Tom Baker next to join Terriers? - Armband still for Worthington Reports suggest that Peter Jackson is interested in brining released Barnsley junior Tom Baker to the Galphram Stadium. Jackson who has added three fresh faces to the squad for next season is said to be targeting the 20-year old who is also been tracked by League Two club Bury. Baker who is to talk to both Town and Bury is set to keep his options open and make a fully informed decision before making a move following his release from the South Yorkshire club. The player has said that the Terriers have been in touch with his agent came through the ranks at Oakwell but was told by Tykes boss Andy Ritchie that he was not going to get a new contract. Terriers bring in two players! Peter Jackson has continued his summer arrivals, but within a day has more than certainly ended it. Today the Town boss brought in two new players to add to Gary Taylor-Fletcher. Town have brought in former Chesterfield midefielder Mark Hudson (24) and defender Martin McIntosh (34) who was the Rotherham United captain. Both bring a wealth of experience to the Terriers sqaud City game on SKY - other fixture changes There's been a further change to the Bradford City clash at Valley Parade. This will now take place on Monday October 10 with an evening kick-off and will be screened live on SKY Sports television. The home clash with Carling Cup first round opponents Chesterfield will now take place a day later on Tuesday April 18th and will now be an evening start. Due to international fixtures the home tie with Scunthorpe United on Saturday September 3rd will now be brought forward to Friday September 2nd and will again take place in the evening It's Chesterfield away in the Carling Cup first round Town have been drawn away to Chesterfield in the first round of the Carling Cup with the game likely to take place on Wednesday August 24 with a 19:45 kick-off time. It will be a quick return to Saltergate for new Town man Mark Hudson, and will also see a return to the ground for Town midfielder Chris Brandon and coach Martyn Booty - both former Chesterfield players. Town was the fourth name out of the Carling sponsored league cup, and although the date of the game is yet to be fully finalised it is more than likely to take place on August 24. Not quite the draw which many would have hoped for, but this season being a seeded side, it was unlikely Town was ever going to get the massive game of last season. On paper it should be a challenge for Town, who will face Chesterfield in League One next season also SummerSpecial round-up Lions Tour: The Lions destroyed Manawatu 109-6 as they ran in 17 tries to hammer the provincial side ahead of Saturday's second test with the All Blacks Cricket: England are playing Australia in a day night match in Birmingham to follow click here Big Brother: It's nominations due again today, but Maxwell and Anthony will not be able to vote as they were caught by Big Brother discussing nominations. Also new housemate Orlaith has made a massive impression on the males in the house, after leaving the Secret Garden with Eugene after Makosi decided to allow them into the main house and eject Kinga. Also the fall-out of Cider-Gate between Makosi and Saskia is still ongoing with the housemates taking their respective corners and taking their housemates with them. Diva United and Team Saskia are at loggerheads with one another as jibe after jibe is thrown at each other. But sinisterly enough the two Queens of the tribes have not said very much to one another, although the head of Diva United - Makosi has told her henchman Vanessa that she would like to see the back of Saskia. New girl Orlaith not only received the attentions of love-sick puppy Maxwell but has also had a massive compliment from Derek - although it was the Tory boy who caught Maxwell and Saskia in a compromising position, with Derek saying "We live in interesting times" |

2005/2006 League One fixtures released! Result: Australia 266-5 (50 overs) - England 209-9 (50 overs). Australia win by 57 runs There was joy at last for the visiting Australians, as Australia secured its first win in the Nat West International series by beating England at Durham's Riverside ground. It was the first time England has tasted defeat in this competition. It was disappointing stuff from England after they had checked the Australian innings after the tourist's threatened to pull away to a score in excess of 300. There was some tight bowling from England during the end of the Australian innings with Andrew Flintoff taking 2 wickets for 55 runs from his 10 overs. Set 267 runs to win by Australia, England was never in the hunt, as the fragile English batting reared its head again with England at one stage 7-3 and under the sword. There was some great opening bowling from Glenn McGarth (2 for 13, 7 overs) and the returning Brett Lee (2 for 20, 9 overs). Brett Hogg took two crucial wickets in England's middle order, as England threatened to fight back. Darren Gough (46 runs from 47 balls) added some late inspiration with the bat has he added to the English score to delight the packed North East ground. Gough shared in a last wicket stand with Steve Harmison of 50. England also reached a remarkable went it looked like they would get no where near 200 - and in doing so saw out all 50 overs. Gough's cameo and dashing performance also saw him top score with the bat for England just 4 runs short of what would have been a remarkable and fully deserved half-century. Andrew Symonds was the Australian hero with the bat with a fine knock of 73 from 81 balls as he put his indiscipline and suspension by the Australian management behind him. Symonds also picked up the key wicket of Kevin Pietersen as the England innings faltered. England still top the table with 17 points, Austrlia are now second with 7 points with Bangladesh third on 5 points. More to come later For the full scorecard click here What do you