Click here to check out our latest The Shop Special Offers - Davy looks to brighter Terriers future As the Terriers close out a rather changeable 2008 current club Chairman Ken Davy has issued a positive rallying note to any would be doubters regarding the success of Town. Following three different managers in charge of the club, on the pitch as been largely disappointing for Town, but off it things have never looked brighter since the involvement of Dean Hoyle who will become the Chairman of Town in May 2009. Under Hoyle and Davy, Town brought a season ticket package to blow the minds of Town fans and with it brought in over 16,000 season ticket holders. The club may now have a rookie Chairman and a rookie first team manager but what they may lack in experience they make up for in commitment and determination. The financial books might not make pretty reading, but at the moment the club is been bank rolled by fan and successful businessman Dean Hoyle, and respect is due to Hoyle for what he is doing. Off the field the club is going some places ... throughout the realms of the club they have people who care dearly about the club. None more so that Director of Business Development Sean Jarvis who must be eagerly anticipating the Saturday clash with his former club Oldham Athletic. Ken Davy has his knockers and somthings he could have done better, but that happens in all walks of life. Davy took the club out of the dark days of Administration to the more brighter days now as he looks towards a brighter future with "increased optimism". Both off the pitch and on it, Davy is confident that the targets can be made... with promotion on the field, if achieved would be a fruitful highlight given the terrible start to the campaign under Stan Ternent. Once again living legend Gerry Murphy steadied the Town ship and with him and Graham Mitchell gave the new management team led by Lee Clark a wonderful platform to commence their Town careers. Despite the 3-0 defeat at Carlisle United on Boxing Day things have commenced very well for Clark has he begins his first ever football management position within Hoyle's evolution of our great football club. Davy is joining the ranks of Town officials to openly publicise his positive feelings and so may they continue. In his new year message on the club's official website, he said: "As the old year draws to a close it is good to be able to look forward to 2009 with increased optimism. "Two months ago, despite having a really promising squad of players, we were struggling at the lower end of the table. It was clear that to have a realistic chance of achieving our objectives for the season it was essential for us to reach the top half of the table by the end of 2008. "The Town players, led magnificently first by Gerry Murphy and Graham Mitchell and now by Lee Clark and his team, have shown their ability to rise to the challenge. We always believed the players had the ability to deliver and it is now great for the supporters and everyone involved with Huddersfield Town to see the way this determination to succeed is paying off on the pitch." So the message is simple ... enjoy the rest of the season Town fans and continue as you are currently doing to support the team with vociferous passion and maintain that wonderful faith that is pouring throughout everything connected with HTAFC. - |

Terriers Assistant Manager McDermott aims for Premier League Highly experienced and successful in his capacity first as a player then a coach the arrival of Terry McDermott almost a fortnight ago was seen as a massive coup to Huddersfield Town completing what is an exciting coaching set up under Lee Clark. But McDermott having seen his side win two homes games on the bounce under the new regime and despite the disappointing loss at Carlisle on Boxing Day is aiming to take Town to the very top - a place Terry was a player with Liverpool and a coach at Newcastle United. Ambitious maybe, but certainly the right message to be giving out to the supporters and players who in recent weeks following the departure of Stan Ternent have improved beyond recognition. He told the club's official website: "With the stadium and the support, Huddersfield Town are geared for the Championship, and going into 2009, we're in a great position. "Myself, Lee and the other members of the management team (Derek Fazackerley and Steve Black) certainly believe we can do it. If the players start to believe it too - and after six wins in eight league games, they should - then there's nothing stopping us. "Getting to the Championship would be a terrific step up, and a great reward for the backing the fans are giving us at the moment, but then why not aim for the top? "Hull show what can be achieved. I'm told Town and Hull played each other on New Year's Day in a League Two game just five years ago, and look where