Yesterday's attendance of 11,250 which was nearly 11,000 Town fans in total took the aggregate home attendance's at the McAlpine to over 200,000.
It was the 20th league match of the season and takes the average to a credible 10,036 - second only behind Hull City. The highest attendance is still the one against Hull City 13,893 turned up to see Town defeat the Tigers in October
-
A Swansea City Internet site, jackarmy.net as said that the scoreline did not flatter Town and their team was second best in every department. The site goes onto say " The final whistle was not far away to put the Swans fans out of their misery and give Huddersfield one of the most deserved three points of the season"
-
Manger Peter Jackson's theory before the match with Swansea City that 6 wins (they have already claimed 1 of those) which would put Town on a total of 84 points would be enough to put Town looks good according to the latest prediction table. The prediction table on this site puts Town in third place with 85 points, which means that the Terriers must secure at least 19 points - so things do look like The Town Are Going Up!

Last Match: Huddersfield Town 3-0 Swansea City (result)
Three second half goals have taken Town back into the promotion zone has Danny Schofield's double and a late stunning strike from defender Anthony Lloyd sealed the victory at the McAlpine Stadium for Peter Jackson's side. With eight games left to play Town are on course for promotion and Darlington did the Terriers a favour by drawing with Torquay United at the Reynolds Arena.
The Terriers worked hard against the Welsh side and went in on top at half-time but level terms. Both strikers (Pawell Abbott and Andy Booth) and goal scorer Danny Schofield had chances to open the scoring in the first 45 minutes but failed to register on the scoresheet.
The visitors with their off-field problems struggled and looked very poor indeed, although at just 1-0 (10minutes after the restart) always gave them hope. But those hopes were dashed with the late show from Schofield and left wingback Anthony Lloyd who sealed the 3-0 win following a delightful right foot chip (from the edge of the penalty area) following a quick a break-away involving Andy Booth (who worked yet again hard) and Danny Schofield.
Schofield's first goal came from a Tony Carss freekick after a fine flick on by the ever hardworking Andy Booth, his second to give the Terriers total domination saw him delicately rounding Swans keeper Roger Freestone.
Town are pumped up and Town are preparing the champagne. The feel good factor is back in the club and manager Peter Jackson's attitude and charisma and love of the club is helping take Town to glory.
Town entertained the lively and vocal home support late in the game and it is results and performances like this that can be the difference between promotion or missing out. Town totally dominated the game having 8 corners and 6 shots on target and restricting the visitors to just a single strike on target and two corners, the Terriers also had no cautions which will have delighted an ecstatic Town manager Peter Jackson.
Peter Jackson said it was a terrific performance from the Town, and was delighted with the patience of the Town players who prevented the visitors from ever looking like scoring and that Town should have been well in front at half time.
Jackson felt more comfortable when Town got the goal and commended the excellent display of the defence and the excellently taken goals. Jackson "believes" his side can gain promotion and that the players believe in this and it is showing on the pitch with performances like the one this afternoon.
Jackson who was struggling with a cold said "This is the prefect tonic" has Jackson's Huddersfield Town are on course for promotion.
For Swansea this latest defeat for them, almost puts their play-off dreams to the sword as the scoreline was fair and revealed Town's superiority and dominance in this game, and with nearly 11,000 Town fans in an attendance of 11,250 the people in the boardroom of Town can clearly see the success on the field is getting the support from the supporters.
And if winning was not enough, Peter Jackson enriched the party atmosphere at the McAlpine Stadium, by giving a late substitution appearance to popular striker Iffy Onoura, who rejoined the club on transfer deadline day

Team News: Huddersfield Town v Swansea City

Peter Jackson names as expected the same side that started the match at Northampton Town last Saturday, as the Terriers look to push on for that automatic promotion place.
That means that Town start with Rachubka in goal a defence of captain Sodje, Mirfin, and Yates, with Lloyd and Holdsworth playing as wing-backs. A Midfield of Worthington, Carss, Schofield, whilst messers Booth and Abbott are once again the forward pairing for Town.
On the bench transfer day signing Iffy Onoura is joined by fellow recent signing midfielder Gary Harkins. Joining the new boys on the bench is 'keeper Phil Senior, Paul Scott and John McAliskey, that means no place for club captain Rob Edwards, has Jackson names an attack orientated bench.
For the visitors who are looking to complete a 'double' over Town this season, they make the expected wholesale changes to their side with 17-year old goalkeeper Ryan Harrison named on the bench. Kristain O'Leary starts after recovering from injury, with recent signings Lee Fieldwick and Leyton Maxwell on the bench. Swansea are without prolific goalscorer Lee Trundle (although striker Karl Connolly could pose a useful tool from the bench), and it looks a case of mission impossible for the Welsh side, to face a Town side that is clearly pumped up to claim another victory and a crowd equally as delighted to cheer them onto that.
It's welcome back big Iffy to Huddersfield; let's hope it's welcome back to a home win and the full three points

Huddersfield Town: Paul Rachubka, Efetobore Sodje (c), Steve Yates, David Mirfin, Anthony Lloyd, Anthony Carss, Jonathan Worthington, Danny Schofield, Andy Holdsworth, Pawel Abbott, Andy Booth. Subs: Phillip Senior [gk], Iffy Onuora, Gary Harkins, John McAliskey, Paul Scott

Swansea City: Roger Freestone, Jonathon Coates, Stuart Jones, Alan Tate, Shaun Byrne, Kristian O'Leary, Leon Britton, Roberto Martinez (c), Stuart Roberts, Paul Connor, Andy Robinson. Subs: Ryan Harrison [gk], James Thomas, Karl Connolly, Leyton Maxwell, Lee Fieldwick

Peter Jackson is under no illusions of how difficult the remaining 9 games will be. Jackson feels that six victories (18 points) will seal promotion and he is hoping that a big crowd today at the McAlpine and secure the first of the six wins and give great Huddersfield welcomes to former player Iffy Onoura and young loan man Gary Harkins
-
Both Peter Jackson and Iffy Onoura are excited that Iffy is back at Huddersfield Town. Jackson said "It's great to have Iffy back". Jackson pointed to the Scots pace and strength as a major bonus for Town, but many Town fans will also be able to recall Onoura's delightful passion for the club and football and his amazing motivational and lifting qualities.
Onoura said that although he is slower he is older and wiser than the last time he was with the club during the Leeds Road days. Town fans who loved Onoura's commitment and the fact that he gives 100% every time and he too is delighted to be back at Huddersfield
Onoura still reveals vividly the pain of the failed play-off attempt in 1992, when the Terriers were beaten at Leeds Road and he is set to put that record straight has he embarks on his fifth debut of the season.
Onoura said that he would have signed for no other club in the third division saying "promotion is the aim" has he became Peter Jackson's 15th signing since joining the club last July. Onoura pointed to the special fans at the club as a reason for making a return and said of Jackson "the manager was a big influence and I am really looking forward to playing for Town again".
Iffy and Jackson are big friends and the name 'Onoura' will be on the back of the number 14 shirt (the shirt formerly worn by John Thorrington) and will take the place of Jon Newby on the Town bench for this afternoon's visit of Swansea City.
Wonder if the former chant for Iffy will be used by Town fans in the McAlpine Stadium like it was used in the Cowshed End of the famous Leeds Road ground "Oh ah On'u'ra say Oh ah On'u'ra"

