Galphram accounts far from pleasing

Huddersfield Town have posted seven figure losses for the accounting period to May 2007 with income dropping as well. A big factor in the losses was a lack of cup run a poor showing in the league and massively reduced gate receipts. Average attendances this season have also continued to drop as Town have failed for consistent form.

All other key financial indicators also reveal a negative turn and Town will need on the field success to improve, starting with a decent turn out for the FA Cup 3rd round tie at the Galpharm against Premier League Birmingham City next month.

Chairman and owner Ken Davy will be disappointed with the overall financial figures as he was with the on field activities has he replaced Peter Jackson in March 2007 with Andy Ritchie. Although more favourable news is that all the debts owed to players following entrance into administration a few years ago is now cleared ahead of schedule.

The minimum goal last season was to reach the play-off's this did not happen, whereas the accounting period before the current one took in a FA Cup run and end of season play-off matches against local rivals Barnsley.

Losses are due for 12 months time as well, however the Town management believe it will be much smaller than the 12 months to May 2007.

In his chairman's report (his fourth since buying the company) Davy states that the club is still working hard on a prime objective for the club - a top 30 English club by 2008. Davy also spells out that he is going to give every opportunity for the club to be in a promotion place at the end of the season. Davy aware that off the field activities are also important to the club is still continuing to build a "robust commercial infrastructure .... maximising revenues".

The club also announced at the start of this season record shirt sponsorship deal.

Some of the key financial figures (12 months to May 2006 in brackets)

Balance: £1,055,094 [loss] (£61,754 [profit])
Income: £3.97m (£5.3m)
Gate Receipts: £2.02m (£3.1m)
Players Wages: £1.64m (£1.56m)

Jevons cleared to play!

Phil Jevons wants to stay at the Galpharm Stadium on a permanent basis with manager Andy Ritchie set to open discussions with Bristol City about securing the 28 year olds signature.

Jevons has scored goals since he arrived in Yorkshire from City last month and is keen to secure a move to the Galpharm having seen his chances at Ashton Gate limited this season. The striker wants to stay at the club where he is enjoying his football following three goals in five appearances with Ritchie just has keen to keep him.

Ritchie has called Jevons a "big asset" and will attempt in the January transfer deal to broker a deal for the hitman. Failing that the Town boss is keen to keep the former Yeovil Town player on loan for a further month.

His final loan appearance of his current deal ends ironically in the West Country this Saturday as Cheltenham Town host the Terriers in League One. Meanwhile the other loanee Ronnie Wallwork is still on Andy Ritchie's radar but he has make no mistake about it that securing Jevons long term is his "major target".

Young striker Lucas Atkins has remained at non-league Northwich for a second month on loan. Although the 18 year old has yet to find the net for Dino Massmria's side he has played a big part as Vics secured their first two wins of the season.
