Rumour as it ... The rumour is that the new manager to replace Stan Ternent is Scunthorpe United manager Nigel Adkins. It is understood the 43-year-old could be in place before Town's next match at home to Walsall a week tomorrow. The Birkenhead born former goalkeeper is well respected in the game and as performed well with The Iron since taking the tenure of first team activities in November 2006. It is understood that both clubs have worked out a compensation package to bring Adkins to the Galpharm Stadium with the Scunthopre United chairman failing to keep hold of his manager. One in work manager it definitely will not be is Sheffield Wednesday boss Brian Laws who has signed a contract extension with the Championship club that will see Laws direct first team proceedings at Hillsborough through to the summer of 2011. -

Bantams retain Terrier! Huddersfield Town centre half Tom Clarke has today seen his loan spell with League Two side Bradford City extended for a further month. The younger of the two Clarke brothers will now remain with City until January 3rd. Clarke has featured in six matches (four from the start) for Bradford and had high praise from the City management team and supporters. Clarke will also be allowed, if selected, to feature in the FA Cup this weekend as Bradford face Leyton Orient at Valley Parade. Town blocked him from playing in City's impressive victory at MK Dons in Round One. The Terriers have applied a 24 hour return clause in the loan extension. - Jones returns to Burnley Interim boss Gerry Murphy today allowed on loan striker Steve Jones to return to parent club Burnley. -

They have quoted Gerry Murphy saying the next time Town takes to the field (Walsall, home December 6) a new man could be in charge. Brighton in focus now After the stunning derby victory at Elland Road last Saturday afternoon it might have been easy for manager-less Huddersfield Town to let focus slip on the trip to Brighton Hove Albion in two days. But with Gerry Murphy in temporary charge that simply as not happened, with Murphy's Town side who won for the first time at Elland Road since Boxing Day 1984 awarded the "Performance of the week" by the League Managers Association. But that was one victory on a long haul to rising up the table, and Elland Road must now be forgotten as attention turns to the Withdean Stadium. However, Murphy will receive a crystal football following the LMA's decision to award the "Performance of the week" and it's presentation will be screen during Sky Sports Gillette Soccer Saturday, this Saturday. The victory over the local rivals will have given the team extra steel, determination and confidence but the players much 'kick on' now and that includes a good performance at Brighton and another three points. Town's popular Director of Football again confirmed he does not want the first team management position on a permanent basis and believes that "this great club has to move forward". The Terriers will once again be in their Centenary Gold kit at Brighton on Saturday, let's hope that it can be as successful as it was last week in the Yorkshire derby which attracted the biggest Yorkshire derby crowd of anywhere thus far this season. Another day another new name linked! Rumours regarding the Town vacant managerial position continues to hot up with Richard Money the latest to be linked. The former Walsall manager now the head of Newcastle United's Academy is said to be interested in the role at the Galpharm Stadium and was linked prior to Stan Ternent being offered the role this April. Two other names linked Steve Cotterill and Aidy Boothroyd are both said to be interested in the vacant role at Swindon Town. With Dean Hoyle in no hurry to rush into making a full time appointment and Gerry Murphy again adding discipline to the team it comes as no surprises that current Yeovil Town boss Russell Slade has squashed the press rumours linking him with a move to Yorkshire. The popular Yeovil manager has said that he has not been made aware of any interest from Huddersfield. Once again this appears to be nothing more than press talk. Another of those linked to the Terriers hot seat is current Darlington boss Dave Penney who incensed and infuriated some sections of his home support on Saturday with a substitution he made during the League Two leaders home victory over Peter Jackson's Lincoln City. A section of the Darlington Arena sparked calls for Penney to go promoting the Darlington assistant manager to say the former Doncaster Rovers manager was "very disappointed". - Cad's Delighted at Elland Road win Joining in the Terriers euphoria of beating Leeds United at Elland Road, the man who set up Michael Collins winning goal has joined his chairman-elect and interim manager in describing his delight at overcoming their Yorkshire rivals at home for the first time in 25 years. Danny Cadamateri commented "I was so pleased to help get the winning goal after some of the stick that the Leeds fans were giving me. It's a really good result for us ... Once I had passed him [Paul Telfer] I had a look up to see if anything was on and I spotted Mickey Collins making a late run, so I dinked it back to him." Cadamateri's centre was stunningly converted acrobatically by Collins in the 93rd minute to delight the 2,000 plus travelling blue army in the South and South East Stands. The supporters celebrations at the goal and at the end will have delighted the Town players who have had