think? Summer of Cricket - Ashes 2005 Result: England 391-4 (50 overs) - Bangladesh 223 ao 45.2 overs. England win by 168 runs England has beaten Bangladesh by 168 runs, to make it three wins out of three England yet again excelled as they won their third match out of three in the Nat West series by hammering a spirited Bangladesh side. There was a near perfect performance from man of the match Paul Collingwood. The Durham all-rounder excelled with both bat and ball and became the first person to score a century with the bat and then grab 6 wickets. England secured it's record limited overs run total to set Bangladesh a daunting total. After winning the toss Michael Vaughan elected to bat first and they scored runs aplenty. Although there were some whirlwind performances from Javed Omar and Mohammed Ashraful, the Tigers were never in contention for victory. Both Andrew Strauss and Paul Collingwood made massive century's as England destroyed the Bangladesh bowling. The tigers who beat Australia on Saturday could not get anywhere near the England batters as the openers enjoyed in a opening stand of 141 runs. Marcus Trescothick (85 from 65 balls) helped Strauss (152 from 128 balls) - who recorded the second best score for an English man in limited overs cricket destroy any thoughts Bangladesh had of making England struggle with the bat. Despite loosing Michael Vaughan (0 from 9 balls) and Andrew Flintoff (17 from 21 balls) cheaply Collingwood (112 from 86 balls) stepped up to the crease to enjoy a 110 partnership with Strauss, before Strauss was out lbw on the second to last ball of the 50 overs. The Durham man hitting 10 fours and 5 sixes as this powerful England side once again showed their quality and entertaining value. Collingwood also scored the second fastest century for an English man, with his 100 coming off just 77 balls. And the English runs came without the requirement of hero Kevin Pietersen who did not get the chance to bat. And despite the Australian's saying they will contain him on Thursday he will be looking to express himself further against the Baggygreens when England play Australia at Durham's Riverside ground. Australian Mike Hussey will be looking to help guide his Australian colleagues to victory on his county ground - he is the Durham captain. Bangladesh put up a spirited fight with the bat despite the huge total required and went into their innings with confidence having beaten Australia during the weekend. Although they started brightly, they lost two wickets to debutant Chris Tremlett who was unlucky not to grab a hat-trick. Omar and Ashraful put on over 100 for the third wicket but once that partnership had gone, Bangladesh offered very little. And with the fine bowling of Collingwood (6 for 33) the Tigers had very little opportunity to near the 400 runs they need for victory falling 168 runs short. Spurred on by his 100 from his match against Australia Mohammed Ashraful almost grabbed another. He fell just 6 runs short of a sensational over, when he became the first of Collingwood's 6 victims with the ball. His 94 coming in 52 runs. Habibul Basher (16) and Mohammed Rafique (11 not out), gave the noisy Tigers fans something to hold onto and helped to give a little bit of substance to the visitors innings late on. Bangladeshi coach Dav Whatmore must be pleased with the application from his side who once again showed that they are a handful to play against and will improve as they play more and more international cricket For the full scorecard click here What do you think? Huddersfield Town Town receive Gain snub! Peter Gain as ended speculation over his future by agreeing to a move to League Two side Peterborough United. Town had been tracking the Lincoln City player, who has chosen to move to United instead of joining Town. Remember, the fixtures are out this Thursday. thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk will do its very best to get these fixtures on the site as soon as possible. - RESULT: Southland 16-26 Lions He may have been overlooked by Clive Woodward for the First Test with New Zealand, but Gavin Henson gave a good account of himself in the latest Lions victory and the only highlight in a drab performance. Henson score two tries in which the Lions struggled to overcome Southland in Invercargill as the Lions produced a below par performance to claim a 26-16 victory. Henson was the real only Lions highlight in a performance that was full of errors. Although none of the players that played against Southland on Tuesday will be in the side to face the All Blacks on Saturday the performance from Henson must really be making Woodward think about why he has omitted the back. Although the Lions started brightly, the home side came back into the contest as the Lions lost their balance and productive place. Once again the Lions backline was messy and unproductive. Southland also improved as the locals improve the volume, but Ronan O'Gara sealed the victory for the tourists with his fourth penalty kick What do you think? Email lions@thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk Visit the official Lions site Nominations revealed! Roberto and Derek will for the second week running face the public eviction on Friday. Having both been made safe with the removal of Sam last Friday both will face the public eviction once again. As the house begins to break up and Team Britney is disbanded by Craig's move over to the 'Cool Side' (is anything with Maxwell in it cool? Doubt it!), Vanessa is the final member of the Team Britney. The nominations come as a bit of a surprise following Maxwell's changing of the grocery order and the way Saskia is getting stalled of his constant flirting ways with her. With either Derek or Roberto leaving the house on Friday it will be the first male to be evicted from the Big Brother 2005 house. Derek the intelligent one in the house and Roberto a teacher who is obsessed with food and manners have been isolated