Jackson charged by FA

Following the spat with Bristol City's Lee Johnson during Town's 2-1 victory against the South West side manager Peter Jackson has been charged by the FA with improper conduct.

Jackson had hoped that following a chat with match referee Paul Taylor, who asked Jackson to sit in the stand after the incident, cleared the matter but the referee included the incident in his match report.

Jackson appeared to place his hand onto Johnson's face after the Bristol City player approached Jackson for the ball after it had gone out for a throw in but with both Jackson and City manager Gary Johnson (Lee Johnson's father) had dismissed the incident after the game, that seemed to be the end of the incident which instigated a mass brawl between the players.

Jackson is disappointed to have been given this charge and will appeal personally against it. The manager did not feel that he had a case to answer and claims that the referee did not send him off but asked him to sit in the stand to cool down.

He has until Tuesday to state his case

Reserves finally win!

After two previous defeats the reserves finally tasted victory by beating Bradford City 1-0 at the Galpharm Stadium. The young Town side with the experience of Paul Rachubka, Tom Clarke and John McAliskey dominated an interesting tie with Bradford and had a stunning strike from Luke Malcher seconds into the second half for securing the victory.

Meanwhile young 'keeper Alex Smithes shone for the England under 17's as the Three Lions drew with Turkey 2-2 at Griffin Park. The highly rated Town junior who received high praise for his performance even saved a second half penalty

Brandon and Worthington still crocked

Midfield pair Chris Brandon and Jon Worthington remain injury headaches for manager Peter Jackson with both missing from the away game at Crewe this Saturday.

Brandon has begun light training but the Crewe match will come too soon for him. Captain Jon Worthington remains out following an hernia operation and Adnan Ahmed's injury problems continue as he is overcoming a foot injury.

Worthington could be out for up to a month, but will join his team in the dressing room ahead of matches, bar this Saturday's clash. Worthington is hoping to be back in action soon but is refusing to give any targets

Watson in new role

Chief Executive Andrew Watson is stepping down from the role to become the new Vice Chairman of the club. Watson who has played a significant part in the success of the club since joining three years ago will balance the part time position with the Terriers with his other personal business interests.

Watson will continue to help develop the club but much of his day to day work will reside now with new development director Sean Jarvis. Watson will work closely with Jarvis remaining an active member of both Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants boards.

Watson has called the appointment an "honour" after three years with the Terriers he calls "exciting". Watson a former Town trainee is looking forware to working with the new business development director.

Watson has been largely responsible for taking Town from the brink of going under to having every department flourishing. The club is in a relatively healthy financial position now and much more stable than three years ago.

The role of Chief Executive of Huddersfield Town as indeed gone with this news.

Early kick-off

Remember that the match at the Galpharm Stadium against Nottingham Forest will kick off at the earlier time of 12:30. This is due to Huddersfield Giants appearance in the rugby league challenge cup final against St Helens.

Town will be without injured captain Jon Worthington but Gary Taylor-Fletcher (ankle) and Worthington's replacement in midweek Michael Collins (head) should both be fit to face second placed Nottingham Forest who are unbeaten so far this season.

Forest have beaten Blackpool (2-0) and Northampton Town (1-0) on their travels this season with new boss Colin Calderwood making and initial impact.

Town will be aiming to become the first side to win points from Forest this season and score a goal against them on their travels

Jacko blasts players after cup debacle!

Peter Jackson was in despondent mood following the depressing 2-0 Carling Cup defeat at the hands on Mansfield Town. On a night of many shocks, Town was dumped out at the first stage of the league cup competition following a dire performance.

Jackson felt his team deserved to lose after seeing Mansfield be the better side throughout. He also felt it was one of the worst performances since returning as manager but rumours relating to dressing room's bust-ups have been criticised by Jackson as "complete internet rubbish".

Jackson felt on the night, in which he fielded a strong side there was only one player young Michael Collins who deserved any praise. The rest were poor the worst offender Nathan Clarke. Not one for keeping his feelings to himself Jackson heavily criticised his players but the fact that all season thus far Town have failed to really perform like they should be, must be a measure that Jackson needs to look at himself for.

Jackson is reported to be at times very downbeat and not his normal motivated self. It is a suggestion that this could now be being translated to the players - their performances are certainly suggesting this.

The Stags went through courtesy of goals from Michael Boulding and Richard Barker. Both goals had comical Town defending written all over them and ever since Jackson gave him the title "one of the best keepers in the division" Matthew Glennon has looked anything than, although he did make a number of crucial saves last night to prevent an even bigger shambles.

The second goal, which looked off side was down to poor defending from Clarke. The Town crowd once again rang their dismay at the performance with a number of boos throughout the second half.

Jackson said "In the three years I have been back at the club, the players have probably let me down five or six times. This evening was the seventh".

Town must improve on Saturday as they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Galpharm Stadium, or else!

