How do the Terriers compare with their rivals in our online betting and gaming partners sportsbook to win the league outright next season? - Parker intends to make an impact New striker Keigan Parker who on Tuesday became Stan Ternent's first signing is to repay the faith paid in him by Ternent pledging to make an impact next season and push Town towards the championship. The striker has said he turned down a number of other opportunities to grasp the Galpharm Stadium chance due to potential at the club, the impressive season ticket sales and the way the manager sold the club to him. Great start from Stan this signing and the way he is already selling Town to players. Championship sides Preston, Swansea and numerous League One clubs wanted to sign Parker, but the former Scotland under 21 player opted for Town and will answer the "make an impact" challenge given to him by his new manager when the season begins on August 9th. - |

Parker pens Terriers deal Former Scotland Under 21 striker Keigan Parker has agreed to join Huddersfield Town on a two-year deal (subject to a medical) following the expiration of his contract with Blackpool. The striker will add to Stan Ternent's offensive options next season and add spice and pace to the attack. Parker who was tracked by a number of Championship clubs turned them down and a return to his native Scotland as the former St Johnstone striker opted for the Terriers. His last Blackpool goal came against Yeovil Town at Wembley in 2005 which helped take Blackpool up into the Championship - that was sensational and Town fans will hope that they get to see this from the new striker, who could take Chris Brandon's vacated number 7 shirt. Ternent said that this deal was going on go a while but is delighted to make Parker his first signing as Town boss with the very promise of more. If rumours are to be trusted Town could add a further three new faces to the squad by the end of the week. The 25 year old wore the number 7 shirt at Bloomfield Road last season, but failed to score in any matches last season but featured for the Tangerines in their 1-0 home victory over Town in the League Cup. However a change of club should help put his career back on track because on his day he is very good. Although not a proven goalscorer he is more than capable at this level and perhaps one to help Town to promotion and comes with a reasonable if unpredictable reputation. This could now end any Town involvement in bringing in Liam Dickinson from Stockport County, but since Parker is a free transfer anything is possible. Parker's career stats can be found at this link - 11th hour to get your cut-price season ticket! Town fans who did not take up the Centenary offer for cut price season ticket offer which expired on May 23rd have been given a lifeline by Chairman-Elect Dean Hoyle. As part of this extension there will be a first for Town as local TV will screen a 10 second Huddersfield Town ad. From June 2nd for a further five days, the cut price offer will be reinstated giving fans further opportunity to join the 15,430 season ticket holders as Dean Hoyle delighted with the current take up targets the 16,000 barrier. However when 17:00 hours on Friday June 6 2008 comes that is it, the deal is no more. With more parts of the ground open (The Fantastic Media Lower Stand) with the cheaper of the tickets (£100) the Terriers board hope more supporters will join the celebration of the 2008/2009 and help pack out the Galpharm Stadium. 16,000 would be a magnificent achievement and would account for 65% of the Stadium's 24,554 capacity. Taking out the 4,054 away supporters seats (giving a home capacity of 20,500) would give an impressive 78% seat take up by season ticket holders. Or the dream of 18,000 season ticket holders, could Town do that - the answer is potentially yes although a couple of excellent signings in the next 10 days would help to rally that amount on. For more and for prices click here. The Centenary deal will recommence on Monday June 02, 2008 and will finish five days later at 17:00 Friday June 06, 2008 with no additional extensions after this time. League One welcomes Stockport Stockport County have been confirmed this afternoon as the fourth promoted side to join League One season from League Two becoming the 24th and final side to take part in the division next season. The victory will see Town fans return to the Railway End at Stockport's Edgeley Park home for the first time since the 3-1 FA Cup defeat in November 2004. It is a return to the third flight of English football for the Cheshire side which was relegated at the foot of the division in 2005, that season Town opened up with a 3-2 victory at Stockport what are the chances of that being repeated next season? - 2007/2008 Season Statistics - updated! Pre-season tournament in North East The Terriers are to travel a relatively short distance to one of new coach Mick Docherty's former sides Hartlepool United to take part in a weekend tournament including a foreign side. The tournament will take place during the weekend of July 26 and 27 and marks Hartlepool United's own centenary celebrations. Both Town and Hartlepool will be in the same league next season and this visit to Victoria Park will be the first the two sides have contested as a friendly. Town will play two matches during this tournament taking the number of pre-season matches to five. This marks yet more testing matches in a very stretching pre-season schedule. With five matches now announced none are 'give away' matches to non-league opposition. However a number of games will have to be arranged for the reserves etc including the annual match with AFC Emley at the Welfare Ground. More news to follow on this. Once we have confirmed dates and opponents we will update our main 2008/2009 Pre-Season schedule page, which can be viewed below: For the other pre-season matches click here.