Stan on FA Charge At the moment it doesn't seem to rain but pour for Huddersfield Town manager Stan Ternent. After press rumours that his job at the Galpharm is under threat after a series of disappointing results and performances, Ternent has now been charged by the ruling bodies and given an "improper conduct" charge. It comes following the manager's post match interview comments relating to the referee following Town's lucky 3-2 loss against Leicester City earlier this month. Town had battled back from 2-0 to level but the Foxes grabbed a dramatic late winner, and Ternent has until November 7th to respond. - |

'Grace-Pharm' this Saturday - bring your scarf! This Saturday at the Crewe match at the Galpharm Stadium, the Terriers are going to turn pre-match into Graceland, as the players will be entering the field of play to the Elvis classic "I can't help falling in love" - a song, used often by Town fans as a chant. To help with what the club is trying to do fans are urged to bring their scarf with them on Saturday and hold them aloft as the song is played and the players enter the lush playing surface. Sean Jarvis told the official Huddersfield website that the club is "trying something different". Town will be "firing" in some free scarves into the crowd during the pre-match build up and half time so you might be lucky and win a scarf. "I can't help falling in love" is from the 1961 film starring Elvis 'Blue Hawaii' and is based upon 'Plaisir d'amour'. British pop group UB40 covered the Elvis classic ballad in 1993 as well as a host of other artists including Bob Dylan and Shirley Bassey. The original Elvis version went double Platinum in the UK. Lyrics Wise men say only fools rush in Shall I stay, would it be a sin Like a river flows Take my hand, take my whole life too Like a river flows Take my hand, take my whole life too YouTube - Elvis singing live in concert Click here for a YouTube video of the song. For Town songs click here - including the opportunity to listen to a Midi version of "I can't help falling in love". - The reserves continue to impress The Terriers reserves have this afternoon maintained their 100% record in the totesport.com League East with a relatively easy victory over local rivals Bradford City at Emley. A Luke Beckett hat trick (9, 20, 47) recorded a good victory for a strong Town side featuring Malvin Kamara who returned from his loan spell with Grimsby Town at the weekend. Kyle Nix (77) pulled a late one back for a relatively young City side, but Town held out for a convincing victory, to mark a remarkable six wins from their opening six matches. If only the first team could apply the same winning mentality. - Terriers frustrated in goal less draw Match Result | Huddersfield Town 0-0 Yeovil Town | League One | Galpharm Stadium | 28/10/2008 Match Details Huddersfield Town Subs Not Used: Skarz, Collins, Jevons. Legends on thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk - 'a fusion of the past, present and future' Click here to find out who our latest and the sixteenth Legend is and to read his comments about the club. - Dicko extends his stay On loan striker Liam Dickinson will remain with Town a further month returning to parent club Derby County after the November 15th fixture at Elland Road. It is the third and final month of the loan deal which has seen the former Stockport hitman score six goals in 10 matches. As with the first extension, Derby have a 24 hour recall clause in the deal. Dickinson scored twice last night as the Terriers lost 5-3 at Hartlepool United. - thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk comments on ... Stan's comments post Hartlepool! After Town's amazing late defeat last night at Hartlepool where the home side scored three times in the last seven minutes to secure a 5-3 victory, Stan Ternent's comments on the official website ring very disappointingly in every supporters ears having seen the direct criticism of him towards our football club. The comments below to HTAFC.com were made as part of his thoughts immediately following the defeat in a match Town really needed to get something out of: " … … … but there were a lot of what I call criminal things that players shouldn’t do – but we do. WE HAVE TO CHANGE THAT CULTURE AT THE CLUB, BECAUSE IT’S WHY THE CLUB HAS BEEN WHERE IT IS FOR SO LONG NOW, FINISHING MID-TABLE" (the capitals are the author of this article for thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk). He might have been fuming with his players for "school boy errors" and the way they have been taught their football (a indirect knock at the Town Academy system?) but he also had critical things to say about the referee who gave a controversial penalty to Hartlepool that brought them level at 3-3, after Town had three times been in the lead. Of the team that kicked off last night three, Nathan Clarke, Joe Skarz and skipper Jon Worthington were youth products; the goalkeeper