they are now. Then you look at the likes of Bolton, Wigan, Stoke, Blackburn and West Brom who are all up there. They've all been where we are now, and with a great chairman and chairman-elect behind us, we can follow their lead." - Galpharm braced for Oldham invasion! Sunday's big crowd of 15,228 could be smashed by Saturday's visit of promotion chasing Oldham Athletic who are promising to bring a big following the short distance from Lancashire. With the side improving and the club buzzing following the appointment of Lee Clark and his experienced management team and fresh from the fine 2-0 defeat of Scunthorpe United officials will be hoping that the current season high of 16,212 can be broken. Leicester City set that record in October but Oldham have currently only around 900 tickets of the 2,600 offered to them left for sale for the big Roses clash at the Galpharm Stadium. Roses matches are always special occasions and this will be no different with Athletic placed in the play off positions and Town's new management team buoyant that their chargers can still make a top six finish. The sides met at Boundary Park back in September when a lively 1-1 draw was played out. The Terriers took a deserved lead through Ian Craney midway through the first half but the home side levelled early in the second half to take a share of the points. It was a lively and tough encounter Town had at Boundary Park against the then league leaders with seven bookings given by referee Kevin Friend. But the 1,596 travelling Town support will have been delighted with the point. Although a result was the fair result at Boundary Park, if the Terriers had been further in front at half time following a dominant first half display, there could have been no complaints from the home contingent. Oldham currently sit in 5th place on 41 points with John Sheridan's side enjoying five victories on their travels. Last time out was a 3-0 victory at bottom club Crewe on Boxing Day whilst they dropped two points on Sunday in a goal less home tie with Carlisle. Prior to the Crewe victory Oldham recorded 5 successive draws. In their last 10 league matches the Latics have a record of 4 wins, 5 draws and a single defeat (at home to Cheltenham in the FA Cup) so the Lancashire side is a very difficult team to defeat. So get down to the Galpharm Stadium this Saturday and enjoy the special atmosphere of a Roses encounter. Please be aware of the Galpharm Stadium's ticket office opening times that can be found within the updates for 28/12. Supporters can contact the Galpharm Box Office on 08704 44 45 52 for further ticket information and purchase. For more information on the Huddersfield Town experience click here.- Match Officials Appointment - Oldham Athletic (Home) Saturday January 03 2009 The officials for the contest on Saturday which kicks-off at 15:00 are Jarnail Singh (match referee) from Middlesex, an assistant duo of Tony Harrington (Cleveland) and Kevin Hayward (Staffordshire) and the fourth official is Jock Waugh from South Yorkshire. Having had some of the worst officials seen at the Galpharm Stadium on Sunday against Scunthorpe United in a very long time (and we have had some poor ones this season!) lets hope the officials are far far better for this Roses clash. Singh began referring in 1985 so he is highly experienced and joined the National List of Referees in 2004 having enjoyed four years on the assistant list. The Midlander will need to use all his experience for what should be a lively and strong encounter. Singh as officiated 16 matches this season. Singh was the referee for the September trip to Cheltenham, which the Terriers won 2-1; he booked six players that afternoon, four from Town. The previous season Singh officiated in the same fixture at Whaddon Road and booked no-one, as Town won 2-0 in December 2007. He has yet to referee an Oldham Athletic match. He has shown 62 yellow cards and 2 red cards. His yellow card average this season is 3.875 per game. He is at times regarded as a fussy referee. Singh is a Police Community Support Officer in West London. - |

Flynn returns from loan Midfielder Michael Flynn has returned today from Darlington where he spent a month on loan with the League Two side. Flynn will be aiming to make the Roses battle on Saturday at the Galpharm Stadium having regained his fitness. The former Terriers top scorer will be hoping to reignite his Town career and show what he is worthy of under new boss Lee Clark. Town have also admitted that although Clark is aiming for a top six finish in order for new talent to arrive, current players will have to go. It has come in a frank and concise interview by new CEO Nigel Clibbens. Clibbens understands that the board have a budget to work to and will only work outside this in "special one off" circumstances. The Terriers are set to operate the so-called 'revolving door policy' to transfers. - |