- Duo feature in Irish under 21's victory Up and coming midfield star James Berrett won his first Republic of Ireland Under 21 cap as the Irish won comfortably in Malaysia, as part of the Intercontinental Cup competition. Fellow Town midfielder Michael Collins also played, like Berrett, the full 90 minutes scoring twice in a 3-1 victory in which the Terriers pair featured at the heart of midfield. Collins who scored four for Town last season, including the goal at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup 5th round match, almost grabbed an hat-trick with a stunning display for Don Given's young Irish side. Iraq and Nigeria are next on the agenda for the Republic side who played well in humid conditions, thanks largely to the first half Collins brace. - Season tickets top 12,000 With just a week left of the centenary Season Ticket deal Town have now sold around 12,000 season tickets with a number of last season's ticket holders still to renew. With prices starting from just £100 for an adult Season Ticket for the full season of 23 home matches, the 2008/2009 deal represents excellent value for money. Some supporters could be waiting for the club to announce a signing, which would be nice to give the current transfer apathy a lift. There are a number of rumours flying around, and the hope is that new signings (be that permanent or loan) will gather pace following the Coca-Cola Football League play-off's. If you have not got yours or still to renew get down to the ticket office soon and ensure your support is given next season. For more and for prices click here. Championship side Sheffield United travels the short distance to play Town on August 2nd at the Galpharm Stadium with a 12:00 noon kick-off. Further details to be released as to the admission prices for the visit of former Town goalkeeper and coach Kevin Blackwell's Blades, who narrowly missed out on the Championship play-off's this season. It will be a massive test for Town, who will then play their final pre-season contest against Arsenal the following Wednesday. Academy product James Berrett has signed a new deal to keep him at the Galpharm until the summer of 2010. The 19 year old midfielder who has excelled with a number of mature performances this season grabbed thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk young player of the season website award. He is the third and final of those to be offered a new deal to sign and will give Stan Ternent excellent options in a midfield dominated by former academy players. Ternent wanted to keep the player who plays internationally for Republic of Ireland and in the same Under 21 side as fellow Terriers midfielder Michael Collins and says he is "really pleased" to have got the contract sorted out. Lets hope for an excellent season from James, next season. - Blue N White Fanzine - issue 1! There's a new unofficial Huddersfield Town fanzine on the market called Blue N White. A former side for both of the Terriers new management team, with Stan Ternent achieving two promotions for the Lancashire side. More news on other pre-season friendly matches as we get the news. Click here on the below graphic to see the current list of pre-season matches. - Murphy misses out of manager of the month award Nottingham Forest manager Colin Calderwood has taken the final manager of the month award as he guided his side to League One promotion, narrowly piping Town's former caretaker manager Gerry Murphy to the accolade. In his six match spell Murphy saw four wins and two draws, conceding just two goals as five clean sheets were kept. He took Town from 14th place to finish the season in 10th giving new manager Stan Ternent a decent platform to begin his tenure. 10th place was the highest position the Terriers had been since November when a 1-0 away victory at champions Swansea City took them ninth. The highest league position of the season was second in August, as Town opened the season with two victories. But a disappointing 2-0 loss at Crewe in September had dropped Town to 7th and they never tasted a top-six placing again, something which the board had pinpointed was a priority for departed boss Andy Ritichie. - Skarz signs up Joe Skarz is looking very likely to become the next brilliant full back to come out of Huddersfield Town's youth system as the 18 year old left back signed a new three year deal proclaiming "I always wanted to stay, I love playing for Huddersfield Town". Now only James Berrett remains to sign the deal he was offered, as Matthew Glennon and now Skarz have put pen to paper. - |

