Ritchie who took Barnsley up last season via the play-off's was harshly sacked by the Tykes earlier this term. Match Result: Sinclair sees red as Town pick up point from travels Brighton Hove Albion 0 (0)-(0) 0 Huddersfield Town | Coca-Cola League One | Withdean Stadium | 5,974 - Glapham link to new Wembley England's new national stadium opens it's doors for it's first ever competitive match today and with it yet another direct link to the Terriers stadium that sits so proudly on Leeds Road. Yet another accolade for the former building of the year that opened it's doors for the opening match of the 1994/1995 season. Town's futuristic home which as become the envy of many clubs sites rising like a spaceship out of the tree lined Kilner Bank and although it may have received a new name since it opened it's doors it is still a much respected sporting arena for both rugby and football in the town of Huddersfield. Given the number of world stadia model on the Galpharm Stadium is evidence enough that it's Architech Australian born Rod Sheard whom since designing the Galpharm Stadium has gone onto design many others becoming Britain's leading expert on stadium design. With the help of the Town board, Sheard help to transform the face of English stadia and now he's gone perhaps just one step even better. For it is Sheard using the support he has gained since the opening of the Galpharm to design the new Wembley in London. The vision of Huddersfield was to build something different, Sheard made that dream become reality. English football's vision was for a new stadium to take English football forward and Sheard has changed the twin towers vision of the famous old Wembley into a gleaming new state of the art arena with the mesmerising 'banana' arch what the Australian calls "a true national stadium". A reality beset by problems, time delays and increasing costs, but a reality to be envied the world over - the Galpharm Stadium put down the clear ticker 'this is how England designs and builds it's new football stadiums'. Sheard calling the Galpharm Stadium "oh so special" commenting on the Town ground "We'd done a tour of the stadium and it was pretty ramshackle, grass growing through the terraces," 'Rod, make no mistake, we're going to do something pretty special here.' Their excitement, their enthusiasm for it was infectious." Confirming just why the Galpharm Stadium is a 'truly special place' following Town's move from the hallowed turf of Leeds Road. |

Hayes returns to Tykes On loan striker Paul Hayes has returned to parent club Barnsley after been recalled by Reds manager Simon Davey. Hayes who joined the Terriers after being out of favour at Oakwell following the appointment as Davey as Reds manager will miss what would have been his final match for Town at Brighton on Saturday. Hayes joined the Terriers hoping to perform to earn a contract in the summer, as he indicated that he was no longer required at Barnsley and is out of contract at the end of the season. He would have missed the match at Brighton even if he had not been recalled due to an injury sustained on Wednesday, so Town caretaker boss Gerry Murphy made the decision to allow the 23 year old return to Barnsley. Hayes scored once whilst at Town - the first in a 2-0 victory over local rivals Bradford City. The early return of Hayes has given striker John McAliskey yet another chance to shine in the first team following his two goals for the reserves as they hammered Barnsley 5-0 last night. - |

Brandon joins Rachbuka at Blackpool Chris Brandon has become the second Town player to be loaned to League One rivals Blackpool. Brandon joins the seasiders on loan until the end of season and moves straight into a side battling for promotion. Blackpool currently lie in suxth position in the league and in the final play off position. This season Brandon has struggled to make the first team at the Glapharm Stadium making 17 appearances and scoring one goal (the only goal for Town in a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Crewe last month). Brandon joined the Terriers form Chesterfield in 2004. He will not be able to feature against Town in April, although it is believed that Paul Rachbuka if selected can play against Town at the Galpharm Stadium. Meanwhile the club as announced that it as received over 30 applications for the vacant manager's job. The club is to draw up a shortlist of 5 or 6 and aim to appoint a new manager by mid to late April. During that time Gerry Murphy will be in caretaker charge with John Dungworth his assistant who saw his reserves win at Barnsley last night 5-0 - boosting his slim chances of becoming the first team manager. - We are back! thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk is delighted to announce that we are back in business following a period where we have been unable to update the website.