was given a new contract by Mr Ternent at the start of this season, leaving 7 of the line-up the Managers signings. I do not have the experience or knowledge of our Manager but I find understanding this comment very difficult indeed and would welcome an explanation from our man in the hot seat. If my readings of his comments are correct this would seem to be the root cause of all our problems at Huddersfield Town and if that is so then we have serious worries for I do not believe our beloved club has just such an inbred problem. We were where we were, because we were not good enough to play at a higher level for which Mr Ternent was brought in to change. In doing so our Club, the culture of which he his so critical, gave him the backing to go out and sign new players, in fact a whole new team 11 of them. The financial support to enable him to attract the type of player he wanted and allowed him to bring in an entire backroom staff of his choosing. Personally he was given the quality and safety of a three-year deal and the backing of both Chairman and Chairman-elect. If there is much more Huddersfield Town could have done in support of their new Manager I would find it hard to find. Indeed off the field the Board and Staff have worked overtime in their efforts to bring success to the Galpharm including several innovative and eye catching ideas which helped attract 16,123 season ticket holders for our Centenary Season. From the start there was an air of anticipation of expectation and perhaps we all are guilty of expecting too much too soon but if you do not have hope at the start of a new season then you have very little. Is it too late to reproduce the pre-season optimism or already have too many words been said with very little action to prove their point? I hope we can take a step back to go the vital steps forward we all grave and to help us on this path let us remember the battle cry in August. ‘ALLTOGETHER NOW’. We need to remember the spirit we had before kick off this season and our message to Back Stan is still the same, as he is manager of Huddersfield Town. But comments like this need to be said privately to the players he is aiming them at and get the team playing like they can do. AND Stan your public comments post Hartlepool stink and are in our eyes disgusting! These are your players, your team, your shape, balance and system. You are paid to get it right on the field - so do it! - |

"Smile A While" The Antich Singing section is desperately attempting to get this rousing old Town anthem back at Town matches, and often now it can be heard sang so passionately by a fair few supporters ... but they need all Town fans to back them and sing along. At the moment Town are struggling at home and we as supporters need to do all we can to improve ... so learn the tune and the words to the passionate Smile A While anthem and give it a sing at the next home match. Lyrics (only the chorus will be sung so only displayed here): "All the while upon the field of play, Thousands gladly cheered them on their way, Often you could hear them say, Who can beat the Town today? Then the bells shall ring so merrily, Every goal shall be a memory, So Town play up and bring the cup, Back to Huddersfield." Bore draw as bright start fizzles out again! Match Result | Huddersfield Town 1-1 Bristol Rovers | League One | Galpharm Stadium | 18/10/2008 Michael Flynn's fifth goal of the season on seven minutes proved to offer Town fans false hope after a dismal performance led to the players leaving the field to a chorus of boo's. After a bright opening start Town took the lead when Flynn drove the ball home form just outside the edge of the area. But after a bright 20 minutes, Town badly faded and the seventh minute strike proved to be Town's only shot on target in a largely disappointing encounter which had manager Stan Ternent fuming on the touchline. Town lacked composure, attitude, stamina in attack and the defence at times looked fragile against a well organised and disciplined Bristol Rovers side who had numerous chances to equalise prior to the half time break. The impressive Ricky Lambert did not take long to delight the 300 travelling Gashead's in the second half. Just eight minutes after the restart Rovers were level a soft goal down Town's left to concede. Perhaps for many Town fans in and around the 'singing section' of the Antich Stand, the best excitement of the second half was entertainment from provided by the fans themselves. Yes they kept trying to back the players, but the performance on the pitch was far below a standard justified. Stan Ternent said on Friday that his Town side can beat anyone in this division, well on this performance it was sadly lacking. The best entertainment was Town fans 'playing' with a rather large inflatable football, or the amusement at the match sponsors choice of Jim Goodwin - who to be frank was quite shocking, even the Town right-back hid his head in shame as he heard the match announcer name him the man of the match. Poor from Town and a very frustrating and wet afternoon and they drop a place in the league standings to 16th. Match Details Huddersfield Town Subs Not Used: Holdsworth, Lucketti. Goals: Flynn (7) Bristol Rovers Subs Not Used: Mike Green, Hunt, Klein-Davies Goals: Lambert (53) Attendance Referee Mr M Oliver (Northumberland) -

