Match Result: Late Danny Schofield goal wins Terriers all three points

AFC Bournemouth 1 (1)-(1) 2 Huddersfield Town | Coca-Cola League One | Fitness First Stadium | 5,263

The long trip to the South coast was well worth it after the Terriers won all three points in their clash with Bournemouth. A late goal won the match for the Terriers.

Town took the lead through a piece of individual brilliance from captain Jon Worthington on 12 minutes. A sweet move from the combative midfielder saw him run nearly 60 yards before unleashing a shot from all of 25 yards from Worthington to give Town the dream start.

Worthington had almost scored after just two minutes of the contest as the Terriers started brightly. The start from Town was in complete contrast to the previous two away games, and Jackson would have been happy to prevent an early goal against as he had asked the team to work on this following early concedes during the last two away games.

It was all level on 43 minutes when Stephen Purches scored the home side's equaliser, but Schofield's goal with just five minutes remaining gave Peter Jackson's side a much need three points. Luke Beckett put the ball forward for Schofield whose first time shot hit the back of the net to give Town a deserved victory. Schofield had only been on the pitch 12 minutes when he pounced to secure the three points and came after good work from Andy Booth.

The victory moves Town up into the top half of the table on 11th with 37 points, leaving Town fans who made the 516 miles round trip delighted. Town now have two home matches and will be using the new found confidence during the last two matches against Chesterfield and Gillingham, as Jackson's side aim for a late promotion push.

Team news from the Fitness First Stadium: AFC Bournemouth v Huddersfield Town

Peter Jackson has made just one change to the side that defeated Cheltenham a week ago. Michael Collins has returned from suspension and is put straight into centre midfield. Matty Young is the player to make way for the Irish man, with Young dropped to the bench.

The Terriers who are looking for back-to-back victories for only the third time this season will be aiming to prevent Bournemouth hitman James Hayter who loves scoring against Town, from scoring this afternoon. The home side field former England international Darren Anderton and also former Town player Marcus Browning.

Last season's match here finished in a 1-1 draw with Gary Taylor-Fletcher scoring the Terriers goal.

No squad additions before trip to the Fitness!

Despite his comments after last week's victory over Cheltenham Town no new faces have entered the Town squad ahead of the long trip to fourth bottom AFC Bournemouth. Peter Jackson will be aiming for a victory that could put them as high as 11th as he aims to halt the slide down the table.

It is vital for the upbeat manager that Town build on last Saturday's comfortable victory over Cheltenham and come away with at least a point for the Fitness First Stadium against a side that took a point from Town in September and twice led the Galpharm encounter.

Jackson has admitted that he has had a frustrating time in the transfer window this week as he looks to stop a once Town target James Hayter from scoring the goals this afternoon. Jackson has allowed Adnan Ahmed to go on trial at Lincoln City and the Town boss gave a trial to striker Ben Hunter, but decided not to give the American bound player a contract.

Doncaster born Hunter was tipped off to Jackson by the same person who found Danny Schofield and despite scoring in the reserves match at Port Vale (finished 1-1) the Town boss could not be certain of giving him a deal and with the 21 year old having a deal in the States lined up, felt it only fair to be upfront with the striker.

Jackson planned to have new faces in his squad before this afternoon's match and although disappointed with the lack of progress will still be keen to continue the hard work next week - during the last full week of the transfer window.

Danny Adams has been linked with Bradford City when his Town contract runs out at the end of the season. City boss Colin Todd has been a long time admirer of the left back and as said that Adams is 'on the list' for next seasons transfer targets.

Pawel Abbott is still suspended so Jackson is likely to make just a single change to the one that defeated Cheltenham a week ago. Michael Collins who was suspended for last week's match will replace Matty Young in midfield. Defender Martin McIntosh will continue in the centre of defence having no ill effects of the cut he sustained during the match last week.

Jackson still targeting squad changes

For the second week running Peter Jackson has assured Town supporters that there will be comings and goings during next week, despite seeing his side win for only the second time in 12 matches.

Jackson has confirmed that defenders Danny Adams (who did not play against Cheltenham) and Martin McIntosh (who did) will not be getting renewed contracts at the end of the season. Despite that, McIntosh put in an excellent display which delighted the manager and gave Jackson food for thought and gave him the "response he wanted".

Jackson who made four changes to the starting line up that was well beaten at Yeovil Town last Friday said that he has received no offers for Pawel Abbott. Abbott still has a year to run on his contract and said that any movement of his will be at the discretion of other clubs.

Jackson who would not be drawn into the what's, when's and how's of any deals did confirm that there would be changes to the squad both additions and reductions.

Fingers crossed that with just over two weeks left of the transfer window any dealings Jackson does are for the benefit of Huddersfield Town.

Jackson was pleased with the result after a bad week for the club and was pleased with the form of Luke Beckett (who scored the second goal) and fellow striker Andy Booth (who grabbed the first goal).

Must win game for Town

This afternoon's game, which as been given discount pricing at the Galpharm Stadium, is a must win game for Huddersfield Town. The struggling Terriers are 16th in the league one table just four points clear of the relegation zone. This afternoon's visitors, who at one point occupied a play off place are second bottom on 24 points.

After a disappointing Christmas, and the last two disappointing matches (lost 3-0 at Doncaster and lost 3-1 at Yeovil) Town will be keen for a victory in the first match at home in 2007 and reward the long suffering fans.

Those long suffering fans had hoped for a new face in an injury and suspension hit squad with manager Peter Jackson keen on bringing in a new face before this match. But despite Jackson's hard work this week he has failed to bring in a new face and instead has spoken only about the players who can leave the club.