Match Preview: Huddersfield Town v Swansea City
Peter Jackson has said that every game now until the end of the season is the biggest of the season and that starts with the visit of Alan Curtis' Swansea City to the McAlpine Stadium this Saturday.
Jackson has been busy in the transfer market this week following a free week due to the abandoned game at Northampton Town last Saturday and Jackson will be looking for a victory to take Town back into the automatic promotion zone.
Town are set to start with the same team that started at Northampton Town, with Jackson unable to select Nathan Clarke, Lee Fowler, Ian Gray all ruled out for the season through injury.
Jackson has to make a change on the bench following the departure of striker Jon Newby - onloan to York City. That means the return of popular striker 36-year Iffy Onoura will start from the bench but there is unlikely to be a place on the bench for onloan midfielder Gary Harkins with Paul Scott likely to be passed fit.
Town will also be looking to revenge the 2-0 victory at the Vetch Field where Town were reduced to 9 men. Jackson has also said that with 4 of the 9 remaining games at the McAlpine Stadium, it is "vitally important" that Town secure all 12 points from the remaining 12 points available at home, starting with a revenge victory over Welsh side Swansea City.
Since taking over has caretaker manager of Swansea Alan Curtis has been ringing the changes in the playing personnel of the Swans. Curtis will be without Richard Jones and James Thomas who are both injured, but has swelled his squad like Jackson by making a triple swoop on transfer deadline day.
Defenders Lee Fieldwick and Matt Rees and midfielder Leyton Maxwell have all joined City and expected to start against Town. Kristian O'Leary could also feature in the game having returned from injury in the midweek draw with Mansfield Town.
After been in the promotion places for much of the season Swansea have slipped away alarmingly in recent weeks and are well out of the play-off places in 9th position, although many believe they still have the quality to get into the play-off zone if they can reorganise following the recent shock sacking of their manager Bryan Flynn.
Curtis will also missing top goalscorer Lee Trundle, and will also have to make do without Kevin Nugent, Izzy Iriekpen, Michael Howard and Brian Murphy.
Recent games for Swansea City have proved to be fruitful for Curtis' men. They won 4-2 last week at home to Scunthorpe United, but have still only taken 5 points from a possible 12 in the last 4 matches. City are currently fourth in the form league table with Town sitting in second place.
Town are also hoping to attract a bumper five figure crowd with some estimating it at around 13,000 to welcome the highly popular Iffy Onoura back to the McAlpine Stadium and to back the Terriers on their final push to gain an automatic place
-
Premier League manager Harry Redknapp has admitted that he is gutted to have missed out on signing former Town striker Jon Stead. The Portsmouth manager has stated that he could not afford the possible risk of an unknown quantity at the top level, although Redknapp is full of praise for young Stead

25/03/2004 - go to top

Former Town striker Iffy Onoura has returned to the McAlpine Stadium until the end of the season. The popular Scot returns to the club he spent 5 years with, and played in the same Town side has manager Peter Jackson. Onoura signed just before the 17:00hours deadline could feature at the weekend after signing from Tranmere Rovers.
That signing led to Jon Newby going to York City on a month's loan deal. Jackson is delighted to finally captured Iffy and Jackson stressed that Newby is still in his long term plans but wants the striker who is struggling for goals at Town to find the net for Yorkshire neighbours York City.
Iffy made 149 appearances and a further 62 from the bench for the Terriers during a successful period between 1988-1994, before he left Town for Mansfield Town (a deal which saw Kevin Gray come to Huddersfield). Iffy scored 40 goals during that time and will be looking to add some more to that tally and take Town to promotion. Jackson wanted the Glasweigan before joining Tranmere Rovers, but Iffy only made a single start for Tranmere and Jackson was surprised when Brian Little gave him permission to talk to Onoura
-
Manager Peter Jackson has continued his plans for the playing future of the Terriers by giving contracts to three Academy players. Striker John McAliskey, midfield man Joe Walsh and defender Jon McCombe have all been given long term contracts

Head to Head: Huddersfield Town v Swansea City
The Terriers versus The Swans has taken place 44 times during history (excluding the 1994 Autoglass Final at Wembley) with Town winning 18 matches and Swansea City 13 matches, there as also been 13 draws. The match at Wembley which saw nearly 30,000 from Town visit the Twin Towers equalised in the second half (1-1) only for the Terriers to lose out on penalties.
Town visited The Vetch this season and lost 2-0. At that time Town were struggling to adjust to life in the third division in 17th place whilst the Welshmen were riding high on top of the division. Goals by Lee Trundle and Kevin Nugent secured the points for Bryan Flynn's side against a Town side that were reduced to nine men with two red cards. Since then, Town's form has improved and they will go on mission revenue against The Swans who have just parted company with the popular Bryan Flynn.
Town have also met Swansea in the FA Cup once, when Swansea secured a home victory 1-0 in 1965. Down the years Town have outscored City scoring 66 goals to Swans 55. The biggest win for Town 4-0 in December 1964 just months before Swansea put the Terriers out of the FA Cup.
The last match at the McAlpine Stadium Town secured a excellent 2-0 victory during the promotion season on 1994/1995, the last points for Swansea at Huddersfield was a 1-1 draw the season earlier. The Welshmen last won at Huddersfield, at Leeds Road in January 1991 when they secured a 2-1 victory.
Peter Jackson will be aiming to secure another three points on the promotion trail. Town dropped out of the automatic promotion zone last weekend when Torquay United replaced them in 3rd place. Jackson will be looking for the kind of form that destroyed Macclesfield Town only three weeks ago, whilst Swansea City grabbed a valuable point at Mansfield Town on Tuesday night

