Town fan launches bid to take control of club

Lifelong Huddersfield Town fan Adam Pearson has approached CEO Andrew Watson in a bid to buy Huddersfield Town Football Club. Pearson who was at the last home match has been out of football since selling his stake in Hull City - where he was chairman and oversaw a move to the impressive KC Stadium which resulted in average attendance's of over 16,000.

Adam Pearson took Hull City out of Administration in March 2001 and was an extremely popular figure at The Tigers as he was at the helm for two promotions during his six years in charge.

Watson has moved to say that current owner Ken Davy is not in the "market to sell the club" although Pearson's interest in Town will be a flilip to the supporters who have become increasing disenchanted with the current season and placed current manager Andy Ritchie and Davy under alot of pressure to make changes.

Supporters of the football club have long asked for additional investment into the football club as many see Town supporting Huddersfield Giants - who Ken Davy also owns. Pearson running the football club, with Davy the Giants with a combined interest in the Galpharm Stadium.

The 'dual board' could be under pressure to go should Pearson take control of Town.

Pearson has an excellent track record at both Leeds United and a six year stint at the helm of Hull City where he transformed the East Riding club beyond all former recognition. He is keen to find a way back into football, and his interest in Huddersfield Town will delight everyone concerned with the club, despite, perhaps, the current administration.

Current owner Ken Davy is happy to open dialogue with a man who is keen to get back into football and was linked with Leeds, Bradford and other clubs before turning his attentions to his home town club - including recent reports that he was about to launch a £90 million bid for Premier League side Derby County. Davy has been the Town owner since June 2003 when he brought the club out of Administration.

Davy is hoping that by having a meeting, the club can continue to focus on the matters what really matter (that is winning on the pitch) and not to allow these talks to distract the club. Davy runs the Terriers under the Sporting Pride banner with the rugby club.

Talks between all interested parties will be set up quickly when Pearson (who is reported to have received £5 million from the sale of Hull City in June 2007) will meet with Town officials who admitted that the approach had come out of the blue.

Loan move to bolster squad

With a squad lacking confidence and full of illness Town manager Andy Richtie as made the loan signing of West Bromich Albion midfielder Ronnie Wallwork. The former Manchester United player will join in time to make this debut this Saturday at home to Luton Town. He will wear the number 16 shirt.

Ritchie is hopeful that with the return of Frank Sinclair (defence) and Danny Cadamarteri (attack) with the addition of Wallwork Town should have and extra dimension to their look on Saturday.

The Terriers who need a victory against Luton after a series of three league defeats are also in talks about extending the loan spell of Irish defender Richard Keogh from Bristol City.

Ritchie was also quick to point out that the Town board supported him in brining in Wallwork.

Collins and Keogh play for Irish Under 21's

Midfielder Michael Collins and on-loan defender Richard Keogh both featured in last night's Republic of Ireland Under 21's 2-0 defeat to their counterparts from Portugal. Keogh played the full 90 minutes of the match Cork's Turners Cross stadium. In a tough European Qualification group that also features England, the Irish were up against it after just 3 minutes when the visitors scored their opening goal.

It was 2-0 to Portugal on 54 minutes but Collins who had come on just 4 minutes earlier as a substitute almost halved the deficit with a well placed shot.

Captain Booth and Kamara's first goals of the season seals comeback win

Match Result | Millwall 1-2 Huddersfield Town | League 1 | The Den | Att: 9,004 | September 01, 2007

Huddersfield Town successfully returned to winning ways this afternoon with their first victory at Millwall since 1982. Town record only their third ever victory thanks to first goals of the season for captain Andy Booth and Malvin Kamara.

After a lively start to the match it was no surprise when the home side took the lead on 41 minutes when Paul Robinson headed the Lions into the lead. Parity was restored moments later when a impulsive cross from Town debutante Richard Keogh whose cross found living legend Andy Booth in space who made no mistake by heading the Terriers level.

The home side claimed for off side, the referee had none of it, and Town were back on level terms as they went into the half time break.

Millwall started the second period as they had done the first in a lively and attacking manner, but it was the travelling army of almost 500 Town fans that roared on 52 minutes. The impressive livewire Malvin Kamara broke his Town goal duct by putting Town into the lead with a superb goal.

Town grabbed a hard fought and well battled three points at a ground where not many visitors will leave with much. In a match which both sides created chances, Andy Ritchie was happy that he saw his side leave South London with the points.

Disappointing news for Town was that Frank Sinclair who returned this afternoon from injury was replaced just before half time with an hamstring injury and is now likely to miss the journey to Grimsby Town for the Johnstone's Paint Trophy first round match on Tuesday evening.

Next Saturday's team selection is a headache for Ritchie. Town travel to Crewe Alexandra (a place they lost 3-0 live on Sky Television with Alex completing the double over Town) without Sinclair (unless his injury is not as bad as it could be!). Michael Collins and Richard Keogh will also not be available as they are on international duty for Republic of Ireland under 21's. Town are hoping that David Mirfin will return from injury and Ricthie is pencilling in Tom Clarke for a place in the side.