Clark confident as he sees Terriers bounce back After a poor Boxing Day showing at Carlisle United in which Lee Clark saw his Town side deservedly well beaten, he will have been happy with the response today during the 2-0 Galpharm success over a battling promotion chasing Scunthorpe United side. From the first whistle, the Terriers were 'up for the game' and goals from former Iron Jim Goodwin - his first in Town colours. Goodwin's goal certainly quietened down hostile visiting supporters against him, and a late strike from the inform and terrific Gary Roberts got Town back onto winning ways and the manager looking upwards rather than negatively. This victory the seventh in the last nine matches maintained Town's 10th place position in the League One table and ensured that they can now be regarded as top-six realistic candidates. Rookie manager Lee Clark was up against a decent manager in Nigel Adkins, who at one point was tipped to become the next manager of the Terriers and despite the Irons boss claims he felt they could have had a point, the battling and excellent second half showing from Huddersfield Town made them worthy winners. The response delighted the new Terriers boss. "I am delighted with the result and the performance. It had everything; passion, desire, commitment and some quality football at times." Clark beamed, you will not hear many Town supporters conflict this statement. Once again the Town fans backed Clark's side passionately and vociferously and despite the let down on Boxing Day the 13,600 Town fans in a crowd of 15,228 left the Galpharm Stadium this Sunday afternoon delighted with the three points. It will be another big and difficult match this Saturday against Oldham Athletic, another promotion chasing outfit. However, if Town are wanting a top-six finish it is one they need to win. -

Tremendous support from South Stand! The South Stand trial might be over after a four match package, but the Terriers who packed into the Pink Link Stand this afternoon backed Town with tremendous sound for the whole match and were the '12th man' as Town recorded a worthy 2-0 victory in Lee Clark's managerial opener. The club has promised to assess the trial, which started with the Yeovil Town fixture on Tuesday October 28th and included Leyton Orient, Walsall and Hereford United. The noise generated throughout the four matches and the lack of any trouble must surely warrant a 'success' tag' applying to the trial and in future the doors opening to Town fans to the South Stand. The police and stewards seem much more jovial this afternoon and all in all there was a brilliant atmosphere, which only capped off a fantastic 2-0 home victory and a great start to Christmas. Manager Lee Clark acknowledged the support from the South Stand calling them "absolutely superb". He twice gave a wave over to the Pink Linkers when chanted to. He thanked the supporters for their great support, which began before the match and went through half time to the final whistle. The new manager might have seen his side start slower than he would have liked, but he ended his first ever manager game with three points and a broad smile, over one of football's longest reigning manager's in Hereford's Graham Turner. During half time Gerry Murphy and Graham Mitchell got the accolades as they performed the half time draw. Then for the 'hit the cross bar' challenge Dean Hoyle and Sean Jarvis took their accolades. We will keep you up to date with any further matches where home fans have the South Stand opened to them. -

Goals: Nathan Clarke (70), Roberts (77) Hereford United Subs Not Used: Broadhurst, Threlfall, Gwynne. Goals: None Attendance Referee Mr D Webb (Lancashire) - Chairman's Report 2008 - income up, loss down on '07 In his fifth and final Chairman's Report Ken Davy has revealed that turnover for 2008 increased to £4.63million which generated an operating loss of £735,000 less than the previous 12 month reporting period. In his report Davy says he welcomed Dean Hoyle's injection of cash as the Heckmondwike born greetings card tycoon bought 40% of HTAFC. Davy also stated that he has committed to provide funds to the football club for at least the next two years. Davy in closing gave his thanks to everyone concerned with the club and believes the prospects for the club are positive with the Academy developments at Storthes Hall planned due to start very soon. Despite a decent run in the FA Cup the 2007/2008 was largely disappointing with the removal of Andy Ritchie and his management team and a finishing league position of only 10th when the board had hoped for a play off place. The 10th place finish was largely due to an amazing last nine league match run which saw the Terriers lose just once and that was under the guidance of Gerry Murphy and Graham Mitchell. At