Peter Jackson is on the verge of securing a second midfield signature for the week with veteran and well travelled Lenny Johnrose expected to sign until the end of the season. Johnrose who has become the first player to leave Swansea City following the departure of manager Brian Flynn is expected to choose Town's promotion push ahead of Macclesfield Town's relegation fight.
34 year old Johnrose who is popular with Swansea supporters and played for Town in Swansea's 2-0 victory over Town could go straight into the side to face City this Saturday.
Jackson said of the former Bury and Burnley utility midfielder, who incidentally scored the two goals against Hull City on the last day of last season to keep Swansea in the football league "He is an experienced midfield player and his experience will be a big bonus should things go according to plan, he will be here to the end of the season and may go straight in against Swansea this Saturday" - Jackson was speaking to the official htafc.com internet site.
Peter Jackson was left disappointed has Lenny Johnrose has joined his former club Burnley in an eleventh hour deal

The big Yorkshire Derby match on Saturday April 24 at the KC Stadium between Hull City and Town will be all ticket for all supporters, with Hull confident of attracting the highest gate of the season in the division and attracting close to 25,000 for the match.

Reserves: Last Match: Huddersfield Town 2-3 Stoke City (result)
John Dungworth's Town reserves failed in their attempts to secure three points this afternoon as they lost out in a five goal thriller to Stoke City. Town who lost the match 2-3 are left near the foot of the table whilst City are in second place in the Pontins Premier League
Town were denied an unlikely point in the game after fighting back from 2-0 down. City opened the scoring on 3 minutes and scored a second half penalty after Rob Edwards had pulled him down in the box. Paul Scott reduced the deficit to 1 on 66 minutes when Jon Newby and John McAliskey combined to set the defender up. Dwayne Mattis then delighted the home support with a wonderful struck shot.
But more poor defending from the Town defence allowed Martin Patterson time to strike the winner for Stoke with just four minutes of the match remaining. Even worse news for Town came with the injury to Paul Scott with 10 minutes remaining with a slight calf strain. Jackson who was trialing Andrew Hodges (who performed well) and Scott Brown, will not take negotiations further for either of them

Huddersfield Town: Phil Senior, Tyrone Thompson, Robbie Edwards, Paul Scott (Collins 78), Ian Hughes (McCombe 58), Andrew Hodges, Scott Brown, Dwayne Mattis, John McAliskey, Jon Newby, Adnan Ahmed (Young 83). Subs not used: Jacob Giles, Aaron Hardy

Stoke City: Foster, Wilson, Hill, Williams, Keogh, Wilkinson, Smith, Denny, Palmer, Patterson, Fisher. Subs: Jones, Sanna, Groves, Swift, Musgrove

Peter Jackson has today signed on loan Blackburn Rovers young Scottish midfield player Gary Harkins. Harkins joins on an initial one month loan from the Premiership with a view to that extending should Town want this, after impressing during trails.
Harkins is just 19 years old but Jackson likes his aggressive nature and quality on the ball, and the player has frequently played for the Reserves at Ewood Park. He is also tall for a midfielder and has appeared 17 times for Rovers Reserves scoring once and has recently just signed a contract extension with Blackburn, so will use the loan move to Town has experience
Harkins is a former Celric schoolboy and was signed at 16 by Blackburn. The Scottish player commented on his move to Town: "It's great to sign for Town. This is a good club...to join at this time is very exciting"
-
Peter Jackson has not ruled out a move for more players before Thursday's deadline, but has not commented if Gary Harkins will start against Swansea City this Saturday.
Jackson is giving trials to Tottenham young defender Andrew Hodges and right-sided midfielder Scott Brown from Everton. Both will feature in this afternoon's second-string match at home against Stoke City

Huddersfield Town - The Musical. Now there's a thought! But the thought is to become reality on May the 11th at the McAlpine Stadium. The stage production called "Hudersfield Town - The Musical" will join the list of different entities such as a steam locomotive to be named after the famous old club will have it world premiere at Bretton College, but will be in Huddersfield for one night only. Tickets for the production to be held in the Stadium's Banqueting Suite at just £5

The Huddersfield Ladies will play Leeds United in the Final of the West Riding County FA Cup on Tuesday April 20th at Woodlesford (near Leeds), following a 5-2 victory over Morley in the semi-finals. Jo Atkinson, Leanne Woodworth (2), Jade Robshaw and Sarah Kennerdale scored the goals that hammered Morley
-
Popular young midfielder Jon Worthington is just a single yellow card away from a suspension. But a suspension would only count if the booking came during the next three matches.
It would be the third ban of the season for the 20-year old Academy product who has missed matches due to a red card in the FA Cup defeat at Accrington Stanley and for incurring five yellow cards. There are no other Town players on nine yellow cards other than the injured Lee Fowler