Despite lack of viable defensive options, Jackson this week as said that Danny Adams and Martin McIntosh can both go. He has also said that he is open to offers for striker Pawel Abbott.

Hopefully Jackson who is calling this one and "important game to win" is focusing his squad on securing maximum for what would only be the second maximum points haul in 12 matches is hoping that the discount pricing will help bring stay away supporters to the Galpharm.

Jackson must start with 2 recognised strikers, as with Andy Booth as a lone striker is an ineffective and costly tactical error. After his performance in the reserves at Elland Road in midweek, Luke Beckett must be a strong candidate to start the match. He scored in the 1-0 victory at Elland Road and looked positive when replacing Booth at Yeovil last Friday evening.

Jackson knows his side need a performance this afternoon and that the Town supporters deserve one. Cheltenham will offer a good battle for the Terriers who defeated Town 2-1 at Whaddon Road in September during a run that put the South West side highly in the table.

Jackson still remains confident that his side can do well in his division but the hard work, including winning matches must start this afternoon. A further defeat and the calls for Jackson to leave as manager will continue to snowball.

Time for Jackson to go?!

After the latest embarrassing defeat - this time shown live on SKY TV and the apparent lack of understanding of what to do in the current situation, it sadly looks like time as come for Peter Jackson's second reign as Huddersfield Town manager to come to an end.

Not only have the supporters become increasingly disillusioned with the current situation but so do the players and the management team. To be fair to Jackson he looks like a manager who knows he is under attack, but he will also know he is on a big contract with a club that really cannot afford to let him go.

Devoid of tactics, devoid of knowledge and seemingly devoid of his normal passion Jackson looks like a lamb to the wolves, as he increasingly loses touch with the supporters who have backed him as a manager and as a player and given him wonderful times whilst with Huddersfield Town Football Club.

Jackson is a manager locked onto passion and commitment, but that seems to be dwindling as quickly as the slide down the League One table. He has very little experience in his management team following the departure of Terry Yorath and few fighters in a team that simply may not be good enough for this division.

As Jackson taken the club as far as he can? The answer is yes, but the same answer must be given that many of the current players, including some of the home grown talent.

Will it take the chairman and owner Ken Davy (who has also come under attack from many supporter quarters) to give Jackson the sack or will Jackson do the honourable thing and resign? Time will tell if either will happen … one thing is for sure will be if Jackson does leave the Galpharm Stadium, it is critical that the new manager in charge is given time, funds and is the right person for the job.

Thanks for the memories, Jackson now be the man you are and realise this situation cannot continue, or you will take Town back to where you picked it up and those wonderful play-off memories (something you still live on) will evaporate as quickly as the remaining support for yourself.

Match Result: Horror show in first half leaves Terriers licking wounds

Yeovil Town 3 (3)-(0) 1 Huddersfield Town | Coca Cola League One | Huish Park | 5,554

Pressure continues to mount on under-fire Town boss Peter Jackson after an inept performance in the 3-1 defeat at Huish Park. After calamity defending in the first period, Town improved in the second half but with only a Gary Taylor stylish goal to show for those efforts and the 154 Town fans who travelled the long distance to Somerset were again left bitterly disappointed.

A make shift Town side conceded after just 4 minutes of the televised clash, as the TV camera curse struck the Terriers yet again. With Yeovil marauding forward at will in the first half and home strikers Leon Best, Lee Morris and former Terriers Marcus Stewart in inspired form as a stunning first half period from the home side deservedly saw them lead 3-0 at the break.

The scoreline at half time could have been much worse for the Terriers had goalkeeper Matt Glennon not been in great form, his best a double save just after the half mark to prevent Yeovil extending their advantage.

Town improved in the second half, but that was not too difficult and the Taylor-Fletcher goal on 50 minutes gave the Terriers hope. A deft chip over the home keeper gave the visiting supporters something to cheer, but despite efforts from Andy Booth, Taylor-Fletcher and Luke Beckett (a second half sub for Booth) Town could have got something out of the game. A terrific header by Booth just eight minutes after the Taylor-Fletcher goal, which was narrowly missed the goal would have set up a grandstand finish.

The shape in the first half was poor. Yeovil had too much space, commanded the midfield and attacked with purpose and at will. The pace of the Yeovil attack's and the fluidity of them caused the Terriers all the problems in the first half as the midfield and defence failed to pick up their man, and looked lethargic throughout the first half. Jackson changed the shape in the second half and pushed Taylor-Fletcher upfront with lone striker Booth, and although it was a better performance in the second half there is still a lot of work for Huddersfield Town to be done.

The guess would be how many of the 154 Town supporters at the ground and those back in West Yorkshire were thinking at half-time, when will Jackson resign after such a horrid first half display in which Yeovil with a little bit more luck could have doubled their score tally. Jackson also looked totally clueless and shell shocked before the match and during the match and was not or did not want a TV interview after the match.

Yet again Town have shipped goals and given them a mountain to climb by gifting sides a massive strides in the game, before the Terriers begin to think about half playing. The team is missing good old fashioned battlers. The Terriers need a Darren Bullock or a Ronnie Jepson to help put some fight back into the team.

Flashbacks to Oakwell a couple of season's ago - again on SKY TV must have been springing back to Jackson at half time, although the television commentators did say that the performance from Town in the first half was one of the worst ever seen.

As for the lack of options in central defence. Luke Beckett replaced Andy Booth in the second half and did well up front, therefore a viable option would be for Booth to go into central defence and play Beckett (or Abbott following his suspension) as a lone striker if Jackson wants to continue to use the 4-5-1 formation.
