny can play as a striker and a winger, so he brings versatility and experience. He also provides experience, which is very important given the relatively young squad we have here at Tannadice."

Terriers match days a hit with numbers!

The Terriers consolidated 23 league match home attendances amassed 307,071 at an average of 13,351 an increase on last season's attendances of 42%. This is against the League One trend that saw attendances drop for the 2008/2009 season by over 5%.

The 13,351 average attendance is the largest for the last nine season's and since the turn to 2000. The last time Town got a higher average home attendance was 1999/2000 (13,618) when the club narrowly missed out on the now Championship end of season play-offs. The only other two average season attendances to beat the season just finished since the 1970 was 1970/1971 (23,228) and 1971/1972 when the average at Leeds Road was 15,464.

Across The Football League combined divisional attendances rose on last season with The Championship with 9,875 million (in a total of 16,352 million) putting it as the fourth most watched football league in Europe. Overall The Football League saw an increase of 0.9% testament to the product offered by the Coca-Cola League in England with game average sitting at 9,875.

The Championship enjoyed a year on year growth of 5.1% but Leagues One and Two saw declines 5.4% and 3.9% respectively. It is the fifth consecutive season that The Football League as attracted over 16 million spectators to matches, evidence that the product, brand and experience is still enjoyed by football supporters.

The League acknowledged the clubs pricing policies given the prevailing financial crisis and family areas have seen a massive increase in occupancy.

The Terriers away travel was third in the League One followings. Town's average for their 23 away matches was 944.

Pastures new for seven of the eight out of contract players!

Today Town have confirmed the release of winger Malvin Kamara, defender Daniel Codman and striker Daniel Broadbent as manager Lee Clark continues to make plans for a serious promotion push in 2009/2010 as the Terriers look to commence the first season in their second centenary with promotion to the Championship.

Clark with clear plans to develop the club's playing capabilities is been linked with a move for Hartlepool United defender Michael Nelson and Robbie Simpson a striker with Coventry City - a side that features on the pre-season schedule for Town.

Other players linked are Rickie Lambert, Kevin Philips, Dominic Blizzard and Clark is keen on bringing in on loan Liverpool defender Martin Kelly for a season-long loan.

For Kamara the exit from Town will come as no surprise having failed to perform during his two years at the Galpharm Stadium. The Academy products of Codman and Broadbent have also failed to progress as the club would have liked into the first team and both ended the season out on loan. Broadbent made six Town appearances, whilst Codman never gained a first team Town start.

Of the eight out of contract players in the off season, Andy Holdsworth remains the only one to be in current discussions over a new contract. Danny Cadamateri was offered one but rejected the offer, Andy Booth has retired whilst Dominik Werling and Jon Worthington joins the list of players released by Lee Clark.

The manager has commented that he wishes the released players well in their future career and will offer good references should any club enquire about them.

Chairman Dean Hoyle has also commented that the club does not have to sell highly-rated England international goalkeeper Alex Smithies and talks of a move to Blackburn Rovers and Everton in the off season have been vehemently played down by the chairman.

-

Club says continue to buy your season tickets

The club is aiming to offer Lee Clark a bumper promotion war chest of transfer funds by encouraging as many Town fans as possible to purchase a season ticket for next season. The club is taking Chairman Dean Hoyle's "you buy, we'll buy" message throughout the area in a bid to increase on the current season ticket total of 8,400.

Excluding last season's Centenary offer the mark of 8,400 is just behind the 2000/2001 top total of 9,100 and the club as said that the £99 adult season ticket allocation in the lower tier of The Fantastic Media Family Stand have all sold out.

Dean Hoyle the Terriers new chairman calls it an "exciting time". The successful businessman and life long fan Hoyle says "The fans have been great", as he stated to them buy the seat and he will buy the players. Hoyle continued that he is "determined to get it right".

All the right ingredients the Terriers want to hear given the passion shown by Lee Clark and his coaching staff and the Geordie's desire to bring in quality player acquisitions ready for the 2009/2010 kick-off (the team returns for pre-season training on Monday June 29th).

The club is also placing it's message on strategically placed billboards with the strap line of "Honesty, Integrity, Trust, Commitment, Quality, Pride, Respect, Character, Value, Success". There is only one Huddersfield Town, and they are your club, so get behind the Terriers and purchase a season ticket!