the end of the current season Davy will relinquish his position of Chairman Huddersfield Town with Chairman-Elect Dean Hoyle stepping up. But it cannot be forgotten that Ken Davy took the club out of the dark days of Administration and stabilised the club enough to be in the exciting position it is now. He still owns 60% of the football club and with Hoyle helped to fund an amazing Centenary Season Ticker offer where adult tickets cost from just £100! Looking to the future Dean Hoyle has said he has enough money without any additional funding to take Town into the Championship and keep them there. That is why he has brought in a quality management team with excellent support staff in Steve Black and Derek Fazackerley - all who have coached at the highest level and well regarded in their trade. What we need is Lee Clark to do what Mick Buxton once promised - "To remember a headline in Terrier Talk in the mid 80's. Asked what was required to get Town into the elite again Mick Buxton replied 'give me 15,000 Town fans and I'll give you top flight soccer'". But perhaps now, and I am perhaps one of the worst for this, the club needs to look to the future now rather than remembering the past and our former glories. Winning the league three times ina row is special and amazing, but the present and future is what we need to focus on now. Happy times ahead for the club, but then again supporting Town always as its ups and downs but you are born to support the Terriers and that is why Huddersfield Town is quite quite special. There are good people throughout the Town club. From the board through to the office staff, the football management staff and the players. The Academy is successful and will provide Town with a good platform with the newly agreed 'home grown quota' agreed this week by The Football League and member clubs. The report is released as a new management team under Lee Clark start yet another chapter in the history of Huddersfield Town. After two false dawns in Andy Ritchie then Stan Ternent can the 'Clark Chapter' provides Town fans with the hope and joys of success. Lets hope so - keep the faith, retain the optimism and sing yourself horse when supporting the Terriers starting with the home match today with Hereford United. Remember to continue to back the Town - who are your team Supporting Town - it is not a choice, but a divine right ... supporting Huddersfield Town all the way. - |

"Teflon Terry" joins Terriers! Lee Clark has added to his coaching staff by appointing experienced Terry McDermott has assistant manager. McDermott joins the new coaching staff of Derek Fazacerley and Steve Black. McDermott yet another piece of the Town evolution is another Newcastle United connection. McDermont from the Ponteland area of Newcastle was assistant manager of the Toon under Kevin Keegan and will bring excellent experience to rookie manager Lee Clark who he knows from Clark's United playing days. Clark thanked the board for their backing and again sang praises of the ambitions of the Terriers board. McDermott will be unveiled at tomorrow's match with Hereford United. Dean Hoyle has now arguably created one of the best backroom staff outside of the Premiership at Town and is showing his love, passion and backing for the club. - Song for Dean Hoyle To the tune of The First Noel - chorus "Dean-o, Dean-o, Dean-o, Dean-o .... Born is the King of Huddersfield ... " Previously used for Jimmy Nick: …"Noo-el, Noo-el,…Noo-el, Noo-el,… Born is the King of Huddersfield, Noo-el, Noo-el,…Noo-el, Noo-el, Nicholson’s King of Huddersfield". -

Reserves back to winning ways! Reserve League leaders Huddersfield Town gave their new management team food for thought as they defeated Grimsby Town 4-2 at Emley this afternoon. A bright opening start from the second string saw goals from Danny Codman, Keigan Parker and Phil Jevons put Town 3-0 up inside the opening 16 minutes. Town were 4-2 up by half time with Parker completing a comeback success with the fourth for the experienced Town side, and surely ensuring his place in the side for the first team this weekend. Saturday is the third and final match that Town fans will be behind the goals in the South Stand, and to mark that new supporters group Cowshed Loyal wants to make a special extravaganza to welcome Lee Clark's new side onto the lush Galpharm turf. They want as many noisy Terriers as possible to join with them behind the goal and bring with them plenty of ticker tape to welcome the Town players on Saturday. So cut up any old newspapers, Christmas marketing catalogues and help create a decent atmosphere. Try to ignore the childish and heavy handed approach by the stewards and police to making fans sit down, it appears that is all they are wanting to do. Yes they have a job to do, but tolerance would be nice. So get behind the boys this Saturday, bring down your paper and give Lee Clark a real Huddersfield welcome. Any blue and white balloons would be nice, but it is doubtful the safety and security agencies at Town will allow these in. We'll never die, we'll never die (to the tune of Oh Christmas Tree) Join Cowshed Loyal and learn how you can help to improve the match day experience at Town click here for details.-