Emergency loan deal! In the current economic climate there seems to be a plethora of emergency loan deals for the nations big banks, but Town have conducted their own emergency loan deal with the capture of Burnley striker Steve Jones on a month's loan. The Northern Ireland international (31) has been brought in by Stan Ternent due to injuries to Phil Jevons, Danny Cadamateri and the long term back problem for Andy Booth, which will see the legend out until the new year at the earliest. The striker as 21 caps for his country scoring once. He is regarded as a big, powerful and gritty forward, but may have to settle for a place on the bench has he has not featured at all this season for his Championship home club. Jones goes straight into the manager's thinking for tomorrow's visit of Bristol Rovers and runs until November 25. For further details on the career of the Londonderry born striker click here. - Match day experience improved Without a doubt recent performances have shown a marked improvement on the field, but Town are further enhancing their off the field experience for supporters, something which began with the introduction of chairman-elect Dean Hoyle. From tomorrow Town will be selling bottled beer and glasses of wine in the concourses at the Galpharm Stadium. Glasses of wine will be available from all parts of the ground for £3.00 (red or white), whilst the Fantastic Media Upper Tier will trial for the next three home matches the sale of bottled beer - Carlsberg. In addition the club is backing the "One game, One Community" initiative launched by Kick It Out to promote and intensify football's message of equality, inclusion and diversity. Town's event will take place at tomorrow's home game with Bristol Rovers. - Doc's the man with the reserves! The Town second string continue to impress in the totesports.com league with a fifth win from their opening five matches. The latest victory was attained at Barnsley by 3-2. The match played at The Tykes Academy complex saw the Terriers march into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Daniel Broadbent (17), Jack Hunt (63) and David Heagney (65). However, Town had to survive a sterling late fight-back from Barnsley who grabbed two goals making it a tricky end for Mick Docherty's reserves. - |

No extra time this evening! Should tonight's JPT Northern Second Round match at Darlington not be decided at the end of 90 minutes the match will be settled on penalties. There will be no extra time. In order to maintain the feasibility of the Members Cup, the Football League have said that clubs must ensure that six of the starting 11 players have started the majority of league matches, something the Darlington boss as already moaned about. Former Town striker Pawel Abbott will not feature this evening for the Quakers, as he is injured, but the Town players will not take the match lightly as they hope to dispose of Darlington who are expecting a small attendance in their 25,000 all seater arena on the outskirts of the North Eastern town. But with the destination for the final Wembley Stadium, no players from the lower division will take this lightly, as the Terriers look to improve on recent seasons in a competition they achieved runners-up spot in 1993/1994. Town's last success in this competition was a first round 3-0 victory over Morecambe on home soil in September 2004. Both Darlington and Huddersfield received a bye through to round two. Foxes edge Town in classic Match Result | Huddersfield Town 2-3 Leicester City | League One | The Galpharm Stadium | 04/10/2008 League leaders Leicester City came out the strongest in a five goal thriller with a late winner after Town had fought back from 2-0 down. The late Dyer winner for the visitors was harsh on Town who had the better of a pulsating first half. The referee awarded a free kick that never was and a fluke goal followed. A brace from Matty Fryatt had given City a 2-0 lead, the second a harsh penalty decision on Town's right back Jim Goodwin. Town boss Stan Ternent was rightfully aggrieved with the referee for the award of the penalty kick. Goals from Gary Roberts and Liam Dickinson brought the Terriers level. But Town hearts were broken as City maintained their leadership position with a late winner. The Town fans were terrific for the entire match, with great support travelling with Leicester City. Match Details Huddersfield Town Subs Not Used: Holdsworth, Williams, Lucketti. Goals: Roberts (69), Dickinson (77) Leicester City Subs Not Used: Henderson, Kishishev, Berner.