from the rest of the idiots in the house having being found to have been discussing nominations last week - the reason they could not vote last week. Email bigbrother@thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk- Summer of Cricket - Ashes 2005 Match played Sunday June 19, 2005 Result: Australia 252-9, England 253-7 England win by 3 wickets (50 overs, Bristol) England continued their winning ways with a comfortable 3 wicket victory in the latest Nat West Series match with Australia. Australia who won the toss and elected to bat posted 252 for 9 from their 50 overs. Mike Hussey top scored with 84, whilst Steve Harmison took his first ever 5 wicket haul in limited over cricket with 5 for 33. England's response stuttered until the explosive Kevin Pietersen came to to the fore and hit 91 runs from just 65 balls including 4 sixes. He was well backed up by England captain Michael Vaughan who called Pietersen's innings "special". England got to their 253 total for the loss of 7 wickets with over 2 overs left. This was a quality performance again from England, who destroyed the Aussies like they did in the 20/20 match. England is a young, powerful side full of passion, competitive and full of winning mentality. But this is again just one win, and England will need to perpare itself for a much tougher encounter when the Ashes series start. If England remain unbeaten and have claimed the Ashes back after years of Australian domination then the England confidence can flow - but before then the cockiness need to be kept in check For the full scorecard click here What do you think? Big Brother 2005 Eggs to the rescue, as housemates set new task The housemates have been set their new task and it is perhaps one of the strangest tasks to be set by Big Brother in the UK ever. Although the house is full of feather-brained people, Big Brother has acted on this by setting the housemates a 'Chicken task'. Each housemate must take ownership of an egg each dressed in a bright yellow fluffy chicken suit. During a hot morning the housemates will not be allowed to drop or put their egg down and whichever housemates are successful will enjoy a barn-dance at midday - surely even this lot can manage to keep hold of their egg for a few hours! They have also had to endure a fitness session with their new found friend, although some are bewildered with the new task Science has told his egg that he will look after it. Makosi is already out of the task she dropped her egg and thus eliminated herself from the rest of the task. The egg smashing to ground. Makosi releasing her mistake after stumbling and dropping the egg burst into tears in the Diary Room - she was also told that she would not be enjoying the dance later on For more information from the big brother website, click on the BB eye above! What do you think? Email bigbrother@thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk The Lions continued their winning ways on the South Island but Otago who beat the tourist's in 1993 (and 4 times before that too) pushed the British and Irish Lions all the way but the Lions strength and power paid off in the end to prevent Otago recording another famous victory over the Lions. Tries from Will Greenwood, Ryan Jones and Shane Williams pushed the Lions to victory after Otago had gained the advantage early in the match. The Lions struggled during the first half in which they failed to impose themselves against a powerful and pumped-up home side. The Lions found themselves 6-0 early on through two Nick Evans penalties. It was the home side (who had been in camp for 10 days prior to the match) who started the more sharpest and quickly had the Lions on the back foot. But during the second half Clive Woodward's men improve and strolled to victory. This was an intense game for the Lions in which they had to be powerful and passionate to overcome the provincial side in a pulsating match. It was not an easy win for the Lions who were trailing for much of the first half but went in at half time level (13-13) but with plenty to think about. The aptly named "House of Pain" gave the Lions much to think about in a ferocious battle in which Otago were without their three New Zealand All Blacks players. But in the end of the power and quality of the Lions came out and they recorded another victory in a spirited display, as they prepare for the first test with the All Blacks next Saturday. If the first test is as testing and enthralling as this one, it will be a tremendous contest in Christchurch. The Lions have now conceded six tries during the tour and will be looking to strengthen the backline in time for the trip to Christchurch. The Lions face Southland at the Rugby Park Stadium, Invercargill on Tuesday for the final preparation game before the first test. Welshman Ryan Jones took the man of the match award and was thoroughly deserved this award having made a stunning Lions debut. Jones played his part in a massive team morale boosting victory. Charlie Hodgson also pushed himself up the mindset of Woodward kicking 15 points. Hodgson's inventiveness helped to create the first try just before half time for a much needed score. Hodgson was replaced by Irish kicker Ronan O'Gara late in the game and the Irish man almost set up two tries for the Lions. Woodward called Jones "outstanding" after the Welshman made a major impact on his Lions start. He was only called up to the Lions due to an injury to Scotland's Simon Taylor. But Jones who has called this opportunity a "dream come true" is certainly enhancing his credentials of a test start in the 45 man strong Lions squad. Jones who had a very good Six Nations campaign also took the plaudits from his fellow countryman Shane Williams, who was also on the scoresheet. Williams commented on how Jones was enjoying himself in the "House of Pain" which transgressed throughout the team. The strength of the Welsh born players has had Woodward who believes his Lions side is on the brink of something special saying that they are the "heart-throb" of the team Tries: Otago: Danny Lee (34 mins) ~ The next match on the Lions tour takes them to Dunedin to face Otago. The Lions will be looking to continue where they left off in Wellington with another win just a week ahead of the First Test with the All Blacks in Christchurch. The cricket/rugby stadium the Lions will be playing in Carisbrook is affectionately dubbed by the locals the "House of Pain" - but will the Lions who will be captained by Scotland's Gordon Bulloch feel the pain. Kick-off is 08:10 BST - you can get all the latest news and in-vision score from the official Lions site