New boss "impressed" by Terriers! He may have only been in the job a matter of days but Lee Clark is already "impressed" by what he has seen from his playing staff. Clark who took over the managerial reins of the Terriers today from the interim pair of Gerry Murphy and Graham Mitchell was in the stands at Roots Hall has Murphy's side gained yet another impressive victory. Clark has inherited a side that is confident, winning and happy. Not the usual for a new manager to be in that position, as Saturday's victory moved Town to a season high of 10th in League One. Murphy who has conducted the role of Caretaker manager on three occasions has a record up there with the best of the best Town managers with nine clean sheets in the 18 he has managed. In his first ever training as manager Clark told the official website that he is "...really pleased" with the performance of the players on Saturday and in training today. He has already shown his respect to the way the players attempted to move and pass the ball at Roots Hall and the work ethic and attitude. Lets hope that the excellent away form can transgress into the home form, as Clark looks to improve on a decisively poor home record. Town have taken just 12 points from a possible tally of 30 from their 10 home matches so far this season, tasting victory on just three occasions - Northampton, Crewe and Walsall. They also exited the FA Cup at home, the only real blip on Murphy's third spell as caretaker boss. The home form was poor under previous manager Stan Ternent's, Murphy had just two league home matches winning one (Walsall 2-1) and losing one (Leyton Orient 0-1), showing that the players attitudes away from home need to be captured and brought into the home form. Perhaps that's where the new Performance Coach - Steve Black - and his physiological skills will come into play to eradicate the fear of the players in-front of their home fans. The players are confident that they can continue the recent good form under Clark and make a real push for a top six finish. Town's third away win on the bounce put them just seven points from the play-off's that despite Gerry Murphy not travelling to the match due to illness. Clark entered the dressing room after the match at Roots Hall to congratulate his new players on a very good performance, in which Ian Craney's 48th minute strike was enough to give the Terriers all three points. Clark's initial jon at the helm is much easier than it would have been just over a month ago and that goes down to the 'legend' Gerry Murphy and the quality shown by Graham Mitchell. Both should be very proud of what they have achieved for the club, and the fans should equally be proud to the pair - they have put pride and honour back into HTAFC. Town are now in 10th position in the league and must push on under Lee Clark and the next couple of months could be very interesting for everyone connected with the club. It will be a busy and tough Christmas and New Year period, but if Town want to finish up at the top end of the table, they need to win plenty of points over the holiday season. Remember, you have until this Friday to obtain tickets for the Fantastic Media Lower Stand for just £8, a considerable saving on match day prices. Season ticket holders wishing to 'sit' in the South Stand must ensure they present voucher 11 to the ticket office before 17:00 Friday. - |

We hope the club will choose, in conjunction with the safety officials and agencies to allow Town fans to re use this stand and "Keep the Cowshed flying high!". LEE CLARK IS THE NEW MANAGER OF HUDDERSFIELD TOWN Lee Clark has signed a deal with Huddersfield Town to see him become the new manager of the club until the summer of 2012. Clark's appointment bringing with him an experienced team ends a five week search by Chairman-Elect Dean Hoyle following the departure of Stan Ternent in early November. It will be the former Newcastle United playing legend's first ever management position and typifies the fantastic evolution Dean Hoyle is bringing to the Galpharm Stadium. He at 36 might be young, untried and a bit of a risk but it ticks all of Hoyle's "'a young, enthusiastic manager who has got the fire in their belly to match the ambitions of this club" boxes. This appointment is very much a Dean Hoyle appointment, and as such needs total backing from the Town faithful. Clark will have under him an exciting experienced team. The former England assistant team manager Derek Fazackerley is installed