Ian Hughes return from injury as been put back following a bout of food poisoning. Manager Peter Jackson was set to play Hughes in the second string fixture tomorrow afternoon at home to Stoke City.
Jackson has also been left "frustrated" in his efforts to bring in a loan signing. Jackson is targeting a midfielder but so far as failed in his attempts. Jackson has unit Thursday noon to make a signing should the manager want the player to feature against Swansea City this Saturday (15:00, McAlpine Stadium)
-
Town's match with Northampton Town (away) abandoned due to the weather on Saturday will be played on Tuesday April 20th 2004 with a 19:45. If you present your ticket stub from the original match you will gain free entry for the night game - those supporters who do not have the stub will have to purchase a new ticket. If you are unable to travel you can claim a full refund on presentation of the ticket stub before April 14th and any tickets remaining will go back on sale to Town fans. Town had a sell-out allocation on Saturday of over 1,200 supporters
-
Defender Martyn Booty has become the newest member of the backroom staff. Booty who joined the club in the summer, has become a coach and scout for the club. Booty who has struggled to make any impact in the first team has done well with the reserves and proved to the Town management that he has some excellent coaching and motivational skills. Booty will still be registered has a player and will continue to play and help coach the reserves - Booty will also continue to work towards his coaching badges
-
Former Town Chairman the poular Terry Fisher, has revealed how delighted he is with the way things are going at his beloved Huddersfield Town. Fisher who was part of the team to save the Terriers last summer and instrumental in bringing Peter Jackson back has Town manager, said "I'm absolutely delighted for Peter Jackson... and the team are playing some terrific football with great spirit".
And it is that kind of spirit the class of 2004 will need if they are to end the season with promotion. Fisher said that he misses the daily involvement in football, but has no immediate plans to return but once again beams with delight has he talks about his successful days back in 1994/1995 when Town gained promotion via the play-off's under Neil Warnock
-
He was once Town's assistant manager and on the verge of taking the club into the promised land of the Premier League - he is now Director of football for Northampton Town, but what has not changed is his passion for the Huddersfield Town supporters.
Deehan who was assistant to both Steve Bruce and Lou Macari has called the Town fans "among the best there are" speaking of the vocal encouragement and massive following of the club. Deehan also feels Town have some excellent players and was saddened to hear of the injury to defender Nathan Clarke who Deehan rates highly. In fact whilst at Aston Villa (assistant to Graham Taylor), the Midlands club actually tracked Clarke and almost put a move in for Clarke, but Clarke got injured (!) and Taylor got the sack and the rest they say is history.
One thing that has not changed is the terrific talent Nathan Clarke is and the great future the defender has ahead of him, hopefully he will return to fitness for the next season and take part in division 2 football - but again Town have a lot of football to play before that can be accomplished
-
It as been revealed that at least two Town fans suffered injuries after an advertising hoarding smashed into them during the game with Northampton Town. Town took a solid sell-out following to the Sixfields Stadium, but the game was abandoned on 38 minutes due to safety worries caused by the high winds.
Police has stated that the injuries received were only minor, but many have questioned the judgement of the officials to allow the match to take place in those conditions at all. Town fans will be able to apply for a refund should they not be able to attend the rearranged fixture on April 20th and those that travelled on the Supporters Coaches will be able to travel at a discounted tariff of £5, if they travelled to the original game.
Although the injuries to the fans were minor it could have been alot worse and witness reports have said that the hoarding which fell was substantial in weight and dimension and struck a man and woman
-
Town's opponents at the McAlpine Stadium this Saturday have released their management duo of Brian Flynn and Kevin Reeves. Welsh club Swansea City have revealed that both have left by mutual consent and comes at a time when the Swans are struggling to make the play-off's after leading the division earlier on in the season.
That could mean that exciting striker Lee Trundle could also want to be off, should the side miss out on promotion and would be an ideal candidate for a blue and white shirt. Alan Curtis will take temporary charge of the footballing matters, his first against Mansfield Town (tonight, away) the second against Huddersfield, who will be looking for a solid victory to put them back into the automatic promotion zone and revenge the 0-2 defeat at Swansea in September.
This news will come as a great surprise to all Swansea City supporters who rated Flynn highly, some have spoken of the current board as been hire and firers and will not have much confidence in the Swansea board

Last Match: Northampton Town a-a Huddersfield Town (result)
Town were trailing 1-0 to a fourth minute strike only for the match referee to do the correct thing and abandoned the game on safety reason's. A sell-out away following witness string winds which culminated in blowing some of the Sixfield Stadium advertising boarding's around on 38 minutes. Following which the match officials consulted with safety stewards and police and it was decided that the game was abandoned on safety grounds - after been suspended
Town started the match well when Tony Carss sent through a stunning 30-yard drive, but it was the home side that took the lead through Mark Richards moments after the Carss effort. Paul Trollope put Richards through who slotted the ball bast Town keeper Paul Rachubka
-
Although unconfirmed it is likely that the match with Northampton Town will be rearranged for Tuesday March 30th
-
All tickets for the match at Northampton Town will be carried through to the rearranged meeting, but should any ticket holders not be able to make the fixture a refund will be offered. Refunds will only be processed once a rearranged date as been agreed
-
The two managers were left to contemplate a frustrating afternoon as the match between the Cobblers and the Terriers was abandoned due to the high winds. Although losing 1-0, Peter Jackson was disappointed for the massive number of Town fans who travelled to the match and Jackson was left pondering if the match should have ever gone ahead.
Cobblers boss whose side was winning following the 4th minute strike was frustrated by understood the abandonment. Calderwood who saw his star striker (former Terrier) Martin Smith booed with every touch, was pleased with his side's display, but stated that although his side was leading 1-0 there was no done deal for all three. Both manager's look forward to the rearranged match and with Town struggling to cope with the high winds, a decent game is very much on the cards
-
Town who failed to make ground on non-playing Hull City on Saturday actually fell to fourth in the table. With Torquay United winning all three points, they leaped above Town into the final automatic place with Lincoln City closing in on the play-off place with a good win at Leyton Orient
-
Combative midfielder Chris Holland, who has struggled to forge his way into the first team under Peter Jackson, has left the McAlpine Stadium and joined third division strugglers Boston United on a 18 month contract. Pilgrims manager Steve Evans quickly moved for Holland, who made 120 appearances for Town, having signed in February 2002 from Birmingham City for £100,000, after Terriers manager Peter Jackson informed Holland that he was free to talk to other clubs as he would not be getting another contract at Town.
Jackson wishes the 28 year old well and will release funds to allow him to strengthen the squad with another loan signing next week. Holland has never really realised his potential, although he did feature for the England Under-21 side. No fee was involved in the move and is similar to the move of John Thorrington to Grimsby Town last week

A massive blow for manager Peter Jackson and the promotion plans with the news that Nathan Clarke and Lee Fowler have been ruled out for the rest of the season through injury. The two players went to a specialist yesterday afternoon who said that both will require surgery on their respective ankle injuries. Fowler will also need surgery on his hernia problem. Clarke tore his tendons in his ankle bone during the 1-1 draw with Rochdale, and had to be replaced on 34 minutes and will be out for 3 months. Jackson is "bitterly disappointed" with the news and this is just the latest injury to keep the quality defender out of playing action
-
Better news the manager welcomed back defenders Steve Yates and Ian Hughes to training today and Jackson hopes that they could be in contention for the match with Northampton Town this Saturday. Jackson will monitor their progress this week. Hughes has been out for months, with Yates missing the last week. Jackson believes he has enough defensive cover and will be looking at the younger players of the squad to shine in the promotion run in "There is also an opportunity for youngsters like (David) Mirfin to shine and for Paul Scott to establish himself in the first team"
-
Preston North End manager Craig Brown, who sold Pawel Abbott to Huddersfield Town, has defended his decision to allow Abbott to go, with Brown saying that the Polish star wanted first team football. Abbott has been called a "smashing fella and a very enthusiastic player" by the Deepdale boss, who said it was with regret that Abbott left. Brown has said the decision to go was the player's, as there was no way Preston were "kicking him out of the door". Brown told his comments to the official North End website

Former Town goalkeeper Martyn Margetson who is now at Cardiff City, is included in the full Wales side to face Hungary in Budapest on March 31. Margetson is a surprise inclusion in Mark Hughes International squad, although he is a very capable goalkeeper, at 32 years of age, he still has only won seven Under-21 caps for Wales