Big Brother 2005 Sam is evicted! Marketing student Sam has become the third person to be evicted out of the Big Brother 2005 house. Despite been up against two males in Roberto and Derek with the latter desperately wanting to go home, Sam is the third female out of the house. She joins Mary and Lesley in being evicted from the house. The announcement was greeted with a scream of "I'm going home" from the evictee but Derek was in sombre mood saying "I wanted to go home". Earlier today, Derek told Big Brother in the Diary Room that he wanted to leave the house, whilst Maxwell changed the shopping list in the Diary Room to add cider to next week's shopping basket ~ It's eviction night tonight and Sam, Derek and Roberto are up for nomination. After the fun of the "speed dating" evening last night, the housemates will be brought down to earth as yet another housemate is sent packing. Although Sam is favourite to be evicted for her lack of pure involvement in the house many feel that Derek could also face the boot tonight. Makosi got to grips with two housemates during the speed dating evening with both Sam and Anthony getting snogs from the African flirt. Although it appears Anthony is the one who is favourite in her eyes. Kemal also got some 'attention' both from Roberto and Derek - the latter was very eccentric with the cross dressing fool. Meanwhile and despite their exploits during yesterday evening the interest of Maxwell towards Saskia seems to be going on cold hears as the chesty housemate finally wakes up to just what Maxwell is all about. During a eyebrow plucking session with Craig the dodgy Londoner got jealous and was called "obsessed" by a irritated looking Saskia. Just as her stay in the house could be terminated Sam as finally begun to come out of her shell, although it could all be a little too late. Although not blessed with an amazing singing voice - remember her singing to Roberto, Anthony, and Derek as they lay in their boxes. Sam is favourite to go tonight with odds of 1/9, Makosi is now the new favourite to win at 3/1 Sam, Derek and Roberto enjoyed a quality moment earlier today in the garden as the trio up for eviction reflected on their time in the house. Although Science still looks alittle stressed having received the first official warning following an incident with Kemal. The Leeds lad throw a glass of water over the face of the cross dressing idiot! Who goes - you decide, keep voting to evict the housemate you want to see leave the 2005 house - but remember only one can go tonight, shame that! That "Rumour Mill" keeps grinding away! Result: England 192-0, Bangladesh 190 all out. England win by 10 wickets (50 overs, Brit Oval) England continued their winning ways by comfortably beating Bangladesh in a routine win in Surrey. England opener Marcus Trescothick made 100 with the bat from just 76 balls, as England began the Nat West triangular series including Australia with a 10 wicket victory. England beat Bangladesh's total with over half of their 50 overs remaining after Steve Harmison and debutant Jon Lewis destroyed the Tigers batting line up. The two England openers had fun with the Tigers bowlers with Andrew Strauss making 82 off just 72 balls. For the bowlers Harmison took 4 for 39, Lewis 3 for 32 and Darren Gough 2 for 33. The overcast conditions did not help the touring Bangladeshi's who struggled during their batting which was interrupted by three breaks due to rain. The England bowling was very hostile also was the visitors at one point 76 for 6. But an unbeaten 51 from Aftab Ahmed, which included 2 sixes from just 58 balls, helped the Tigers to a respectable score For the full scorecard click here What do you think? Read how we brought the news of Town signing Fletch and other player exit rumours! RESULT: Wellington Lions 6-23 British Lions The British and Irish Lions bounced back to winning ways following the Maori defeat by beating Wellington 23-6 following a much improved first period. Gethin Jenkins and Gareth Thomas both crossed the try line for the Lions who saw returnee Jonny Wilkinson kick 13 points on a wet drab Wellington evening. The Thomas try coming on the Wales captain's Lions debut. After dominating the first period in which Jonny Wilkinson who kicked 2 conversions and 3 penalties opened the scoring after just 8 minutes. As the Lions dominated the Lions doubled the lead with a second Wilkinson penalty but minutes later the lead was halved with a Jimmy Gopperth penalty. Neil Back and Gethin Jenkins both inspired the Lions, as the roaring Lions continued to dominate Jenkins crossed the try line and Wilkinson was again on the mark converting the try. There was a nice break by Dwayne Peel who ran well leading to the Jenkins try. With time running out Gopperth added the second penalty just before half time, which proved to be the final score from the home side. After a much improved forward play in the first half, the backs were still getting stretched by an inventive Wellington outfit, but missed a number of opportunities to extend the 13-6 half time lead. After an impressive first half the second was less distinctive and the Lions added 10 unanswered points. The Lions seem to lose their way despite Wilkinson kicking his 3rd penalty of the match on 44 minutes. No matter how hard the Lions