Speculation ended! Peter Jackson has today confirmed his second summer signing of the week with the announcement that striker Luke Beckett will join on Monday subject to a medical. Beckett who joins from Sheffield United for an undisclosed sum - rumoured to be around £65,000 - on a three-year deal will delight Town fans who saw him score six goals in seven matches whilst on loan during the 2004/2005 season. 29 year old Beckett who is 30 this November has arrived at Town thanks to the extra revenue of Town playing in last season's play-offs. Jackson revealed that he wanted to wait for this day although he did have other options should the player not have joined from the Blades. Of the signing Jackson said "I am delighted to have that we have reached an agreement on Luke. He is a proven goalscorer and I am sure he will be huge success here" The signature of Beckett could pave the way for John McAliskey to leave on loan next season to gain first team exposure. Jackson is likely to start with Andy Booth and Luke Beckett up front, with Pawel Abbott coming on from the bench. On paper a fairly potent striking duo. Beckett who could have joined Oldham Athletic earlier this month, the club he was on loan at last season, was also tracked by Darlington and Bradford City amongst other clubs. In 251 league appearances Beckett has scored 122 goals including 18 last season from 27 appearances. Town wanted to sign Beckett after his successful loan spell which ended in February 2005 but could not finance the deal, it is excellent news that the Terriers have found the finances to purchase the striker now. Beckett becomes only the second monetary signing for Jackson since he rejoined the club - Number of fixture changes There have been a plethora of fixture changes all of which can be found in the Fixtures & Results section. The Terriers have confirmed that the Carling Cup tie with Mansfield Town will take place at the Galpharm Stadium on August 22 with a 19:45 kick off - |

More players linked to Galpharm Stadium, as Jacko tracks Beckett! It's all go on the transfer front at the moment at the Galpharm Stadium with Peter Jackson intent on making a number of summer captures. Whilst the rest of the world sets about enjoying a month-long World Cup tournament Jackson has turned his sites to Central America! Jackson, who is disappointed not to have made any signings so far this summer, is targeting St Johnstone goalkeeper Matt Glennon who is currently on honeymoon in Mexico. The 27-year-old former Carlisle United, Hull City and Falkirk stopper has said that the deal the Terriers have offered him, is far too good at this stage of his career to turn down. The Scottish League One side would like to keep him, but are unable to match Town's offer. Glennon only joined St Johnstone from Falkirk in January of this year and only tasted defeat once in his 12 matches for Owen Coyles side. The final match of the season saw him keep a clean sheet during their victory at Scottish League One champions St Mirren. He scored a goal last season as well! The late equaliser at Ross County. He is however one of many 'keepers being linked with a move to the Terriers. After the period of will Town or wont they, Peter Jackson has finally shown the Town hand. He has admitted that the Terriers are interested in signing Sheffield United striker Luke Beckett, should Oldham Athletic stall past mid-june. He was on loan with the Terriers during the 2004/2005 season scoring six goals in seven matches. Jackson believes in the 29-year-old proven goalscorer and would like to re-ignite the striking partnership of Andy Booth and Beckett - |

Town linked to two players In a surprise turn-around striker David Graham could be joining Town full time after all. Graham returned to Sheffield Wednesday after his loan deal expired when the Terriers lost the League One play-off semi-final, but after being told by Hillsborough chief Paul Sturrock he is not guaranteed first team football with the Owls, Town boss Peter Jackson has confirmed that the Terriers are tracking the striker. Jackson is also been linked with a move for Sunderland left back Dan Smith, who is not to be offered another contract by the North East club. Smith had three months on loan last season before his recall due to player issues at Sunderland. Smith will join Town on a free transfer at the end of the month, although they will have to pay compensation to the Black Cats has Smith is under 24. Jackson has assured the supporters in spite of no signings so far this summer, he is working hard on bringing the right calibre into the club. He says he has a number of irons in the fire, and things will progress once people return from their summer holidays.