Town's third division rivals struggling Cambridge United have sacked out-spoken manager John Taylor following a recent run of poor results. An official of the U's said that the decision to sack Taylor, who was appointed in January 2002, as regrettable

Peter Jackson refused to be too downbeat following the disappointing draw with strugglers Rochdale. Instead he paid compliments to the battling spirit of Dale, who deserved the point with Jackson admitting that Town "could have easily won or easily lost the game". Jackson said that both sides could have clinched it late in the second half and was critical of match official Mark Clattenburg, who was roundly booed at full time by the Town faithful.
Jackson said that the Durham official "broke up the rhythm of the game" by constantly stopping the match, but Jackson did state that Town failed to play at their best against a determined Rochdale team "fighting for their lives". Jackson looking ahead to the next game (the tricky away trip at Northampton Town, this Saturday) by saying that Town are in a excellent position and that it is a big game for the Terriers. Jackson felt the 1-1 draw with Rochdale was not two points lost
-
Jackson is hoping that he receives positive news from the specialist (Professor Rolf) on the fitness of Nathan Clarke (who got injured during the first half of the 1-1 draw with Rochdale) and of Lee Fowler. Both will see the specialist this afternoon about ankle injuries and Clarke looks like he has torn ligaments in his ankle, with Fowler struggling to train for weeks with ankle and hernia related problems.
The hernia problem is something of a concern for the Town management with the Welsh Midfielder expecting to need an operation to sort the problem out, with Town physio Lee Martin stating that the rehabilitation time will last beyond the end of the season.
Fowler however will see Rolf about his ankle to do some exploration work and maybe even some strengthening work. Should either play be out for a lengthy time, at such a crucial time would be a massive blow to manager Peter Jackson's plans and the loss of quality defender Clarke could have a massive effect on promotion for the Terriers, although Paul Scott is a decent understudy (Scott replaced Clarke last night)
-
The Terriers will be taking a full allocation of 1,200 to Northampton Town for the Division 3 clash on Saturday at Sixfields Stadium. Town will be looking to emulate the 3-0 victory over the Cobblers like they secured at the McAlpine Stadium in September in-front of yet another massive away following. This match is all ticket, so anyone without a match ticket are advised not to travel
-
Hull City have given Town 3,400 tickets for the match at the KC Stadium on April 24. The tickets that go on sale on March 22 are priced at £15 adults and £8 concessionaire. There will be no tickets available on the day of the match. For Leyton Orient there are 3,100 tickets and just short of 2,500 tickets for the match with Kidderminster - which is all ticket for visiting Town supporters
-
Rochdale Steve Parkin took the positive's from the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town last night, and spoke of how Peter Jackson and Terry Yorath said how well his team had played. Parkin was once again happy with his side's performance although felt they had done enough to take all three points

Last Match: Huddersfield Town 1-1 Rochdale (result)
Huddersfield Town still may not have lost to Rochdale in the league, but they were a long way from recording a first ever victory over the Lancashire club at the McAlpine Stadium last night, where a Anthony Lloyd goal grabbed Town a deserved equaliser. It was a frustrating match for the Terriers who once again struggled to make an impetus in attack against a relegation threatened side.
Rochdale had done nothing but defend and frustrate Town in midfield when they opened the scoring through Greek player Leo Bertos in the 39th minute. That was the first attack from Dale and it was the architect loan man Willo Flood who went on a delightful run to supply Bertos who smashed the ball past Town keeper Paul Rachubuka. Town lacked the fluidity of Macclesfield and when the goal went in for the visitor's it was almost like Carlisle again (last Tuesday), and thoughts at half-time must have been of the home defeat to Darlington earlier in the season at the McAlpine Stadium.
Thoughts of a third home defeat however were ended shortly after half time when Lloyd grabbed his second goal of the season with a headed finish following good work from Andy Holdsworth who supplied the cross for the number 3 to head home - the way Town started the second half will have been a tonic to Peter Jackson, who must have given his players a blasting at half time.
Town took the game to Rochdale from the start, and it was amazing that the Terriers did not score in the opening 25 minutes of play. Strikers Andy Booth and permanent signing Pawel Abott combine well in attack, but failed to find the target and captain Efe Sodje should have done better when he flashed an header wide after 3 minutes. Booth had two chances to add to his 11 goals of the season, but headed wide on 20 minutes after just putting a stunning strike wide.
The referee did not help the game to flow, consistently booking players needlessly and prevent any form of play. Town players might have let frustration get the better of them, but Sodje, Tony Carss and Holdsworth all found their way into the book and Sodje was lucky not be sent off after an altercation with Rochdale striker Grant Holt who would have also seen red.
The Terriers domination in the corner count failed to win them any goal reward although they did have 10 shots on target. Town forced 9 corners in the game (6 from the first half) but it was Dale who almost snatched a late winner, a Town defender cleared from the line and Rachbuka needed to make an excellent save to deny Dale sub Gareth Griffths. Town also had a great chance to secure all three points a minute before time, when Carss, Sodje and Terriers sub John McAliskey all had efforts blocked before Town won their ninth and final corner of the game.
Four points from the last nine against relegation threatened teams is not promotion material, but Peter Jackson will take heart that other teams could only draw or lost last night, but Town lost ground on leaders Doncaster Rovers and Hull City who claimed excellent victories last night.
Town will need to improve and battle hard on Saturday against a rapidly improving Northampton Town side who are forcing their way into contention for the play offs. A worry for Town though is that classy defender Nathan Clarke had to go off injured on 34 minutes with a leg injury, so Jackson will be assessing how bad that injury is.
But credit to Rochdale. They came to the McAlpine and showed the type of passion that could keep them in the football league. Steve Parkin, the Rochdale boss will be delighted with the point, which they richly deserved and how his side prevented Town from playing any fluid football.
Rochdale preferred it scrappy and that thwarted Town's attempts for a 14th home victory of the season and the delight was all to hear from the travelling 819 Dale supporters (in a decent crowd of 10,884) when referee Clatenburg blew for full time. With some of the 'hanger on' supporters coming to this game - which helped to swell the crowd to a positive 6 figure's, hopefully more will turn up for the forthcoming matches for the important run-in - which could still very easily result in automatic promotion for Town

Huddersfield Town: Paul Rachubka, Efetobore Sodje, Nathan Clarke (34), David Mirfin, Anthony Lloyd, Danny Schofield (79), Jonathan Worthington, Anthony Carss, Andy Holdsworth, Pawel Abbott, Andy Booth
Subs: Phillip Senior, Jon Newby, Paul Scott (34), John McAliskey (79), Rob Edwards