pushed, Wellington attempted to push further forward and the Lions had to be strong in defence. As wet conditions continued to pile up the handling errors, Wilkinson's penalty attempt went just wide, moments before Josh Lewsey required treatment for a leg injury. Despite all the positive tries from Lions they had to wait until the 77th minute to finally record their second try through Gareth Thomas, who sealed the Lions victory and Wilkinson added the conversion points. In the closing minutes the Lions attempted to pour forward but time ran out before they could record a further score. The Wellington coach John Plumtree dismissed the talents of the 2005 Lions by commenting "The All Blacks would have put 50 or 60 points on us". The British & Irish Lions captain was pleased with his side's victory and improvement which were echoed by Wellington's All Blacks centre who said the Lions were "impressive" as he highlighted the threat of Jonny Wilkinson for the Lions keeping the home side on the back foot throughout the contest. Needless to say the next time the Lions visit the West Pac Stadium - known as the 'Cake Tin', they will need to improve, as they will be facing the All Blacks in the second test match. But this performance was much better from the Lions and far more encouraging just over a week from the first test with New Zealand in Christchurch The 'leader' of the Barmy Army tour in New Zealand with the British and Irish Lions is promising to rouse the NZ fans into a signing contest ahead of the first test next Saturday. Freddie Parker who is with the Lions on their first New Zealand tour in 12 years comments "There's going to be two battles - one's on the pitch the other's with the fans ... I can't see the Kiwis challenging us". The Barmy Army franchise is now well into international rugby, having had it's roots started in cricket before moving into football. Parker is hoping the locals "come out of their shell" as the barmy army promises a plethora of songs and plenty of banter and try to stir the passion of the locals. With anything up to 25,000 Lions supporters planned to invade NZ, the authority estimate the figure though to be a more conservative 15,000-20,000 the test matches with NZ promise to be a noisy encounter. Although NZ crowds are usually virtually silent the passion of the barmy army is sure to embrace their vocal chords. Wherever the barmy army goes, in whatever sport, you are always promised one thing - a crescendo of singing And you can be sure of another thing, in the Legends bar in Christchurch the barmy army Lions supporters from the four proud corners of the British Isles and Ireland will be packed getting primed and ready for the conquest of the first test! For more information on the Lions tour, visit http://www.lions-tour.com/index.asp and remember to check out the official site Visit the barmy army special NZ tour 2005 page http://www.barmyarmytravel.com/rugby/default.asp The Lions anthem, penned by head coach Sir Clive Woodward aimed at combating the All Blacks 'Haka' is called "The Power of Four". The Power of Four was composed by Neil Myers and was first used as the Lions anthem for the Cardiff match with Argentina before the Lions left for New Zealand on May 23. The Power of Four lyrics "From the four corners of our lands We're united, hand in hand Together We're stronger We join and proud we stand Now the day has come, we are one Standing tall for our Lions call We're stronger Together We are the power of four" The Lions will use the anthem before the start of the match and will be used in match preparation in conjunction with the New Zealand national anthem Whether it will get the appeal of "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot" is yet to be seen but the Lions ssays that they have has "a lot of positive feedback" and could be available in the future to download from the official Lions website. There are no plans to release the anthem as a single at the moment Visit the official Lions site Summer Special Big Brother 2005Having made 8 fails on their latest task for food the housemates have already failed the 'pirate's' task and will have only £60 for shopping next week - they learnt their fate through a message in the bottle given to the housemates by Big Brother. In total these intellectual housemates incurred over 25 individual and group fails and they once again performed miserably at a task. Something as simple as keeping a hat on they could not do - next time BB give them all a gag to wear! And remember although they made 28 mistakes, they were only allowed a maximum of 2 a day. They performed as poorly on the Pirate Task, as they did with the hospital task. After Roberto's 'nomination plotting' Roberto has been blanked (lucky him!) by Saskia, Anthony and Maxwell after Roberto was caught on camera revealing that he has linked onto the game Saskia is clearly playing. Roberto tried to apologise to Maxwell who was angry with what he saw Roberto, Derek and Craig discussing, but the Londoner was having none of it. Stead joins Blackcats Former Huddersfield Town striker Jon Stead has finally made his expected move to Sunderland for £1.8 million. That means that the Terriers will receive 17.5% of the profit made by Blackburn Rovers