a difficult season thus far. Even Dean Hoyle was in with the Town fans and called beating the Whites on their own ground was "fantastic" and "amongst my best memories of being a Town fan". The Terriers need to push on from this and continue the winning celebrations at Brighton on Saturday prior to two home matches in a week. Hoyle now has the difficult task of ensuring he makes the right decision regarding the new manager, but he will not be forced into making a decision until he is sure he has the right man for the job. Meanwhile the victory on Saturday was dedicated by Gerry Murphy to the fans "I'm very pleased for them - this was a game for the fans and I think it was important that we put a good show up," he told BBC Radio Leeds after the Elland Road triumph. The caretaker boss went on to say "... this could turn the season." - |

More linked names to vacant Galpharm hotseat! Another new day and more new names being linked with the vacant management position at the Galpharm Stadium. Russell Slade the current Yeovil Town manager is the latest to be rumoured to be linked to the job. This comes 24 hours after press reports are linking Stockport County boss Jim Gannon and West Brom Assistant Academy manager Michael Appleton with the role. Rumours don't you just love them?! -

Hoyle to make the right decision for Town Supporters wishing for a early managerial appointment look set to be disappointed with Chairman-Elect Dean Hoyle willing to take time over the appointment of the new manager. The greetings card magnate is in no rush to replace Stan Ternent and will be producing no shortlist. Hoyle has commented that applications are coming through the Galpharm Stadium post box on a daily basis. He is to appoint the right man for the job and will not go down the route of a "big name" just for the sake of it. Neil 'Razor' Ruddock and Gus Poyet are the latest names to be linked with interest in becoming the next Huddersfield Town manager. Neil Adkins has told his Scunthorpe United players that it is pure speculation linking him with the vacant job at the Terriers. - Parker sees red as reserves drop points Huddersfield Town reserves travelled to York City and for the first time this season dropped points as they drew 1-1. Keigan Parker was sent off prior to half time and the home side took the lead on 51 minutes but a strong attacking line up for Town saw Danny Cadamateri bring parity to the score line with his effort on 75 minutes. The match at the Kit Kat Crescent was the first time the Town reserves had dropped any league points in their seven matches played to date, the first they had failed to score at least three goals in a match and the first without manager Mick Docherty. Graham Mitchell took leadership of the team for the match. Kiegan Parker will be available for this weekend's trip to Elland Road despite this sending off. -
South Stand for the Town fans! After the successful trial of opening up the South Stand for home fans (click here for more) the club have announced that three further home fixtures will have this stand available for Terriers. "Get behind the Team - get behind the goal" proved very successful for the Yeovil Town fixture last month which saw 600 Town fans occupy the Pink Link Stand and provided a Leeds Road Cowshed atmosphere with quite wonderful backing. Tickets are now on sale and season ticket holders can exchange the applicable voucher for a match day ticket with a £1 fee for adults and 50p for juniors. Supporters can also pay on the day subject to availability for: Adults - £20 Season ticket holders are asked to exchange their season ticket voucher before 17:00 hours the day before match day. The three matches are: Tuesday November 25, 19:45 Saturday December 06, 15:00 Saturday December 20, 15:00 Again Town's Director of Business Development Sean Jarvis is urging as many supporters as possible to get behind the team behind the goal for these three fixtures by explaining "it really makes a difference to the atmosphere in the group and could help the team surge up the League One table". Rumour mill working overtime Speculation is rife over who is to succeed Stan Ternent has manager of Huddersfield Town. We know chairman-elect Dean Hoyle wants "'a young, enthusiastic manager who has got the fire in their belly to match the ambitions of this club" but who that will be no one is any further forward. Interim manager Gerry Murphy explained to the official website he does not want it, takes charge of this afternoon's FA Cup fixture with Andy Holdsworth has his captain with Jon Worthington (suspension), Keigan Parker (suspension), Liam Dickinson (ineligible) and Steve Jones (ineligible), Andy Booth and Michael Flynn (injured) all missing. Murphy can name seven substitutes for the match this afternoon although only three can be used. Town fans seem to favour Yorkshire born Aidy Boothroyd, but also strongly linked to be on Hoyle's wanted list are Dave Penny, Nigel Adkins, Mark Robins and Peterborough United boss Darren Ferguson. Michael Flynn has come out this week in support of Ternent believing that he was not given enough time and should have stayed, so it will be interesting to see the number of players Ternent brought in how many of them will actually remain under the new regime. One thing is for sure, Dean Hoyle will not be pressurised into making a quick or rash decision and he will make a full and considered decision on who will become the new manager of Huddersfield