Rochdale: Neil Edwards, Shaun Smith, Danny Livesey (46), Greg Heald, Wayne Evans, Willo Flood (87), Gary Jones, Scott Warner, Leo Bertos, Grant Holt, Lee McEvilly

Half-Time: Huddersfield Town 0-1 Rochdale
The shock is very much on the cards at the McAlpine Stadium with third bottom side Rochdale in the lead at half-time. The lively Leo Bertos gave the visitors the lead after 39 minutes, which could result in a first win for Rochdale in 6 matches, continue their 100% winning record at the McAlpine Stadium and gain a first ever league victory over Town.
Town have been too direct and let the frustration of missing chances in the opening 25 minutes of the first half in which the Terriers have had 6 corners. Andy Booth (2) and Efe Sodje have had the three best chances for Town who have dominated the possession, done a lot of attacking, but not really tested. Sodje should have opened the scoring in the first 3 minutes but his header, when well place, went wide.
The goal for Rochdale came thanks to Dale debutante Willo Flood, who is been watched by his club manager Kevin Keegan this evening. He went on a terrific weaving run to supply the pass which Bertos, who tormented Town at Spotland in September struck the ball past a stranded Paul Rachbuka - the first Dale attack.
Town need to get back into the game against a Rochdale side who have defended resultantly and Town need to take more of a command in midfield and take the game to Town. The Terriers should have this game won by now, but find them behind. Peter Jackson was forced into a change on 34 minutes when Nathan Clarke went off injured to be replaced by Paul Scott.
Andy Booth and Pawel Abbott have tried to combine well and force pressure, but the Town pressure as not resulted in any real cut chances, and like on Saturday manager Peter Jackson will be far from happy with the first half performance. The Lancashire club looked in disarray before they scored, but once they had secured the opening goal grew in confidence and the Terriers are in a real dogfight now, and if Jackson's men are to secure anything from this match, will need to improve
-
Team News: Huddersfield Town v Rochdale
Peter Jackson names an unchanged side for the visit of Lancashire club Rochdale who have a 100% record at the McAlpine Stadium, but have never beaten the Terriers in the league in their history. Rochdale will be looking for a point at best, with Dale manager Steve Parkin saying that the Terriers are very capable at home and strong at set pieces.
New permanent signing Pawel Abbott makes his home 'debut' but will be looking to continue his rich scoring form he showed whilst on a month's loan, and loan goalkeeper Paul Rachbuka will continue in goal.
Rochdale ring the changes to their side with new signings Wilo Flood and Greg Heald starting whilst top scorer Kevin Townend is dropped to the bench in what appears to be a complicated number of changes from the Lancashire club.
Efe Sodje captains the Terriers, whilst Rochdale are captained by 'keeper Neil Edwards

Huddersfield Town: Paul Rachubka, Efetobore Sodje, Nathan Clarke, David Mirfin, Anthony Lloyd, Danny Schofield, Jonathan Worthington, Anthony Carss, Andy Holdsworth, Pawel Abbott, Andy Booth

Rochdale: Neil Edwards, Shaun Smith, Danny Livesey, Greg Heald, Wayne Evans, Willo Flood, Gary Jones, Scott Warner, Leo Bertos, Grant Holt, Lee McEvilly

Match Preview: Huddersfield Town v Rochdale
Rochdale have never beaten Town in the league and manager Peter Jackson will be hoping to maintain that record. The last time the Lancashire outfit visited the McAlpline Stadium they knocked the Terriers out of the League Cup with a 1-0 victory in 2001.
Town will be looking to continue their recent good form but improve on their performances against lower opposition. A week ago they went down 1-0 at Carlisle United on Saturday they hammered Macclesfield Town 4-0 so the Town supporters will be hoping that it is the latter team that turns up.
Peter Jackson will continue with the same side that beat the Silkmen on Saturday with new signing Pawel Abbott leading the line with Andy Booth. Steve Yates is still out injured so David Mirfin will continue alongside captain Efe Sodje and Nathan Clarke in the centre of defence. American loan goalkeeper Paul Rachubuka will continue in goal to face Dale who will feature two new signings.
Rochdale boss Steve Parkin has made two signings on Monday. Defender Greg Heald will replace the injured defender Greg Burgess in the centre of Dale's defence and new loan signing from Manchester City Willo Flood could also feature - the latter more likely from the bench.
Town have a doubt through Tony Carss, but Jackson is hopeful that Carss will be OK with the injury to his hip to face Rochdale. Jackson is delighted to be able to have a consistent lineup, because he believes this will help to gain consistent results. With 30 points to play for, starting tonight, Jackson says that every game is a cup final and although the Terriers currently sit in a good position they need to continue to play to high standards to achieve promotion. Jackson also wants an improvement in the first half tonight from Saturday and continue the form shown in the second half. He also feels that despite their lowly position, third bottom is not a true reflection on how good a side Rochdale are. Peter Jackson will have stirred his charges up, because at this stage in the season winning your remaining home games is vital, but with the boost of the permanent signing of Pawel Abbott, should boost the supporters and the players alike
-
The club are expecting a decent crowd tonight, with some predicating a 10,000 + crowd. With Town in sublime form and chasing automatic promotion and with Rochdale making the short journey from Lancashire bringing around 600 supporters Town are hoping to achieve yet another 6 figure crowd. Town 2,500 supporters to Spotland in January to witness a hard fought 1-1 draw, so a good number today will repay the faith shown in the club by owner Ken Davy following the purchase of Pawel Abbott yesterday

-
Parkin has injury worries ahead of what he calls a "touch encounter" at the McAlpine Stadium. Danny Livesey and Gary Jones both join Burgess on the Dale injury list. Rochdale will need to improve on their last performance which was a 0-0 draw with Bury. Dale were awarded a penalty by Wakefield referee Alan Kaye but Dale top scorer Kevin Townson missed the spot kick

