Malvin goes out on loan Winger Malvin Kamara has joined League Two side Grimsby Town on a month's loan this evening and is set to make his debut Saturday against Barnet. The former Port Vale player has struggled to feature for the Terriers this season having been included in the playing squad just twice. Kamara was a 88th minute substitute in the Carling Cup match at home to Sheffield United and featured as a 82nd minute sub in the same competition as Town defeated Bradford City 4-0 in the first round. Signed by former manager Andy Ritchie in June 2007 he has made just 33 league starts for the Terriers scoring 3 times (a further 10 as sub) but has never really featured highly in the opinion of some quarters of the Town faithful. Town are preventing the 24 year old Sierra Leone player from featuring for the Mariners in the Members Cup. Kamara could possibly not be the last player to leave Town on loan. Luke Beckett is still wanted by York City and his omission with Phil Jevons from the squad to face Hartlepool reserves this evening could pinpoint their movement out of the Galpharm Stadium. Jevons had scored a brace in both the reserves opening two matches (against Leeds and Scunthorpe) so his omission, if not due to injury is surprising. The reserves league newly renamed totesport.com league is free admission for season ticket holders who show their booklet. If you are not a season ticket holder prices are £3.50 for adults and free for concessions. The match is at the Galpharm Stadium with a 19:00 kick-off. - totesport.com sponsors League! Bookmaker totesport have become the new sponsors of The Central League, the league the Huddersfield Town reserves feature in. They will also sponsor the Combination reserves league which will now become totesports.com Combination. The reserves cup that Town are not taking part in this season will become totesportcasino.com cup. Neil Baker, Head of Marketing for totesport.com "This sponsorship offers a great opportunity for our online betting and gaming brands to reach a huge number of football fans across the country and reinforces our growing reputation for offering a full betting service on a wide range of sports. Ernest Barron, Central League President "We are absolutely delighted to be welcoming totesport on board as our new title sponsors and look forward to forging a strong partnership with them over the coming season. -

Dickinson remains a Terrier for at least a further month On loan Derby County striker Liam Dickinson is staying with Town for a further month having scored twice in five appearances following his move to the Galpharm Stadium. The 22 year old striker who was a summer capture for Paul Jewell remains in the Rams manager's plans, but the Championship side have sanctioned a further month's loan deal with a 24 hour call back clause. Dickinson has said that he is enjoying his time with the Terriers and had a hand in two of the three goals that gave Town a first home victory of the season on Saturday. He will remain with Town until October 21 with Stan Ternent calling the former Stockport County striker "A real asset". But with Dickinson well down the pecking order at Pride Park some of the Derby supporters may have been surprised to see Dickinson remain at the Terriers given their host of strikers have struggled for goals so far this season. However Jewell told local press in Derby that "He (Dickinson) is still very much in our plans but I have a lot of options up front at the moment, so I think it serves everyone's best interests for him to be playing regularly on loan". -

First home win for Town after Northampton scare! Match Result | Huddersfield Town 3-2 Northampton Town | League One | Galpharm Stadium | 13/09/2008 Stan Ternent finally appeased disappointed home supporters as his Town side recorded their first home win of the season. Following a draw and two defeats Town finally tasted home success following a tough encounter with fellow strugglers Northampton Town. The Terriers started the brighter and could have been in front on a number of occasions as the Town support generally gave their full and vocal backing to the players. But despite Town having a number of good chances it was the visitors who forced Town 'keeper Matthew Glennon into a fine save and Ian Craney clearing from the line. It was the visitors who broke the deadline despite Town having the better of possession and attacking play. A smart move from the Cobblers was finished off with by Luke Guttridge with a sweet finish which cannoned in off Jim Goodwin. The goal as been credited to the unlikely Town player. But within nine minutes Town were deservedly level and the slight discontent mounting within some home sections was silenced. Returning from injury to captain the side Andy Booth levelled. A decent Town move brought panic in the visitors defence and Craney's shot was only parried to Booth who made no mistake from only a couple of yards out. Town continued throughout the remaining of the first half but the aerial ball to Booth and Liam Dickinson was proving to be ineffective against a well marshalled Northampton centre back pairing. Town however could have taken the lead moments before the break when Michael Flynn put Dickinson through, but the on loan striker was well tackled before he could cleanly get his shot wide. Both Flynn and Craney throughout the first half looked composed and both had long range shots, as Town looked to entertain the home support with goals. The Terriers almost went into an early second half lead when Cobblers defender Mark Hughes almost scored an own goal from Gary Roberts centre. Moments later Town appealed for a penalty but referee Colin Webster gave nothing. With Andy Butler back in the centre of defence, Nathan Clarke looking much more improved than in the previous weeks and Joe Skarz performing well at left back, the Town defence easily dealt with anything the visitors could muster in attack. It was Skarz who combined with Booth to set up Flynn whose shot went over the bar, as Town looked to gain the lead. The lead for the Terriers was eventually achieved in the 64th minute when midfielder Michael Flynn scored. A quick move by