Town. Hoyle has also dismissed media reports that he has approach Boothroyd concerning the vacant manager position at the Galpharm Stadium. One thing is for sure Dean Hoyle loves Huddersfield Town AFC as much as any other support does, and Town fans young and old need to have faith in Hoyle making the right decision in the interests of Town. This will be his decision, and it is his money and his business acumen that will take the club forward. Have faith in the club and keep "All Together Now". - South Stand for the Town fans! After the successful trial of opening up the South Stand for home fans (click here for more) the club have announced that three further home fixtures will have this stand available for Terriers. Aidy Boothroyd front runner! The bookmakers have installed Aidy Boothroyd as the leading out of work manager to become the 4th Huddersfield Town manager inside 20 months. Boothroyd left Watford by mutual consent on Monday following a fall from grace leaving the Hornets in 21st place in the Championship table. Watford missed out in the play-offs last season and Boothroyd enjoyed a season with the club in the Premier League. The 37-year-old Bradford born former Terriers player left having managed Watford for 3 and a half years. Boothroyd was highly praised by Watford chairman Graham Simpson who said of his tenure "he's done a fabulous job." Other managers being linked are Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins and Darlington's Dave Penny. Keep up to date with the new management team developments on this website. - Physio shown the door! First team physiotherapist Ian Liversedge has become the latest member of the Huddersfield Town staff to leave. Liversedge who was only brought into Town in the middle of June leaves following the mutual departure of Stan Ternent as first team manager. Academy physio Dave Buckby will step up to the first team until a new management team is announced. - Stan Ternent leaves Huddersfield Town Inside six months the management team unveiled in April to replace Andy Ritchie and to take Town forward in the Centenary season as come crashing down. Stan Ternent and his coaching staff of Ronnie Jepson and Mick Docherty all yesterday left the Galpharm Stadium. The stunned news came on the backdrop of a series of disappointing displays and many supporters publicly showing their disappointment in the performance of the team. Ternent and his team leave mutually having won just four of 15 matches despite him bringing in 11 new players during the summer. Chairman-Elect Dean Hoyle had a discussion yesterday with Ternent where the board and first team management clearly had a different opinion in how to take forward Huddersfield Town. It was then that the decision was taken to let Ternent go who can now enjoy his Christmas dinner at home like he told the BBC only last week. Hoyle has called the move yesterday "the best thing for the club" and that is all you can ask from the board to do what is the right thing for the football club. Vice chairman Andrew Watson has also decided to quit the club he was an integral part in appointing Stan Ternent has manager. Gerry Murphy will take temporary charge for the third time of the team starting with the FA Cup match on Saturday as the Terriers begin the search for their 4th manager in 20 months. Hoyle is confident that he can attract the right manager to Huddersfield Town. Hoyle is looking to move away from the Ternent style of manager by considering "'a young, enthusiastic manager who has got the fire in their belly to match the ambitions of this club". It will be Hoyle's choice on who replaces Ternent who managed the Terriers for just 195 days and featured in just 18 competitive matches. Hoyle is looking again for a manager who he can build for the future with and will make money available for the new manager. Whoever Town appoint, it must be one for now and the future to safeguard the on and off field interests of the club. A decent all round package in both terms of coaching and management is just what Hoyle needs to supply the long suffering Town fans. Hoyle needs to deliever a managerial appointment that will kick start this season and bring the fans back on side with the club. Hoyle perhaps needs to rebuild a part of his Huddersfield Town a bit sooner than he would have liked, but he has taken the prudent decision to rebuild sooner rather than wait too long. Hoyle will take as long as he needs to ensure that he makes absolutely the right decision for Huddersfield Town to enable the club to progress for the remainder of this season and beyond. These continue to be changing times, and although we asked supporters through this website to back Stan we believe that this was the right thing to say and do considering he was the manager of Huddersfield Town. We believe it is essential that all those supporting the famous blue and white stripes get behind the manager, but sadly with Ternent he lost many supporters and only he may know why it went so terribly terribly wrong so quickly. This is a disappointing day in the history of the club and the hard work now starts to find a new manager to take Town forward and save this season. Best wishes to Stan, Ronnie and Mick for their future. - Academy in FA Cup action The Academy make the short journey to Rochdale this evening for an FA Cup tie. Kick off is at 19:00 and costs just £3 for adults and £1 for concessions. - |

