Season ticket sales continue to soar

With an exciting season ahead for the Terriers, Town supporters are snapping up the early bird cut price offer before the incentive ends at 5pm this Friday.

Already almost 6,000 tickets have been sold and the club expects to top the 8,100 season ticket holders 12 months ago.

With the club expecting a big uptake on the offer in the final two days of the offer, and with postal applications needing to be posted at the latest tomorrow afternoon Ken Davy is looking at 9,000 season tickets to help the club break-even.

Davy said it would be "wonderful" if the club could secure 9,000 season ticket sales and the Chairman is set to pay off the remaining £150,000 owed to the Players Football Association.

A new incentive this season the 'Mini Terriers' season ticket for the under 8's as proved massively popular. Despite this increase in ticket sales, Davy has stressed that the club will not be brining in many new signings, although he stresses that the squad does not need it.

Davy has confirmed that CEO Andrew Watson and first team manager Peter Jackson are fully aware of what the transfer budget is set at for next season, has Davy hopes to keep "Town on track" for his vision of guiding Town to a top 30 position in the league ladder by the Terriers 2008 Centenary.

Davy has given an indication of the type of player likely to be entering the Galpharm throughout the summer, has he wants to see the players brought in to be of "strength and maturity", as he aims for Jackson's squad to be in next season's play-off's at least

Worthington signs new contract

Terriers captain Jon Worthington has signed the new contract put before him by manager Peter Jackson.

Worthington now has a deal that runs up to the summer of 2007.

The midfielder who missed the last 4 matches of the season due to injury is set to be fully fit for the start of next season. With Jackson hoping for better things next season, Worthington as the engine in the middle of the pitch will be key to any success.

Jackson is delighted that his "leader on and off the pitch" has signed this new deal

Manager Peter Jackson who said that Booth is "important to us" will be aiming to give him a contract extension when his contract deal expires next summer.

Manager Peter Jackson continues his development of a long term on the field success, by opening talks with Jon Worthington and Chris Brandon to get the two midfielders contracted like the rest of his players to 2007.

It seems like Jackson is building a two year plan to 2007 with his current squad and these are the latest of many moves recently Jackson has done to ensure that his retained squad are contracted up to 2007.

Captain Worthington and influential midfielder Brandon had contracts up until next summer
-

Although manager Peter Jackson is looking to bring in a number of players for next season, one of them will not be former idealised strikers Marcus Stewart who is on the look out for a new club since his release from Sunderland.

Jackson has said that he could not afford the financial package that someone like Stewart would demand. Jackson spoke glowingly of Stewart both as a person and a footballer.

For Town although the heart would have said bring back Stewart, the head and the finances dictate that a move to bring back Stewy would not be the best idea. It would be unfair to give one player such a wage when the Terriers are working with such a tight and strict wage budget.

Town need to be successfully on building the success off the field as well as on the pitch. Under Jackson the club are going in the right direction on the pitch and under the guidance of Ken Davy the club are building the correct foundations off it.

Perhaps some Town fans will point to yet another under 4,000 crowd at the Giants home match with London, yet the Rugby League side owned by Town owner Ken Davy seem to be able to spend on bringing big name players to the Galpharm to play the Rugby League code of football

Young striker Akpo Sodje has finally been released by Peter Jackson. Sodje who towards the end of the season was loaned out to League Two side Darlington was released having had just one season at the Galpharm.

Jackson who called the younger brother of Efe Sodje a "good lad" saw the striker impress in reserve outings (his goals helped Town to the league title), but fail to make a break through into the first team.

Whilst at Darlington Sodje scored his one and only league goal - the third goal of three during the Quakers final league match.

We wish him well

Town boss Peter Jackson has said that he is "frustrated" that the football season is over. Jackson who was talking to the clubs official website, spoke of his delight that Town ended the season in record-breaking form.

The club who won 8 and drew 1 of their last 9 matches were in promotion form, until it came to an abrupt end with the fixtures running out.

Jackson hopes that his young players continue to progress, whilst he will bring in a few players during the close season as he looks to build a side for promotion

-
He's been a great inclusion in Peter Jackson's first team squad and could arguably be the best young player on the books at Town, now things have gone even one stage better for Tom Clarke.

Clarke has been called up to the England Under 18 squad, and could feature for the England side in a friendly with Norwary at Vale Park on June 10.

His club manager Jackson has said that Clarke "deserves" this call-up

-
Town's Republic of Ireland Under 19 International captain Michael Collins has signed a new two-year deal with the club

-
Released Sunderland striker Marcus Stewart has said that he would be "very flattered" if Town was to show an interest in bringing the popular former striker back to Huddersfield.