Result: England 179-8, Australia 79 all out. England win by 100 runs (20/20, Hampshire) England began a summer of scintillating cricket against Australia by sealing an impressive 100 runs victory over Australia at The Rose Bowl. England batted, bowled and fielded with confidence and recovered from 110-5 with the bat to post a massively imposing 179-8. Paul Collingwood (46 from 26 balls), Marcus Trescothick (41 from 37) and Kevin Pietersen (34 from 18) were the three major run makers in the England innings. Having scored the highest ever ground total for a 20/20 match. England then began the assault on the Australian batsmen. England started off magnificently with the ball as Darren Gough took two wickets in two balls in the third over, and that was after Andrew Strauss had dropped Australian opener Adam Gilchrist in the first over. In his first international match Jon Lewis came to the fore with quality bowling, as he took two Australian wickets in his second over. With Australia reduced to 37 for 6 in the 6th over it needed bowlers Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie to try an salvage the match. Lee went for 15 in the 13th over, after Gillespie went for 24 in the 11th and in the middle of the 14th over Australia were all out for just 79 runs. Collingwood who had excelled with the bat took both Gillespie and Lee's wickets to finish off a perfect day for the Durham star. So England begin their summer of cricket hostilities with Australia by handing the baggygreens a thrashing, and when they needed big partnerships they got just that. With the bat when they struggled the middle order excelled, and when they needed the start Gough and Lewis did perhaps even better For the full scorecard click here Summer Special Big Brother 2005For the latest news, photos and video streams from the 2005 Big Brother house click on the BB eye to take you to the official BB home on the Internet For more information from the big brother website, click on the BB eye above! |

Clarke plays for England under-18's Young Town central defender Tom Clarke, continued to enhance his reputation by being the only player outside of England's top two divisions to play against Norway on Friday night Summer Special Big Brother 2005Lesley evicted! Huddersfield based Lesley the bookies favourites to be evicted became the second person to be booted out of the Big Brother house. As tensions flared after a week of unprecedented back-biting and ill-feeling, Lesely felt the boot of the public vote mainly due to her foul mouth and temper. After failing the weekly task, the housemates will have only £77 to spend on food, as Derek looked on in disappointment when Lesley was announced as the second person to leave. Sam must have been delighted that her nemesis was leaving, although Craig looked weary and will become even further isolated from the so-called in crowd. Ironically for the busty "say my mind" Yorkshire lass, it was Vanessa chat with her about nominations that ultimately got her evicted. Vanessa chatted with Lesely that she was going to nominate Sam and if there had not been that chat Lesley who said that she was "not surprised to have been voted out" would have remained in the house. Derek and Sam would have been the one's nominated for the public eviction. The eviction of Lesley as echoes of Mary's eviction in week 1. Mary was put up for nomination alongside Craig by Maoski due to the African contestant winning her task. If it had not been for that, Mary would not have been up for the public nomination. There as been a further visit to A and E for a housemate, following in Saski's footsteps was Vanessa who has also sprained her foot - pity not a few of them can't sprain their tongue or loose their voice - step up Maxwell! Maxwell however is now the favourite to win Big Brother at 2/1, former favourite Saskia as dropped away alarmingly. The latest task in the house, sees housemate's living a life in the box for food For more information from the big brother website, click on the BB eye above!
Australia defeat PCA in preparation for England The Baggygreens got off to a winning start with a 20/20 victory over PCA. As they prepare for the challenge of England on Monday. England also warmed up to the international match with victory over a Hampshire 11 side. Darren Gough inspired England in the field as the Hampshire side was all out of just 85 runs. England earlier had set the hosts a target of 239, after Strauss (85) and Pietersen (77) had helped England to 238 all out English Cricket's site RESULT: NZ Maroi 19-13 British Lions Lions head coach Sir Clive Woodward has said "judge us on the tests" after the Lions suffered their first 2005 tour defeat to a strong and powerful New Zealand Maroi side. Although this is just another 'warm-up' match, yet again errors were too apparent in the Lions play and the strong host team capitalised on them. The Lions spent much of the contest thinking of ways to prevent the Maroi side from crossing the try line and a late Brian O'Driscoll try was not enough after the Maroi had sent a rocket up the Lions for the entire second period. This was a justifiable victory for the Mario's in a match dubbed the 'unofficial fourth test', and was a first defeat for the Lions since 1930 (some 7 matches). It was relentless pressure from the home side, that not even the heaviest front row in Lions history could do anything about, as the Maroi side just pounded the Lions. Josh Lewsey had yet another impressive game, although he showed little going forward. The Lions had actually opened the scoring with a Stephen Jones penalty, but by half time it was all-square at 6 points each Jason Robinson and Jonny Wilkinson will star for the Lions against Wellington |

THIS SUMMER ON THISISTHEBARMYARMY.CO.UK - The Pontins League as had a re-format. The Town reserves, who enjoyed promotion last season will play in the Division One Central. The winners will receive a cash bonus for the first time ever. £2,000 will be awarded for the league winners. An additional £1,500 could be won as the winners and runner-ups of the Central, East and West divisions all take part in the end of season play-off. Most of the games should also kick-off in the evening. The club as assured supporters that all home games will take place at the Galpharm and at least four of these matches will be played in the evening. Sheffield United will field two teams in the competition, as Town will face Sheffield United One. The Terriers will also face fellow Yorkshire clubs Barnsley, Bradford, Rotherham and Sheffield Wednesday in what promises to be an entertaining league - the season beginning week beginning August 15 - - SummerSpecial