as Assistant Manager with the highly experienced Steve Black will be head of performance and fitness throughout the club - 'Performance Coach', a new and exciting role. Clark and his management team will offer new modern techniques to football management, which Clark has learnt during his global joints which have included spells at top Major League Soccer sides and Italian Giants Juventus. With his UEFA Pro licence and an excellent playing pedigree and his knowledge of playing and coaching at the highest level of English football, this season could just be about to take an excellent turn of fortune. Fazackerley himself was a tough central defender and played over 670 matches for Blackburn Rovers. He has coached at the very highest level and will be a quality acquisition to the club. Steve Black is a big man in every way. His personality his big, his posture even bigger, and he has a big technical understanding of fitness. Black is known to Clark and Fazackerley having worked under Kevin Keegan at Newcastle United as fitness coach. He has featured at the highest level of football and rugby union and is an academic in sports science. Purchase Black's autobiography by clicking here. Many will not know much about Steve Black but purchase his autobiography and see why this appointment could be a key one in the evolution of our great club. Black is commonly regarded as one of the most inspirational fitness gurus in the world. He has worked with the finest sportsmen in both rugby and football, while his advice and motivational skills have been sought by many, including Kevin Keegan, Peter Reid and Paul Bracewell. Black is also widely regarded as a key component behind the success of England Rugby Union kicking hero Johnny Wilkinson. John Vaughan will maintain his goalkeeper coaching role with the new man at the playing helm promising to have even more coaching roles created. Clark is a massive fan of Academies and one of the new roles will be a Development Coach. The new team's first match will be on Saturday December 20th when the Terriers entertain Hereford United. It is the fourth manager in 20 months and the 34th Town manager in the proud history of the famous blue and white stripes. Clark is planning on bringing the good days back to Town and his style will be one of a winning team! Although the former Norwich City assistant admitted he did not know much about the current playing staff at Town, everyone has a clean slate, but there is a budget to bring in new players. Gerry Murphy and Graham Mitchell who have done a wonderful interim job for the club during the search for Ternent's predecessor and continued in the role as management duo for Saturday's match at Southend United, although Murphy was ill and did not travel. Clark watched the match from the stands at Roots Hall as the Terriers won 1-0. thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk would like to welcome the new management team to the club and wish them the very best of luck in their new roles. We also urge all Town fans to get down to the Galpharm Stadium on Saturday and support the new management team. Under Gerry Murphy and Graham Mitchell they have been given an excellent platform from which to start and at a season high of 10th, the play offs could now be a real prospect for the improving Terriers. -

Toon legend to join the Terriers evolution! Huddersfield Town are in advanced negotiations with former Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark - the current number two at Norwich City to become the next manager of Huddersfield Town. Rumours have been rife for a couple of weeks regarding Clark becoming the next manager in charge at the Galpharm in a bid rejuvenate the fledging Terriers following a disappointing six months spell in charge from Stan Ternent. Clark fits Chariman-Elect Dean Hoyle's criteria for a manager - an untried fresh faced young manager and at just 36 years old the former England Under 21 would fit that completely. The former Newcastle United, Sunderland and Fulham tough battling midfielder saw his playing days ended by injury in the summer of 2006 and took to his first coaching position under Roeder at Newcastle United. Clark is on the verge of completing his pro coaching licence and could be a jewel of a find by Hoyle. Clark left St James Park to team up with Roeder for the second time at Carrow Road. Town have agreed a compensation deal with Norwich City for the Wallsend born coach and Newcastle United legend to become the next manager of Huddersfield Town, and offer Clark his first role in professional football management. Glenn Roeder manager Norwich City who earlier this month slammed the rumours that Clark was joining the Terriers has hailed his departing number two saying: "I always knew from day one when I first appointed Lee as reserve team coach at Newcastle how ambitious