The 32-year old who has cult status in his adopted home of Huddersfield is said to be already talking with a new club just 24 hours after playing his final league game for Sunderland.

Stewart who would not dismiss Town showing an interest in him, is in a open mind when it comes to choosing the club where he would likely end his career, and is keeping his options open

One of those is said to be Swindon Town's Sam Parkin, but could the other be our very own Pawel Abbott? Watch this space for more!

League One and League Two Play-off's
Semi-Finals

One: Tranmere Rovers v Hartlepool United, Brentford v Sheffield Wednesday

Two: Southend United v Northampton Town, Macclesfield Town v Lincoln City
-

Huddersfield Town will welcome Yeovil Town, Scunthorpe United and Swansea City to next season's League One, as all three secured promotion from League Two.

Town will also face either Southend United, Macclesfield Town, Lincoln City or Northampton Town who have all made the League Town play-off's
-

Two goals from former Town captain Efe Sodje was enough to help Yeovil to the League Two title and ensure a return to the Galpharm Stadium of the enigmatic Nigerian. Younger Sodje - Akpo, scored his first league goal of the season for Darlington, but that goal from the on-loan Town striker was not enough for the Quakers to push into League Two's play-off zone
-

Town striker Pawel Abbott finishes third in the top scorer list for League One with his 26 league goals. Abbott was behind Hull City's Stuart Elliott and Dean Windass of Bradford City.

Former loan striker Luke Beckett, who scored Oldham's winning goal against Bradford to keep the Latics in the division ended the season with 19 goals

All promotion/relegation news from League One on the final Saturday of the season:

Champions: Luton Town
Promoted: Hull City
Play-Off's: Tranmere Rovers, Brentford, Sheffield Wednesday, Hartlepool United

Relegated: Stockport County, Peterborough United, Wrexham, Torquay United
-

RESULT: Wrexham 0-1 Huddersfield Town

Town defender David Mirfin scores the only goal of the game on 43 minutes, as the Terriers end the season on a high note winning their eighth match from the last 9.

This result ensured that Peter Jackson's class of 2004/2005 equalled the best ever finish by a Town side, a record that as stood for some 85 years
-

Former Town midfielder Dwayne Mattis has scooped two end of the season awards at new club Bury. Huddersfield born Mattis who was released at the end of last season won both the Shakers Player of the season and website player of the season
-

Former Town favourite, and best ever Town player Marcus Stewart has been told by current club Sunderland that he will be released at the end of the season. Stewart who is now 32, has scored 17 league goals as Sunderland have achieved promotion to the Premiership.

Stewart who has hero status amongst Town fans who proclaim him as "There's only one Marcus Stewart", could possibly be fancied for a return to the club, should his wages not pose a problem to the Town board and should manager Peter Jackson want him.

Stewart and Pawel Abbott upfront next season, what a mouth-watering prospect that would be and with the likes of Junior Mendes, John McAliskey and Andy Booth to come from the bench, Town would have a very interesting and feared attacking line-up
-

06/05/2005

Danny Adams will be in the short term the player to fill the boots of vacating left-back Rob Edwards.

Adams who joined on a short term contract recently following his shock release by League One bottom club Stockport County has signed a one year contract with Town.

The 29-year old has done enough to impress Galpharm boss Peter Jackson who has called his attitude "absolutely superb"

The play-off dream is over for the season as Brentford booked their place in them with a 2-1 victory at Wrexham, which sent the North Wales club down.

The Terriers needed Wrexham to at worst draw against Brentford to maintain Town's slender hopes of an inclusion but a 90th minute Bee's winner ended the Terriers hopes.

Despite this set-back Town remained focused for the last match of the season at Wrexham on Saturday and Peter Jackson remains positive and full of belief when he beams of the positives this season and his defiant "We'll be back".

The Terriers certainly will be back next season with a much wiser young squad than this season and a squad that is showing quality. The last eight matches have brought 7 victories and a draw, that has made Jackson's young side the form team in the division.

The recent excellent run as also taken Town from the verge of the relegation to zone, to the brink of the play-offs
-

Result: Huddersfield Town 4-0 Swindon Town

Pawell Abbott (2), Andy Booth and a late fourth from club captain (on his final Galpharm appearance for Town) Rob Edwards ensured that the play-off dream is still on for the Terriers as they made it an impressive 7 wins and 1 draw from the last 8 matches