Lions British and Irish Lions Tour of New Zealand, 2005 RESULT: Taranki 14-36 British Lions England kicker Charlie Hodgson inspired the Lions to a 36-14 victory over Taranaki, following a testing encounter in New Plymouth. Hodgson claimed 16 points from his boot, as the Lions overcame a stern test. The Lions strength and stamina showed again as Irish wing back Geordan Murphy ran in two tries in the final 10 minutes (having been 7 points to 6 down at half time) - he also had a score disallowed in the 10th minute, the Lions guilty of a forward pass. The Lions will need to get smarter in the passing game, as a loose pass led to Taranaki's first and opening try. But tries from captain Martin Corry, wing Shane Horgan added to the final 2 from Murphy. The second Taranaki try came as the Lions tired in injury time. Young Scotland ace scrum-half Chris Cusiter enhanced his glowing reputation with a fine display and has come a long way from his international debut for Scotland against Wales in February 2004. Next game is against New Zealand Maori at the Waikato Stadium, Hamilton - this Saturday with a 08:10 (BST) kick-off time - Summer Special AshesSummer of Cricket - Ashes 2005 Australia prepare for challenge against "tougher" England "England tougher" that is the claim of Bangladesh's International captain Habibul Bashar. As the Australians landed in London, England were claiming the second test victory over the test minnows at the Riverside in Durham. England who is in top form to face the Australian's this summer, are still underdogs as the Baggygreens expect to be victorious. Perhaps the fact that England are said to be "more professional" these days will only make the Aussies up their limit and make any potential victory the more sweeter. Australia will be hoping to "open up old wounds" early on when they tackle England in the 2005 Ashes, with captain Ricky Pointing urging his players to win every game in the series. Australia are set to go into the classroom to do their homework to prepare for the challenge of the improving English side. Australia and England will warm up to the Ashes test match series with the NatWest Challenge games. Australia open their tour with a 20/20 match with the Professional Cricketers' Association Masters who have included England hopefuls Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood and Chris Tremlett in their side. They also have former England players Devon Malcolm, Chris Lewis and Mark Ealham in their squad. Australian Matthew Hayden (who is looking for an improved tour) - perhaps playing some mind games - believes that England is "better equipped... don't carry the losing mentally" they have previously had. But he believes that the strength of the Australian top order will prove too strong for England, and former Australian test player Darren Lehmann cannot see England bowling Australian out twice |

Those Were The Days - another article from our feature writer on past memories of Town - Marcus Stewart has joined League One rivals Bristol City. Stewart is running home to Bristol, having left City's local rivals Bristol Rovers to join the Terriers following their play-off success in 1995. Town manager Peter Jackson has revealed that he gave Stewart a courtesy call but the former Town favourite expressed that he wanted to go play for the club he supported as a boy, and go back to his home city club. The fact that Jackson made an enquiry shows that Jackson is prepared to bring in faces to the Galpharm and that one of those will be in the forward line - SummerSpecial Lions British and Irish Lions Tour of New Zealand, 2005 Corry to captain Lions in latest warm up match England's Martin Corry will captain the British and Irish Lions in their next warm up match Wednesday. The Lions face Taranaki in New Plymouth. Injured Lawrence Dallaglio is tipping the Lions to beat the All Blacks in the best of three tests despite him leaving New Zealand due to injury. The Lions have only ever won once in New Zealand in history back in 1971. Last time in NZ (1993) they lost 2 tests to 1. The Lions beat Taranaki in June 1993 49-25, as the Lions bounced back from a first test defeat - No nominations this week! All housemates will be up for the public eviction this Friday following a break of the rules by Vanessa. Vanessa had revealed one of her revelations to fellow housemate Lesley. Although able to see diary room moments as she is currently Big Brother - Saksia launched into Lesely calling her "two faced" and "immature". The Vanessa indiscretion came following a slanging match between Vanessa, Lesley and Sam and Vanessa let slip that she has voted for Sam - as she does not like her Now where did that make-up bag go? - answers on a postcard! ~ Kemal and Roberto trade insults, Sam cries in diary room, and house gets new task! Tensions in the house surface again as Kemal and Roberto engage in a abuse filled stand-off with Roberto questioning the respect Kemal as for his parents. Kemal responding with "what as it got to do with you?" As the housemates looked on this engagement continued into dinner and then between the pair in the loft. Kemal clearly told Roberto that he will not get him to rise to his baiting, something which Roberto is not happy about ~ Odds for Saskia to win Big Brother 2005 have been slashed to 4/1 as she is now 1/1 favourite female. The guy she is affectionate for Maxwell is the favourite male at 5/2 and is 5/1 favourite to win the prize money ~ Roberto's popularity in the house is diminishing just as much as the sanity in the 2005 House as Maxwell questions Roberto's "stallioniness" as he states to Big Brother that he would give half of his winnings to him to improve his "size" ~ Saskia won the counting task giving her the chance to be Big Brother and pose questions to one housemate. The one housemate she choose was Maxwell. Maxwell answered the questions just as Saksia wanted. Clearly this is a relationship that is going to grow. In the