he was to become a manager one day. We’ve made it clear we would expect compensation for a man of Lee’s experience and potential and that has been agreed ." Roeder told his club's official website."At that stage he was just completing his 'A' licence and today he's just about to complete his 'Pro' licence, which he's been doing with the Northern Ireland FA. So today's news about Lee joining Huddersfield as their new manager has really come as no surprise to me. I feel he has enough experience to be his own man now and he goes with my best wishes and a big thanks for the part he played last year in helping the club to secure its Championship status. I just want to say I truly hope Lee goes on to fulfil his ultimate ambition by one day managing Newcastle United - any Geordie's dream." It is well acknowledged that Norwich City regard Clark highly and did not want to see their assistant manager leaving with Norwich supporters calling the impending loss of Clark "a big blow". The young manager is well respected in the game as a player and has a growing reputation as a coach and the Englishman has no better platform for his first stint as a professional manager. Huddersfield chairman-elect Dean Hoyle added: "We approached Norwich City for permission to talk to Lee Clark yesterday (Tuesday) about becoming our new manager and they allowed it. An undisclosed compensation package has been agreed between the two clubs and we are now at an advanced stage of negotiations with Lee." It is expected that the former England assistant team manager Derek Fazackerley will become Clark's assistant manager. The former Blackburn Rovers player was in the England set-up during Kevin Keegan's time in charge of the national side. Interim manager Gerry Murphy will take first team affairs of the Terriers match at Southend United on Saturday even if Clark is appointed before that time. That should mean that Clark's first game in charge as manager Huddersfield Town will be the home match against Hereford United on Saturday December 20. Clark's playing career spanned almost 18 years and took in just three clubs. North East giants Newcastle (twice) and Sunderland and London club Fulham. Clark supports Newcastle and started out with the Toon as a trainee. He fetched some £5.5 million pounds during his career which took in 422 matches (a further 76 as a sub) scoring 66 times in all competitions. He also feature 11 times for England school boys. His best goalscoring record was the 1997-1998 season when he scored 13 times for Sunderland. As a coach the tough battling diminutive midfield dynamo started out at Newcastle as a first team coach (2006), later taking on the role of reserve team manager. In November 2007 he rejoined his Newcastle United manager Glenn Roeder at Norwich City where he performed the role of assistant manager. Further news on the appointment when it becomes official, and this will end Town's five week search for a new manager since the parting of the ways with Stan Ternent in early November. - Christmas stocking filler! Hoyle has appointed 40 year old Nigel Clibbens who comes from Wakefield to the post which was last filled by Andrew Watson in 2006. Clibbens will join the club on a full time basis in the months to come but in the interim period will take more of an active role with Hoyle, who he advised as part of Hoyle's major investment in Town earlier this year. The accountant will be given the brief to drive the club forward on a day to day basis and Clibbens will be responsible of turning the opportunity of the Terriers and the investment and faith of long term fan Hoyle into reality. Both Dean Hoyle and Nigel Clibbens share the same set of views of values on how a football club should be run and it is reported that Clibbens shares the same drive and determination of that of Hoyle. Hoyle will succeed current Chairman Ken Davy as Chairman of the club in the summer. It perhaps comes as a surprise this appointment, although there was speculation Hoyle was moving towards bringing in a Chief Executive as the Town owner has previously commented that he did not feel a football club needed to fill the role of a Chief Executive, back in September. The way this pans out off the field will be interesting for the next few months and even more so when the new CEO takes on the role full time. Clibbens sat in the Directors Box for Saturday's victory at the Galpharm Stadium. Hoyle, has once again appealed to Terriers fans to be patient over the appointment of a first team manager. There have been a number of applications many of which have been of a high calibre and Hoyle is taking his time to ensure that the appointment is the right one for the club. -

