Ritchie hunts loan market

Having made three permanent signings manager Andy Ritchie is ready to hunt in the loan market to bolster his Town side. The boss has said he has made promising progress with one enquiry believed to be from a championship side. There will be no move for Ritchie's former striker Paul Hayes who has signed for Scunthorpe United (who sold Billy Sharp to Sheffield United) despite negotiations with Ian Moore reportedly going nowhere.

Ritchie has said of Chris Brandon, that if Blackpool are not interested in tabling money for the Town midfielder he is more than welcome back at the Galpharm Stadium. Brandon will report to the Galpharm tomorrow with the rest of the 24 players in the squad. Ritchie has said that his board to date has been very good in backing his player acquisition plans as the manager keeps his eye on developments in the transfer market.

Keeper signs for Blackpool

Out of contract Town goalkeeper Paul Rachbuka has left the club and joined Championship side Blackpool on a two year deal. The American born 'keeper who joined Town initially on loan from Charlton has been on loan in Lancashire for the past six months, and as performed well during Blackpool's promotion season.

Rachbuka who performed well for the Terriers during the 2004 promotion season (including two penalty saves in the play off final shoot out). He signed on a permanent deal shortly before Christimas 2004 but has since dropped down the pecking order at the Galpharm Stadium since the arrival of Matthew Glennon at the start of the 2006/2007 season.

With Glennon and England young goalkeepers Simon Eastwood and Alex Smithes, Town boss Andy Ritchie feels he has plenty in the keeper position to not offer Rachbuka a contract extension. Although the back-up 'keepers are young, if required Town could make use of the emergency loan clause.

thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk would like to wish Rachbuka all the best for the future.

New signing points to the future

Danny Cadamateri looks to use his Town career to firmly shut the door on his troubled recent path and find the form that brought him rave reviews at Everton in his early career. The new striker is looking forward to pre-season training with his new colleagues and is delighted that Andy Ritchie has for the second time shown interest in him.

Cadamateri's intentions match the expectation of the Town fans in aiming for promotion in 2007/2008 but the former Bradford City striker knows that he does not join the Galpharm squad with a definite starting place. He said that once he knew the club was interested in him, he was only too happy to find out more.

He could have also chosen to join Doncaster Rovers whom he spent some time on loan with last season, but pointed to the Town manager as a reason he choose West Yorkshire against South.

Cadamateri wants to repay the faith shown in him by Ritchie by proving that he is worth the contract and a starting position, but knows "(I have it) all to prove", but he hopes the Town fans can see that he has a lot of football left him in.

It is certainly a new beginning for Cadamateri coming at a time of a new beginning for the football club, and has the player looks to haul his career back on track, Ritchie is looking to do the same with the clubs winning ways and promotion ambition.

"I have made mistakes in the past but this move is all about the future", so good luck to Danny Cadamateri has he embarks on a new (lets hope more fruitful) chapter of his career.

Hardy signs up!

Aaron Hardy has accepted the six-month contract deal offered to him by the club. The six-months will be an assessment period of his talents by new boss Andy Ritchie, so the defender will be hoping to put injury behind him to impress the manager enough to earn a further contract extension.

Hardy joins Andy Holdsworth and Danny Racchi in recently signing new deals.

Terriers make second summer signing

Bradford born striker Danny Cadamarteri has become Andy Ritchie's second summer signing in the day when the early bird incentive offer on season tickets ends. The former Everton starlet has joined on a two-year deal and ends an hunt for a player that Ricthie began during his time at Barnsley.

Town will be Cadamarteri's third professional West Yorkshire club and is hoping that his on and off the field recent problems have been put behind him as he looks to rebuild his career with the Terriers. Cadamateri although pleading accidental was sentenced to 180 hours community service for punching a woman in a Liverpool nightclub in 2000. A year ago he was sacked by Bradford City when he was found to have the banned substance ephedrine (a form of drug) in his system, again claiming innocence saying it was in a medicine he was taking for flu.

Although not the most exciting signing in the world and he will have to perform better than his record shows (28 goals from 146 starts and 107 substitute appearances) for the Town faithful to be happy with the 27 year old's signing. The Cleckheaton born player who was a revelation in the Everton junior ranks as the pace and power Ritchie is looking for from the Town attack and can play in a number of positions.

Subject to a medical he will sign for the Terriers until the summer of 2009.

Despite this signing manager Andy Ritchie is still on the hunt for additional players with striker Ian Moore still being hunted. Ritchie is confident of making a further player announcement in the next week or so, as he looks to build his squad for a serious promotion push next season.