Hoyle thanks "superb" fans Chairman-elect Dean Hoyle issued a special message today as the club announced record Galpharm Stadium Season Ticket sales of 9,500 eclipsing the previous best of 9,478 (1999/2000). The club with aims of 13,000 now have the record season ticket sales of 14,000 (1970). Hoyle called the current sales "fantastic news" and told the official website that the club now much give "something back to the fans". You have until 17:00 May 23rd to get your season ticket at vastly reduced prices to avoid disappointment however you are urged to buy sooner rather than later. For more and for prices click here. Support Town during the Centenary Season - buy a season ticket and back them throughout 2008/2009. - Two on their way to Bantams Huddersfield Town striker Luke Beckett could be set to join Bradford City after Town gave their League Two neighbours permission to talk with 2007/2008 top scorer with 12 goals. Beckett who has one year left on his contract is also being tracked by City's league rivals Stockport County (where Beckett has performed the best throughout his career). Beckett could opt for Valley Parade to play for Stuart McCall who he will know well from his Sheffield United days. To be fair to Beckett never really got the chance to show Neil Warnock what he was made of, has he made just one starting game for the Blades having been a prolific goalscorer at Stockport. Should Beckett (31) go, it will free up extra wages and allow Stan Ternent room to bring in one if not two new striking options for next season. He has done OK during his time with the Terriers and could do well with Bradford as they look for League Two promotion next season. He has score 145 league goals from 308 appearances with a further 44 from the subs bench in a career which began at Barnsley in 1991. Beckett if he is signed by Bradford City (came to Town from Sheffield United on a free in June 2006) will have scored his last Town goal during the 2-1 home defeat of Brighton in March but during the latter parts of the season found his starting places limited. His first goals for the club (during his second start) was a brace in the 3-2 home victory over AFC Bournemouth, scoring two in the 10 minutes before half time. Released midfielder Chris Brandon could be the second Town player to join Bradford. Bradford-born Brandon who once played for Bradford Park Avenue admits that the City interest is interesting news. - Schofield goes to Huish Park Danny Schofield who was released at the end of the this season, although he did say he wanted to go at the end of this season back in February is to join Russell Slade's side. Slade has been tracking Schofield for some time now and was interested in the midfield playmaker last summer. The 28-year-old quit Town for personal reason's having spent 10 years with the club scoring 39 goals in 247 appearances. - Glennon finally signs Goalkeeper Matthew Glennon was one of just 3of the 16 out of contract players to be offered a new contract and the club was delighted to announce that Glennon has today signed his new contract. Glennon who is highly regarded as being the best 'keeper out of the Championship joined in the Summer of 2006 has signed a two-year extension the club does have a third year option. The 29 year old who was runner-up in this season's player of the season awards and was the highest appearance maker, as he has made over 100 appearances for Town since moving south from Scottish side St Johnstone. Perhaps the shot stopper who has an integral part to play in (what is hoped!) a promotion push next season could now be given the number one shirt, after Town failed to fill that shirt last season with Glennon keeping the 27 shirt. Meanwhile with Robert Page gone - he has signed a pre-contract agreement with League Two side Chesterfield, Stan Ternent is looking to plug that experience gap by approaching 36 year old Chris Lucketti. Lucketti is well known to Ternent having played under him at Bury and the former Town defender (who is out of contract at Sheffield United at the end of the season) could be an excellent tonic for Town's centre of defence. Indeed with his experience and the fact he formally captain the Galpharm club, Lucketti could become club captain for next season should Ternent secure the signature of him. Lucketti played (again captained the side) over 200 matches for Bury before joining Town in 1999 for £750,000. He scored twice in Town's colours in his 69 appearances during 1999-2001. His first in the league cup win at Scunthorpe United (August 1999) and in the league defeat at home to Crystal Palace in August 2000. - |

Website Comment: Back Stan! To read our comment on new manager Stan Ternent in response to the unnecessary and disappointing negativity from some websites and supporters click here.- Exclusive Article - "A Discussion with Dean" Click here to read our exclusive article. - RETAINED LIST: Only three of the out of contract players offered deals Stand Ternent has wasted no time on weilding the axe on the Terriers under-performing squad by allowing 9 of the 16 out of players to go. Robert Page has also gone signing a contract with League Two side Chesterfield having discounted Town's best offer. Andy Booth signed a new one year deal and new deals have been signed by Daniel Broadbent and Alex Smithes. The three to be offered new deals are impressive left back Joe Skarz, quality midfielder James Berrett and number one 'keeper Matthew Glennon. Of the one's to leave the most notable are those names of Frank Sinclair and Chris Brandon. The well publicised situation with Danny Schofield meant that he was already leaving the club, so the full list is: Of the nine to be released six came through the Terriers academy product, thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk would like to wish all released players the very best in their future career. Lucas Akins - Striker - Academy product Mitchell Bailey - Midfielder - Academy product Chris Brandon - Midfielder - signed July 2004, free (from Chesterfield) Aaron Hardy - Defender - Academy product Luke Malcher - Striker - Academy product Danny Racchi - Midfielder - Academy product Danny Schofield - Midfielder - signed August 1998, £2,000 (from Brodsworth) Frank Sinclair - Defender - signed May 2007, free (from Burnley) Matthew Young - Midfielder - Academy product