Murphy promises investment in playing roster! Gerry Muphy who will remain in temporary charge as long as is necessary as the Town board searches for a manager as promised in a bid to make at least the play offs this season despite the torrid first half of it, investment will be available in the January window with at least two players coming into the squad. Town fans will be hoping the popular Irish man will have on his shopping list a striker that can score goals and a pacey defender. Murphy has once stressed that he does not want the role full time because he believes it is suited for a younger man. Could that younger man be a certain Roy Keane who has just resigned today as manager of Sunderland. If Dean Hoyle could afford Keane, he would fit the bill of what Town are wanting. -

Injury results in Tom's return! Interim manager Gerry Murphy has recalled defender Tom Clarke from his loan spell with Bradford City following an ankle injury to Joe Skarz. Clarke has only just started his second month on loan at Valley Parade but Town included a 24 hour recall notice on the defender. - Reserves remain unbeaten The Huddersfield Town reserves had to come from 2-0 down at half time to force a draw with Scunthorpe United last night at Glanford Park. It means Graham Mitchell's second string are now 7 wins and 2 draws from their opening nine matches. Ironically the two draws have come since the departure of Mick Docherty has coach of the reserves. Lewis Nightingale scored both Town goals in a commanding second half display which saw wintry weather conditions. This latest draw comes following Town losing their 100% record as they drew 1-1 at York City early last month. Meanwhile Tom Denton (on loan at Woking) scored on his debut for the non league side at Sailsbury yesterday. Simon Eastwood was a non-playing sub in the 3-0 success. - |

Terriers saying nothing! Terriers Chairman-elect Dean Hoyle remains tight lipped over who will replace Stan Ternent as manager of Town and is refusing to answer any of the media speculation or get into any A plethora of names have been linked with the job vacated by Ternent in early November, and the only message coming out of Town is that the club will take it's time in it's search for Ternent's successor. Various sources have linked various names with the role often some of it is wild speculation. Names linked include Lee Clark, Mark Robins, Jim Gannon, John Ward former players Adie Boothroyd, Chris Hutchings, and Chris Beech are all reported to have shown an interest in the role. It would appear that rumours that Nigel Adkins was leaving Scunthorpe for the job and that the new manager was imminent appear unfounded and it is highly unlikely that the new manager will be installed into the role before Saturday's home match with Walsall. - Reserves at Glanford Park this evening The Terriers travel to Scunthorpe United for their latest totesport.com reserve league match aiming to remain unbeaten. This will be the second strings eight match of the campaign having won the opening six matches they drew last time out at York City. The Terriers will be guided off the field by Graham Mitchell, whilst Chris Lucketti will be captain in a relatively strong Town side including David Unsworth, Robbie Williams and Jon Worthington. The offence for Town this evening for the match which has a 19:00 hours kick-off weather permitting will be youthful. - |

Lee Clark to be the next Terriers boss? There are mounting rumours that former Newcastle United midfielder Lee Clark - the current number two at Norwich City is set to become the next manager of Huddersfield Town. Weekend and Monday morning reports claim that Clark has already had two interviews as Chairman-elect Dean Hoyle looks for the right man to rejuvenate the fledging Terriers following a disappointing six months spell in charge from Stan Ternent. However, sources from Norwich say their manager Glenn Roeder is incensed by this media speculation saying their is no foundations to the rumours. On the official Canaries website Roeder called the rumours "totally unfounded and untrue" and is disappointed with the media escalating such a news story, at a time when the championship club is struggling towards the wrong end of the league table and preparing for the derby match with Ipswich Town on Sunday. Clark however would seem to fit Hoyle's bill for an untried fresh faced young manager and at just 35 years old the former England Under 21 would fit that criteria. The former Newcastle United, Sunderland and Fulham tough battling midfielder saw his playing days ended by injury in the summer of 2006 and took to his first coaching position under Roeder at Newcastle United. Clark left St James Park to team up with Roeder for the second time at Carrow Road. More news on this rumour that the Wallsend midfielder could be about to move to Huddersfield Town has the new manager, as it becomes apparent. There is nothing official from the Galpharm Stadium, and Roeder has slammed the rumours as "unfounded". -