Five Further Pre-Season Matches Confirmed

Town will visit Corby Town who have this season been promoted to the Blue Square South division on Wednesday July 15th (19:30) and Harrogate Town on Tuesday July 28th (19:00).

The Terriers will host Championship side Coventry City at the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday July 25th (15:00).

The two confirmed in the last couple of days is a trip to the regular pre-season trip to Welfare Ground to face AFC Emley (19:00, July 17th, 2009) and the second a trip to Bradford Park Avenue on Wednesday July 22nd with a 19:00 kick-off time.

-

Commercial Role for Boothy!

Retiring Legend Andy Booth who will hang up his full time playing boots (although the Terriers will retain his registration 'just in case') will become a Club Ambassador.

This role will see Booth join the club's commercial department and will see the striker interact with new and existing business opportunities for the club.

The club's Director of Business Development Sean Jarvis called it a "privilege" to have Boothy involved with the Terriers in such a capacity.

Boothy scored his 150th goal (132 in the league) for Huddersfield Town on the last day of the season at Leyton Orient and the legend made 450 appearances for the club 390 as starts.

Andy Booth has also been given the title of 'Honorary Life President' by the Supporters Association', a move the player called an honour.

On the ambassadorial role with the club Booth said he will be the link between the players and the local community. His 150 goals for the Terriers put him third in the list of all time leading goal scorers.

-

Five Academy products offered deals

Lee Clark has given five Academy products full time roles with the club for next season. Spencer Harris (defender), Leigh Franks (defender), Jack Hunt (midfield), Liam Ridehalgh (defender) and Lewis Nightingale (midfield) have all been offered first team contracts.

Development Coach Paul Stephenson will continue to work with the five youngsters to ensure a smooth transition from Academy to first team action.

Eight of their fellow second-year scholars have not been offered deals they are David Prickering, Stephen Brook, Lewis Collinson, Luke Durham, Luke Williams, Danny Barlow, David Heagney and Chris Pert.

20 year old midefielder James Berrett committed a further 3 years of his career to the club by signing a new contract. He is now signed up at Town until the summer of 2012.

However striker Danny Cadamteri looks set to be leaving the club, with Dundee United the desitination having rejected Town's contract offer.

Cadamateri was offered a one year deal with the option of a second year dependant on the number of appearances that the Cleckheaton born attacker made in the first team squad during year one.

However at this stage of his career Cads has decided he wants something more longer term and is speaking with other interested clubs.

Cadamateri will join Jon Worthington in exiting the club, with Worthington a former captain of the Terriers not offered a new deal. Worthington who spent some part of the season out on loan has known for a while he was not part of Clark's plans for next season and will look for a new side.

Lee Clark has spelled out his transfer plans over the summer aiming to trim the size of the Town squad but filling it with quality. The manager who will be involved as manager of his first ever off season wants at least two quality players for each position.

Clark hopes to have focussed players next season who are fully committed to the club and know they have to perform "every sing day they come in" to ensure they retain a first team place.

Clark has made no comment regarding the future of Dominik Werling and await Andy Holdsworth's decision over the offer of a new contract.

Town have quickly moved to pour water on rumours the club is to offer Birmingham City striker Kevin Phillips a deal. New club chairman Dean Hoyle has said there as been no contact with the Blues striker.

Manager Lee Clark who played with vetern striker Phillips at Sunderland has however said that should Phillips be interested in a move to the club he would "Certainly do the deal ... I would love to have Kevin at this football club".

Phillips scored double-digit goals this season with 13 as the Blues were promoted to the Premier League.

-

Jevons stays on loan at Gigg!

Striker Phil Jevons has had his loan spell with League Two side Bury extended to allow him to feature in Bury's League Two play-off campaign.

He featured the full 90 minutes of last nights 1-0 victory in the Shakers first leg match at Shrewsbury Town.

-

Long trips on the agenda for next season's League One campaign

As League One waved goodbye to promoted Leicester City and Peterborough United and to the four relegated sides (Hereford United, Cheltenham Town, Crewe Alexandra and Northampton Town) the league will welcome seven new clubs (prior to the conclusion of the play-offs).

Next season Town will have some long trips on the fixture schedule including Southampton (relegated from the championship) and promoted from League Two side Exeter City. Other clubs joining League One for next season will be Norwich City and Charlton (both relegated from the Championship). Promoted from League Two are Brentford and Wycombe.