Ternent certainly has plenty of work to do in the summer transfer window and will need to build a squad with new additions. Check back for more on whether or not the three players offered new deals will be signed. Town have also announced that four of this season's second-year academy scholars will be part of the first team squad next season. Shane Killock (defender), Alex Smithes (goalkeeper) and striker Daniel Broadbent signed deals earlier this season. Joining them is defender Daniel Codman and he becomes the fourth player from his academy 'class' to be offer a first-year full professional deal by Town. Two other players have not been offered deals at the Galpharm and will leave the club. They are Curtis Roberts and Tom Jackson. - Season Ticket News Update Click here for the latest number sold, as Patrick Stewart reveals he has purchased his! - |

Page-less Town Robert Page's Huddersfield Town career looks to have been only 20 matches as he is on his way out of the Galpharm Stadium. The 33 year old who was brought to the club by former boss Andy Ritchie looked set for another one year deal this summer, but it is believed he is about to open up talks with another club. He was signed from Coventry City until the end of the season and was out of contact at the end of it. He was made club captain by Gerry Murphy until the end of this season, but will not travel with the players for tomorrow's match at Luton Town. Stan Ternent wanted to keep Page, but it appears the Welsh defender wants to go elsewhere. The new boss is disappointed with the news and comes after just one meeting with him had opened up negotiations for an extension to his contract with Ritchie before he was sacked. The negative Town fans may point to Ternent as the reason behind Page wanting to leave the Terriers, we would prefer to say we would prefer players at the club who wish to remain at the club and play for Town. Of the 16 that appears to be number three down (Danny Schofield leaving, Andy Booth already signed a new deal and should captain the club tomorrow, unless they had it to Schofield). The club are still thrashing out a deal with Matthew Glennon. - Match Odds: Luton Town (away) For match odds for Saturday's match click here for the full story - New away kit to be revealed earlier than planned Despite what we have said in the past the new away kit for next season is not going to be revealed at the Arsenal pre-season match in August, but will now be revealed by the Galpharm club in June. Technical partners Mitre have a 'production slot' available which the club as accepted meaning that Town fans will be able to see the change strip for next season in June. Supporters will be able to purchase the new kit on Friday June 20th, 24 hours after it is revealed at what the club is calling a "special evening". Director Sean Jarvis told the official website: "We are currently planning an evening around the launch and will be inviting season ticket holders to come and see it and of course, be the first to buy it. More details on this we will be announced in the next few weeks." This site will keep you up to date with the developments of the away kit, and bring you pictures of it when it is available. The club is expecting a big uptake on the new away shirt whose colour and design are under strict secret, as it will now be available for supporters to take away on their summer holidays with them. The new supporter selected home kit will be available for pre-order in three weeks time for delivery date in July. The production of the new blue and white striped 'home' shirt as not been changed by technical partners Mitre. Both shirts will have main club affinity sponsor CasinoRed.com across the chest of the shirt. - Arsenal pre-season ticket news - Wednesday August 6th, 2008 Huddersfield Town will host Arsenal in a pre-season match at the Galpharm Stadium in August. The club have revealed that match tickets and hospitality packages are selling extremely fast for this much anticipated contest with the Premiership and European Giants. New manager Stan Ternent is wasting no time in his role as he expects to reveal the retained list of the out of contract players early next week. One of the sixteen definitely going is Danny Schofield, but another Andy Booth has already signed a one-year deal. Disciplinarian Ternent is quite happy to replace anyone who does not have the passion or desire to play for Huddersfield Town next season. Check back soon for details of the players who will be leaving the Terriers. Hopefully at the same time we might have some information on any of the Academy stars who have been offered professional deals by the club. The out of contract players are: Lucas Akins, Mitchell Bailey, James Berrett, Chris Brandon, Danny Broadbent, Matt Glennon, Aaron Hardy, Luke Malcher, Rob Page, Danny Racchi, Danny Schofield, Frank Sinclair, Joe Skarz, Alex Smithies and Matt Young. - Town play in orange shirt on Saturday! As the Terriers wave goodbye to 2007/2008, they will by wearing the orange 'third shirt' for the very final time. The orange shirt and black shorts kit as been used twice this season, with Town loosing both 1-4. In the JPT Town lost at Grimsby Town (September) and in December at Roots Hall (Southend). With Luton playing in black and white, it means neither of Town's first choice kits can be used and the orange one will have to reappear. The future as been far from bright for the orange shirt which was not offered for commercial sale by the club. 100 limited edition shirts were produced and issued to Blue and White Foundation members. - Record breaking month!