Town have today emphasised the 'Going Up' campaign by making the astute signing of Pawel Abbott from Preston North End on a 3 and a half year deal. The sum which is said to be considerable and 6 figured, as not been disclosed, but Peter Jackson and CEO Andrew Watson wanted the Polish striker following scoring 4 goals in 5 starts during his one month loan spell
The signing of Abbott will be great news for Town fans and shows that owner Ken Davy is backing Jackson all the way for promotion with him personally financing the deal. However, Andrew Watson has stressed that the club wants to become fully self-sufficient and not relie on one person to bank roll the club.
Watson has said that the club is very ambitious and the board is only too willing to support this and the desire for promotion this season With Town in third place and following the signing of Abbott who scored 5 times in 8 starts for Preston North End, this ambitious signing should push Town towards promotion.
Preston paid Polish club LKS Lodz £125,000 for the player in 2001 when the then manager David Moyes was impressed with that he saw of the striker who is Yorkshire born. He struggled to make any impact in the North End first team and joins a Terriers side intent on promotion from England's bottom division

Officials of the club are actively seeking a new stadium sponsor, as the McAlpine Stadium is set for a rebrand in August. The rebrand is due as the sponsorship deal with building contract company McAlpine, who built the Stadium, officially know as The Kirklees Stadium in 1995 comes to an end and is unlikely to be renewed. The search is now on for the new sponsor looking at northern based companies and those in close geographical proximity to the M62 corridor, the club has confirmed that some companies have already been approached
-
Mirfield born actor Patrick Stewart, who is an avid Town supporter, has revealed that he will do all he can to help the club, but will not give money. He has watched many of the recent games and was at the McAlpine Stadium to see the 4-0 Pawel Abbott inspired victory over struggling Macclesfield Town on Saturday
-
Peter Jackson is to keep with the same side that disposed of Macclesfield Town when they play strugglers Rochdale at the McAlpine Stadium tomorrow night. Jackson who will be hoping that his new full time signing Pawel Abbott can continue his successful scoring form will use his full time move to push the Terriers closer to promotion. Steve Parkin, the Rochdale manager, will name his two new signings against the Terriers.
18 year old midfielder Willo Flood (on loan from Manchester City) and Leyon Orient's veteran central defender Greg Heald (joined Dale until the end of the season). Heald is definite to start the match with Daryl Burgess injured. Parkin, whose bottom 3 side faces the top three in the next few games wants his players to show passion and get the sort of result like they got at Swansea City, where the Dale drew 1-1.
Parkin is preparing his side for what he calls a "tough match at Huddersfield Town"
-
New signing Pawel Abbott has revealed three things why he choose to sign a 3 and a half year deal with the club. 1 The deal gives him security with a "big club", 2 He is delighted with the manager and the coaching staff, with excellent "enthusiasm.... good team spirit" and thirdly the supporters of our great club.
Pav talking about the supporters said "The fans made a massive part of my decision, they have made me feel very welcome. It's a famous club and I'm thrilled to be here". Abbott is aiming to score the goals to send Town to promotion and hopes to continue his rich scoring form for the rest of his Huddersfield Town career

Head to Head: Huddersfield Town v Rochdale
There have been 19 meetings between Town and Lancashire club Rochdale through the years, with 13 of them coming in the league. Of the league encounters the Terriers have never been beaten by Dale with Dale's only victory coming at the McAlpine Stadium in the league Cup back in August 2001 when they beat Town 1-0. The first meetings between these two old clubs was not until the 1973/1974 season when the Terriers drew 1-1 at Rochdale and defeated the Spotland based club 5-0 (a record victory for Town) at Leeds Road in February 1974.
The last league meeting was in the old fourth division, the season Town got promoted through Mick Buxton. The Terriers put five past Dale in December 1979 before completing the double at Spotland with a 2-0 victory in April. The last league meeting was this season when the Terriers took a massive following to Spotland for the midweek encounter. Paul Connor opened the scoring for the hosts in less that 1 minute, but Jon Worthington equalised in the 23rd minute following a stirring fight-back from Huddersfield.
Of the nine meetings at Huddersfield Town have scored a massive 20 goals (an average of 2.22 a match) conceding only 6 goals in the process. Overall the Terriers have secured an average of 2 goals a match against Rochdale. With Town aiming for promotion placed in third place and Rochdale struggling for their lives third bottom, this Roses Clash should be full of northern passion and grit.
Manager Peter Jackson will be hoping that his side can continue to maintain the goal glut against Rochdale and will be aiming for the 3 points from the clash with Rochdale. Town have never lost in the league to Rochdale so a bumper home victory looks likely.
However, with last Tuesday's defeat at the hands of struggling Carlisle United and the way historically Town sides struggle against the lower placed sides, this cannot be taken for granted. Also Rochdale have secure wins over Torquay United and Mansfield Town already this season

The Terriers returned to winning ways with a fine second half display which ended with Academy product John McAliskey's first senior goal on his debut. Reserves: Last Match: Sheffield Wednesday 0-1 Huddersfield Town (result)
The second string recorded only their second victory since September and their first of 2004 with a fine 1-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday. It was a positive result for the second string who had been beaten 1-0 at home only recently.
The goal came in the 68th minute through substitute John McAliskey who had just come on has a sub three minutes earlier. Jon Newby also had the ball in the back of the net for John Dungworth's side, but that was ruled on in the 27th minute. First team manager Peter Jackson was in the crowd to see good run outs for Newby, Chris Holland, John Thorrington (who was replaced by McAliskey) and other first team players. David Mirfin and Rob Edwards played the full game and there was a return to action for Ian Hughes.
Trialist Lee Simms played at right-back and late in the game Adnan Ahmed had an effort ruled off-side but Town secured the valuable victory
-
Andy Booth should be fit to face Oxford United in the tough away fixture at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday. Booth who injured his hand is reportedly to wear a specialist cast on the hand. Town are also hoping that around 1,500 Town fans will be with the team on Saturday. Jackson has revealed that he is still getting letters of criticism, Jackson said that he will answer them at the end of the season!
-
Pawell Abbott could be a permanent player at Huddersfield Town if manager Peter Jackson gets his man. Jackson wants to keep the 3-goal striker who is on an initial loan until March 14th. Abbott could stay the rest of the season on loan but that would count him out of any play-off matches, so Peter Jackson is keen to get him signed and quickly

Words fail to show how Peter Jackson was delighted with last night's win, has Jackson's enthusiasm was all to see. The 3-1 victory over Yeovil Town was the third in recent week's of solid wins over play-off rivals. Jackson says the squad is full of confidence ahead of the pulsating clash with Oxford United (away), and Town have beaten all the top sides, bar Oxford United this season at the McAlpine Stadium - although they still have Mansfield Town to play.
"It was a really big win for us" commented Jackson on another delightful performance from the Terriers. Jackson was delighted with the commitment and singled out Andy Booth for praise following his hard work last night.
Jackson was also delighted with his defence. Efe Sodje was the star, his pass and vision created the third goal which ended with Danny Schofield coolly slotting the ball over the visitors 'keeper. Steve Yates, Nathan Clarke and Anthony Lloyd all had good games with Lloyd also involved in the build ups to one of the goals. Jackson also said that the work rate of Jon Worthington was really good, another player involved with one of the Town's three goals, going on a darting run for the first goal of the evening