Trio missing for tonight's Carling Cup clash

The Terriers will be missing three players for the visit of League Two side Mansfield Town who will travel the short journey to West Yorkshire with a fully fit squad. Peter Shirliff will be hoping his Stags side can create the same kind of upset Accrington Stanley did last night by beating Nottingham Forest.

Joining Chris Brandon on the sidelines for this evening's contest is captain Jon Worthington and strike Gary Taylor-Fletcher. Worthington picked up a groin strain whilst Taylor-Fletcher suffered an ankle problem during the League One draw at Brentford on Saturday

-

Town reserves lose again!

The Terriers second string have began the new Pontins League season in poor form going down 3-1 away at West Brom in their second league match. A young Town side scored on 34 minutes - to equalise - through Alex Hallam

Sporting pride appoint local boy!

Current Oldham Athletic Marketing Director Sean Jarvis is to join the Galpharm Stadium staff as the new Director of Business Development. Jarvis who is 36 and lives 10 minutes from the stadium is hoping to achieve the dreams of both Huddersfield Town and Huddersfield Giants.

Jarvis will end a positive relationship with Oldham Athletic next move before been installed in his position in Huddersfield. Due to his ability and professionalism he helped Oldham through their administration period and was acknowledged by the town with a "Pride of Oldham" accolade.

thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk would like to wish Sean Jarvis all the best in his new role

Result: Brentford 2 (0)-(0) 2 Huddersfield Town, Griffin Park, Coca-Cola League One, 5,709

The Terriers secured their first point on their travels this afternoon as they twice came from behind to snatch a late point at Griffin Park. Brentford twice took the lead through Jo Kuffour (68 & 88) but the Terriers twice equalised.

There was a return to the starting line-up in place of the injured Chris Brandon and legend Andy Booth was named on the bench. Both made impacts on the match with Andy Booth replacing Gary Taylor-Fletcher through injury at half time

The first equaliser came from Danny Schofield on 72 minutes. A pass from Andy Booth found Schofield in the box who made no mistakes. The second equaliser came via striker Luke Beckett two minutes into injury time. The former Sheffield United man stroked home an Andy Booth knock-down to delight the travelling supporters from West Yorkshire.

After the match Town boss Peter Jackson was once again disappointed with the goals the Terriers conceded but predictably warmed to the way his side came back twice in the match.

The point leaves Town 6th in the League One table on 7 points.

Prices for the Mansfield cup tie on Tuesday evening at the Galpharm Stadium

Both sets of supporters will take advantage of reduced ticket admission for the first round Carling Cup tie in Huddersfield. Adults will pay £10 and OAP/Students £5. To try to attract as many children and families as possible to the stadium for the clash juniors will be able to enter for a single pound.

The pricing as delighted the visitors on Tuesday evening, with some Stags asking for their own chairman at Fieldmill to take note. It will be the first time the Terriers have faced Mansfield since the 2003/2004 play-off final in Cardiff. The last time Mansfield visited Huddersfield the Stags won 3-1 thanks largely to a Junior Mendes inspired performance.

Many believe the performance of Mendes on that day prompted Town boss Peter Jackson to bring in to the Galpharm a few weeks later.

Town progressed to round 2 of this competition last season and two season before reached the third round where they narrowly got beaten by Reading after putting out then Premier League side Sunderland at the Stadium of Light

Fletch and Mirf sign-up!

Gary Taylor Fletcher and popular young defender David Mirfin have bought signed contract extensions. Taylor-Fletcher is now contracted to the club until September 2009 and has already brought stardom to the Terriers this season with the 500,000th Football League goal.

Former Town Academy player Mirfin as signed until June 2009, with manager Peter Jackson delighted to have the pair signed up

-

Brandon missing

Chris Brandon is likely to miss Saturday's match at Brentford after injuring his ankle during training this week. Brandon's performance against Bristol City last weekend was good, and him missing will be a big loss to Peter Jackson who is looking to win the Terriers third game on the bounce, after the opening day defeat

-

Tosh shock!

Experience defender Martin McIntosh has gone to Grimsby Town on a month's loan with manager Peter Jackson explaining that the Scottish defender needs first team football to maintain match fitness.

McIntosh who is 35 will not be allowed to play in the Carling Cup First Round match with Crewe next Tuesday and should feature for the Mariners against Mansfield Town this evening.

McIntosh was dropped from the first team after his poor display during the 2-1 loss at Gillingham. David Mirfin replaced him for the next two matches which the Terriers have won.

This could signal the end of his Terriers career having joined from Rotherham United in 2005 - he has one year left to run on his current deal.

The big defender played 24 times in all competitions last season with a further two from the bench and scored 4 league goals, despite injuries denying him more appearances.

But as Jackson states, he has plenty of younger cover for those positions he was only too happy to allow Grimsby to take him on loan after their manager Graham Rodger approach Jackson

Jackson rates new 'keeper

After just three league matches of the season Town boss Peter Jackson is delighted with his summer 'keeper acquisition in Matthew Glennon calling him "one of the best in the division".