Ternent calls fans "fantastic" In his post match interview with the official website Stan Ternent as called the Town fans "fantastic" after an uncomfortable which saw Crewe fight-back from two goals down. A later Keigan Parker goal gave Town a deserved victory which "delighted" Ternent, but he was controversially shown a late second card. Ternent must have not heard the Antich singing section chants for his departure following Crewe's equalising goal on 59 minutes or the jibes of "It's time to go" which rang out from the singing section within the lower tier of the Riverside Stand, following Parker grabbing what proved to be the winning goal. Sadly the chants for Ternent's departure were not the isolated few, and it was very poor to have to listen to. Although Town laboured to a victory after again starting creating a number of chances, but as the game wore on the visitors again pushed on against Town with Crewe looking at times, dangerous on the break. The manager was right to be disappointed with the second goal for Crewe which was clearly offside, but the referee's assistant failed to lift his flag promptly hostile reactions from the Town faithful in the Riverside Stand, before getting jeered as the fool fell over. Once again the officials at an Huddersfield Town match have been poor with both linesman making strange decisions and Drysdale the referee would be better getting his eyes tested than officiate another football league match for a very long time, as he was simply shocking. There might not have been the electric atmosphere in the stadium this afternoon created by the 600 who stand in the South Stand on Tuesday night, but again the fans began with great backing for the players. But on yet another difficult and frustrating afternoon the fans again seemed to turn on the manager and some players, and their were boo's as Jim Goodwin came on as a 77 minute substitution which really is not on. The players need the backing of the supporters, valid the players need to give something for the supporters to get behind, but without the life-blood of Huddersfield Town, the club is simply nothing. The players need confidence and that will build with victories on the pitch, but having the support of the Town fans rather than having to here frustration vented or negative songs and chants, just will not help. The club off the field is trying, although I did not think the "I can't help falling in love" scarf waving worked at all this afternoon, but it is something else that as been tried, and full credit to people like Dean Hoyle and Sean Jarvis for continuing to come up with ideas backed by the impressive Supporters Association. So get behind the Terriers, leave the "Ternent out" chants at home and keep the faith and be "All Together Now". - League attendance's break 100,000 mark! The 11,679 that turned up for this afternoon's home match against Crewe Alexandra helped to break the 100,000 mark for home league attendance's this season. The total sits at 106,942 from the eight home matches played with an average of 13,368. That however is below the number of season ticket sold, as Town report the actual match attendance rather than the tickets sold for the match. The biggest league attendance remains 16,212 for the match with Leicester City in early October whilst the lowest gate this season is 10,719 - against Yeovil Town on Tuesday evening (October 28). - First win in six fails to release pressure on under-fire Ternent! Match Result | Huddersfield Town 3-2 Crewe Alexandra | League One | Galpharm Stadium | 01/11/2008 Match Details Huddersfield Town Subs Not Used: Skarz, Lucketti. Goals: Butler (20), Craney (39), Parker (88) Crewe Alexandra Subs Not Used: Abbey, Woodards, Carrington. Goals: Donaldson (41), Donaldson (59) Attendance Referee Mr D Drysdale (Lincolnshire) - Smithies in England squad Alex Smithes has this morning been called up to the England squad for the forthcoming friendly match with Germany at Colchester United's new stadium. If selected it will be Smithes first cap for England at this level. - 'Grace-Pharm' this Saturday - bring your scarf! This Saturday at the Crewe match at the Galpharm Stadium, the Terriers are going to turn pre-match into Graceland, as the players will be entering the field of play to the Elvis classic "I can't help falling in love" - a song, used often by Town fans as a chant. To help with what the club is trying to do fans are urged to bring their scarf with them on Saturday and hold them aloft as the song is played and the players enter the lush playing surface. Sean Jarvis told the official Huddersfield website that the club is "trying something different". Town will be "firing" in some free scarves into the crowd during the pre-match build up and half time so you might be lucky and win a scarf. "I can't help falling in love" is from the 1961 film starring Elvis 'Blue Hawaii' and is based upon 'Plaisir d'amour'. British pop group UB40 covered the Elvis classic ballad in 1993 as well as a host of other artists including Bob Dylan and Shirley Bassey. The original Elvis version went double Platinum in the UK. Lyrics Wise men say only fools rush in Shall I stay, would it be a sin Like a river flows Take my hand, take my whole life too Like a river flows Take my hand, take my whole life too YouTube - Elvis singing live in concert Click here for a YouTube video of the song. For Town songs click here - including the opportunity to listen to a Midi version of "I can't help falling in love".