Town involving Jon Worthington and Dickinson fed into Flynn's feet who saw his well placed and timed shot nestle into the corner much to the delight of the Town fans who he charged over to celebrate with. There was further joy for the home side who went two goals to the good as it was Town who looked like the only winners of the match. A long range shot from Michael Flynn looked to have been covered by Northampton 'keeper Chris Dunn but he allowed the ball to squirm under his body and into the back of the net. Credit to Northampton, despite at times looking like they had gone, they attempted to get back into the game one which they were clearly second best in and had a couple of half chances which Glennon dealt easily with. However Huddersfield Town do not make things easy and this game proved that sentiment totally. With literally minutes of the match to go Northampton was given an unlikely lifeline from Liam Davis. A clever cross had the Town defence beaten and Davis lost his marker Jim Goodwin who clearly had failed to notice the Northampton player, and Davis made no mistake in scoring Northampton's second to set up a grandstand finish. But with nerves increasing on the pitch, as they did after Northampton's opening goal, and in the stands, it was Town who managed to hold on for the much needed victory. After their first on home soil this season, now there is hope that they can go to league leaders Oldham Athletic and end their 100% winning home run. This positive result lifts Town well out of the relegation zone put eight places to 15th. Match Details Huddersfield Town Subs Not Used: Holdsworth, Kamara, Beckett, Unsworth. Goals: Booth (34), Flynn (64) & (78) Northampton Town Subs Not Used: Fielding, Henderson. Goals: Goodwin [og] (25), Davis (90) Attendance Referee Mr C Webster (Tyne & Wear) - Town fans WHAT IS GOING ON?! This afternoon's opponents Northampton Town who like the Terriers are in relegation zone but are travelling north with hopes of becoming the third team already this season to defeat Town at the Galpharm Stadium. But the visiting manager this afternoon Stuart Gray believes that all he needs to do is turn Huddersfield fans against their own team and that will be enough for Northampton to take all three points. Opponents coming to Town with confidence of a win is bad enough, but what is even worse and perhaps a disgrace to the club and it's supporters that some of the Town support are creating waves within the football world that is been noted. Those waves of negativity and aggression towards their own players and their own club is simply not good enough. This site said in pre-season when the hype and expectation was full flow for a promotion season, Stan Ternent would require your patience and support. Nothing as changed. Stop with the negativity in national eyes and on national open Internet forums and show a united "All Together Now" approach. Remember that you, the supporter are a key component to the success and failure of our famous club, and we must all unite and back the Terriers. Fortress Galpharm - at the moment it is more like a fortress against our own players and this Town fans is embarrassing. Seeing supporters leave before half time and listening to supporters vociferous and often misguided attacks on the club is not good enough and perhaps those that do knock the club openly should stay away. Yes, you have paid your money but so have the rest and the majority want to enjoy the match and back the Terriers ... and with the attitude of some, that is simply not happening. Whatever the result, whatever happens ... Huddersfield Town is Huddersfield Town ... win, lose or draw supporters need to back Town 100%. Those supporters who have negative appraisals of the club so far, will be those that when the victories begin to flow will quickly become 'over the top' positive. Management, players, officials and employees of Huddersfield Town will come and go ... but one thing that remains static is the love, passion and support the supporters have, remember that and back the Terriers! Any rebirth is difficult, and with a new major shareholder, new off the field activities, new hopes and high expectations of supporters, a bigger supporter base and a major influx of new players make it even more difficult - but that is why the supporters need to keep the faith, keep believing and believe in Stan Ternent. Chairman Elect Dean Hoyle does, and his backing is not only in support but also in financial terms too. Town fans need to appreciate with open arms what Dean Hoyle has done and is doing for Huddersfield Town AFC and at the moment Hoyle to some seems the only bright spark in what as been a difficult start to the 2008/2009 season. But Ternent is not happy with the way things have panned our thus far and he too like supporters, is not happy with the results or the performances. But things will rectify themselves and the results will start coming. One thing is for sure, thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk will remain open and honest in our assessments of the going-on's at the club and the performances, but we will not be excessively critical, offensive or 'over the top' negative. We will continue to support the club 110% because as true supporters that is what support is about - through good times and bad times. We ask ALL Town fans or those people that label themselves "fans of Huddersfield Town" to be just as positive. Our history is great and our great tradition admirable, but what we all need to look towards is the future and hope the once Champions of England - "the team to beat" gets back to the higher echelons of English football, but at the moment we are in the third tier and fans must remember that! - Reserves maintain 100% record! After defeating Leeds United 3-2 (away) in their first Central League test, Mick Docherty's side have followed that up with their second victory and the first on home soil. Yet another brace from Phil Jevons (both coming in the first 10 minutes) and a wonderful third from Daniel Broadbent (made by a super through ball by James Berrett) continued the second-string's 100% start to their Central League campaign. - |