Glennon who so far this season has started all three matches and helped Town to 6 points from a possible 9 has been called "excellent" by Jackson during his short Town career.

It was Glennon's super save against Bristol City when he tipped a 25 yard shot onto the bar when it looked like it was going to fly in which turned the match in Town's favour. The Terriers ended up winning the match 2-1 but Jackson is certain that without that save Town would have lost

Davy hits out at Forest snub!

The Terriers Chairman Ken Davy is disappointed with Nottingham Forest over their lack of agreement to change the forthcoming Town v Forest match at the Galpharm Stadium. The match will be played on August 26th, the same date of Huddersfield Giants Rugby League Challenge Cup Final with St Helen's.

Town approached Forest for the match to be played on the following Tuesday as police could not accommodate the Friday evening or Sunday and Forest refused. The match will now be played at 12:30 on the Saturday, but Davy remains incensed with Nottingham Forest who appear to have refused the fixture day change on grounds that fewer of their supporters would have travelled the short distance on a Tuesday evening.

It is the first time in almost 50 years that the rugby league club as reached a major cup final and many supporters back both the rugby and football teams in Huddersfield. Davy stated that without Forest's support the Football League could not move the fixture.

Davy expressed his anger when apologising to supporters when saying "I am bitterly disappointed". The rugby final at Twickerham will be screened live on television at 14:45

Focused Pav aims for higher

On form Town striker Pawel Abbott, is to put behind the disappointing end to last season and focus on Town getting promoted. Abbott who started last season on first wilted away in the second half and was almost released to Milton Keynes Dons during the summer.

Abbott turned down a move south and is now aiming for better things with Town. Polish born Abbott who has scored two goals so far this season said "I'd already vowed to myself to work hard during pre-season, but realising the boss would have let me go made me all the more determined to succeed here".

The effort of Abbott as been seen by Peter Jackson who has called him "excellent" and the manager said he was "delighted" with Abbott's winner against Bristol City

Jackson expresses anger

Peter Jackson who was sent to the stands during Saturday's League One victory over Bristol City at the Galpharm Stadium has shown anger at some of this side's supporters. Jackson who has seen his side bounce back after the abysmal opening day performance at Gillingham was disappointed with the reaction of a few supporters with the neat passing play during the 2-1 victory over the Robins.

Although Jackson was still unimpressed with last Tuesday evening's 3-0 win over Rotherham, but was happier with the Bristol City performance, despite still going behind to a badly defended goal. They needed Matt Glennon to produce a stunning save to stop City going into a 2-0 lead which stirred the Terriers into form.

Jackson seems to be damned whatever his side do and even though his side came back from a 1-0 deficit to produce a stirring 2-1 win over a side Jackson expects to see up there at the end of the season still received criticisms from some parts of the Galpharm Stadium.

Jackson is not expecting any FA action over the ugly incident that led to him been sent to the stands as according to the boss he was not shown a red card and was asked by the referee to calm down in the stands. The referee also confirmed to Jackson that he would not be including the incident in his match report.

Lee Johnson was the player who Jackson appeared to grab by the throat has the City player attempted to grab the ball from Town manager Jackson. Johnson whose father Gary is the City manager was also booked but the City boss felt that there was no malice in the altercation. The altercation did spark a mass brawl between both sets of players, and Jackson must be expecting a heated reception on the return trip to the West Country.

Perhaps Jackson's frustration came after some Town supporters began booing during a 17-pass move which led to the Town equaliser. Jackson said supporters criticise him if they play too many long balls when talisman Andy Booth is playing, and then do it if they play the ball on the deck and pass it around.

It is a disappointing element to Town that they have some supporters like this, and Jackson believes he must be the only manager of a football side that is booed for playing exciting passing football which lead's to an equalising goal. Luckily Jackson realises it is just a sad minority what behave that way and hung firm that his side will continue to play attractive passing football.

Let's hope the boo boys lose their voice so the majority of the usually excellent Town fans can back Town this season, restarting with the tough trip to London on Saturday to face Brentford, who like Town lost in last season's play-off semi-finals

-

Boothy is back!

Living legend Andy Booth is set to play for the second string against Leeds United on Wednesday evening. Booth has missed the last two league matches for the first team through injury and manager Peter Jackson who said that Booth is a massive factor for the Terriers this season could bring Booth back into first team contention for the tricky trip to Brentford on Saturday

-

Dons track Smith

Former Town left back target Dan Smith of Sunderland is been tracked by Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen. Smith who did well whilst on loan at the Galpharm Stadium last season was recalled to Sunderland to try and help them avoid relegation.

With Sunderland's relegation many felt that the 19 year old would leave the Stadium of Light on a free transfer with him out of contract. However Smith ended week's of speculation when he signed a new one year deal with the BlackCats.

But Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood has said that his side are looking at Smith