bedroom there appeared to be some 'activity' between Anthony and Makois and Lesley and Vanessa! And yes Vanessa finally opens her mouth to something at least - but the thought of Lesley's tongue - I think she should have kept it closed! ~ Kemal made the latest food for dinner, which yet again prompted the housemates into arguments over the size of the portions. Roberto complained that he had no meat in his meal, although he declined to have some of Anthony's chicken when the North East housemate offered him some! Although the sexuality of Anthony is been questioned by other housemates ~ Derek is still unhappy with the way Sam hit him with a water-bomb when the political writer was trying to sleep. Sam herself was in tears as she threatened to leave. Sam who is not hitting it off with any of the housemates and is becoming more and more isolated, had her make-up bag hidden and despite taunts from Lesley, the 23-year old stormed into the diary room in attempt to get Big Brother to return the bag! Maybe the silly little girl needs to remember her so called prank on Derek before crying when someone plays a prank on her ~ The latest task for the housemates is a hospital task. The housemates are going to be placed into medical roles with the correct uniforms supplied. The housemates were woken up just after 8:00. Sam has a broken leg (pity it is not her tongue!), Roberto is the Matron whilst Science and Vanessa are nurses. The hospital task is simple - well it needs to be for the simpletons in the house. If an emergency siren goes off within one minute there must be a patient in the diary room and two nurses waiting outside to treat the patient - but this could happen at any time of day. Craig got the menial task of playing a pregnant person - although his stomach cramps maybe more real than make belief with the nauseating behaviour of some in the house If the housemates are successful they will gain luxury food ~ If the housemates are not already performing unnecessary actions the two 'lads' again proved to go that one stage further. Both Anthony and Maxwell decided to east OXO cubes! They have already performed a 'who can wee the quickest' race. Joining in with the cube eating challenge was Saskia and Kemal - with the cross dressing idiot suggesting a future challenge is dog food eating |

Italian stallion Roberto is finally beginning to gain popularity with Huddersfield born Lesley, whilst Big Brother is intervening when tension rises by placing Science into the loft to "cool off". Saksia is also gaining male attention, as Maxwell flirts with her, whilst passionate Sam is missing more clothes, as the clothes thief continues. Meanwhile first evictee Mary will be returning to Channel 4 as she appears on today's Big Brother Little Brother - England warm up to Ashes 2005 with victory over Bangladesh England has taken a clean sweep of test match victories over Bangladesh. Summer Special LionsBritish and Irish Lions Tour of New Zealand, 2005 Result: Bay of Plenty 20-34 British Lions The Lions tour of New Zealand got off to a 34-20 winning start but at a cost. Although the Lions beat the Bay of Plenty side, vice captain Lawrence Dallaglio. The English man has injured his ankle following a sliding tackle on 20 minutes and will take no further part in the tour. The Lions took a 17 points to nil lead but the Plenty side gained composure during the first half and went in level at half time. But the Lions ability shone through in the end with a terrific finish that saw them score 17 second half points at a cost of just 3 to win the match 34-20. Dallaglio will be replaced by Irish man Simon Easterby as the vice-captain suffers a similar fate to that suffered during the 2001 tour to Australia - SummerSpecial Big Brother 2005 Mary evicted! On Friday evening, Mary became the first person to be evicted from the 2005 Big Brother house. With only one nomination, Mary was put up for eviction by Makosi. The 31-year old from London was naturally surprised when she saw how she was nominated after Makosi was friendly with the white witch throughout her 7 day stay in the Big Brother House - |

Stead who was tracked by Blackcats boss Mick McCarthy before the 8-capped England Under-21 player joined Blackburn for £1.25 million in February 2004. Having helped to maintain Rovers Premiership status, Stead has fallen out with Rovers new manager Mark Hughes. Any profit made on Stead's move would net the Terriers 17.5%. Blackburn have confirmed that 2 "unnamed" clubs have met the asking price for the Huddersfield born striker Former Town favourite Marcus Stewart who was released by Sunderland is set to join League One rivals Bristol City. Stewart is set to take a 50% reduction in wage reportedly around £6,000 per week to join the Ashton Gate club Admiral sponsorship continues for extra season Next season's strips will still be Admiral sponsored and produced as the Terriers have entered an agreement with Admiral to supply the kits for the 2005/2006 season. With 30,000 retails sales over the past 6 months alone, the Terriers will be hoping to increase on this with the supply of the new kit for next season Town say goodbye to Prime Time main sponsorship Town has parted company with main club sponsor Prime Time Recruitment, and as such CEO Andrew Watson is currently on the look out for a new main sponsor. Town will re-design the famous blue and white stripped shirt for the start of next season, and although talks appear to be "sensitive" Watson has promised that the talks will reach a conclusion quickly. It appears that it was Prime Time that pulled out of the deal, but the recruitment firm will continue to have a showing at 16 football grounds up and down the country. Prime Time's managing director who is a Town fan and helped Town through Administration and the dark days, is "sad" to end his sponsorship of Huddersfield Town Play-off results, shows thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk predicts well!