-

Last Match: Huddersfield Town 3-1 Yeovil Town (result)

Town secured their 9th victory in the last 12 matches with a stunning 3-1 victory over play-off rivals at the McAlpine Stadium, which moved the Terriers up to 4th place in the table and 2 behind 3rd place Hull City. The win a terrific one, came amidst a cautious first half performance but a second half which was stunning and fluid and Town's domination could have brought more goals for the Town fans that led a chorus of "The Town are going up" throughout the second half.
Another 9,000 plus crowd so Town take the lead through loan signing Pawell Abbott, as the Polish International striker smashed the ball into the back of the net. That came after Andy Booth could have opened the scoring on two separate occasion's in the half, his 10th minute header clearly crossing the line but missed by the officials. Adam Bishop missed a gilt-edged chance for the Glovers just before Abbott scored the opening goal in a tight even first half.
If the first half started slow but ended stunningly, the second was in complete contrast. Lively Town came at Yeovil Town from the start and Danny Schofield scored a quick fire double to send Town onto another victory. His first just 60 seconds into the second half rocked the visitors and with it their hopes of points from this entertaining clash.
Yeovil were well beaten by the time Schofield scored his first, Town's second. It came from great work from Anthony Lloyd who set-up Schofield to score on the half volley.
Town had the engine in the middle, the midfield firing well, and despite chances for the visitors it was Town who extended their lead on the hour mark, and then it was a matter of how many Town could have got. Schofield scored his second, he has had two very good chances to secure his second earlier on. Good penetrative work from Town captain Efe Sodje set the ball up for Pawell Abbott who slipped it to Danny Schofield who delightfully and stylishly flicked the ball over Chris Weale in the visitors goal.
If thoughts were moving to how many the Terriers would score, they quickly turned to a spirited fight back from Yeovil. Town allowed Gary Johnson's side to play (who used all his subs within 10 minutes of the restart) and with Town committing poor defending Gary Way gave the 350 supporters who made the long trip north to West Yorkshire from Somerset something to shout about with a goal. Yeovil almost secured a late second as they took the game to the Terriers, but Adam Lockwood's decent drive with tipped superbly over the bar for a corner kick.
On the final whistle the Town fans jumped for delight as they now know this latest victory moves Town towards the automatic promotion places and shows that they can dominate matches whilst grinding out impressive results. It was good to see a run-out for Rob Edwards who replaced the Dwayne Mattis just after the hour, Mattis starting his first game (second of the season) since the defeat at Scunthorpe United way back in November - that game seems years ago, and this is a very different Town side from the one mauled by the Iron 6-2.
Town look hungry, Town look energetic, Town look like winners and will not be scared to go to Oxford United on Saturday and hand Oxford their first home defeat of the season. With many scouts in the crowd, the Oxford official will have gone away with much to think about and much to contemplate.
Peter Jackson's side are playing quality football and can now clearly graduate from the third division and hold their own a division higher. Nathan Clarke was again a rock, Lloyd on the wing did well, Schofield took his goals well and the two strikers lively, with Andy Booth again working tirelessly. Goalkeeper Phil Senior had a quiet game but did well when called upon, but the star from this mighty and stunning victory was that of the highly impressive Jon Worthington, who deserved his warm reception from the Town fans when replaced late in the game by Lee Fowler.

Half-Time: Huddersfield Town 1-0 Yeovil Town

Pawell Abbott's third goal in as many games for Huddersfield Town as given Town a deserved lead at half time in a quality match. Town are having to grind out the result as Yeovil Town have proved to be tricky and stubborn. It as been mostly Peter Jackson's side rather than Gary Johnson's visitors who have been the attacking force.
On 10 minutes more referee controversy was seen at the McAlpine Stadium. Although Andy Booth, who worked hard again during the first half put in a solid header which appeared to go easily over the line the referee said no and it was Booth in action again later in the half when he had another towering header well saved by Yeovil goalkeeper Chris Weale.
As the game looked to be going to half time with a hard fought goal-less draw, Yeovil broke and with the Glovers Adam Bishop looking to score, Town keeper made a great save. From the next attack the two Town strikers combined, which resulted in Abbott drilling the ball past Weale and put Town into the lead.
The goal sparked a quiet and nervy home crowd into a loud and passionate chorus of "The Town are going up!". If Town can gain three points from this one, they will certainly enhance their promotion credentials.
The message from manager Peter Jackson at half-time, must be more of the same passion but to use the massive possession bias more to the advantage and put the game out of the reach of the Glovers

Match Preview: Huddersfield Town v Yeovil Town

Although the Terriers are odds on favourites to make it nine wins from their last 11 matches, Peter Jackson is under no illusions to how difficult the match will be against Gary Johnson's West Country side. Thanks to Yeovil's 4-1 home victory and Town's fixture falling foul to the weather the Glovers went above Town in the table and this is a difficult 6-pointer.
Peter Jackson will have some tinkering of his side to do, as they look to continue the good run. Tony Carss will be suspended for the clash with Nat Brown and Lee Fowler both injured.
Town lost down at Yeovil in late October with Glovers skipper Terry Skiverton and manager's son Lee Johnson both scoring for the home side on that cold Tuesday night, sandwiched between them was a goal from now departed Terriers striker Jon Stead.
That defeat was the first ever match for Yeovil Town and the visit to the McAlpine Stadium will be the first for Yeovil. But fear not, Yeovil will be coming to the McAlpine Stadium intent on producing what would be a shock victory and record a first ever 'double' over the Terriers. If the win at home against Town was memorable for Yeovil Town, any points taken away from the evening game with Town would be even more so.
Town manager Peter Jackson was bitterly disappointed that the players had a wasted weekend, although he had them training on Sunday. Jackson said that he would have had them training if the match with Carlisle United had have gone ahead - showing the respect the Town manager is giving to this match and the need to secure all three points.
Without a doubt, the Terriers who dropped to 7th in the table need all three points, with Lincoln City and Northampton Town hot on the heels of the play-off placed teams, Jackson will need to prepare his side for a difficult match against Gary Johnson's side that play decent football

Tomorrow night for Yeovil should see a return for Paul Terry - the brother of England defender John Terry. However, they will be without Nick Crittenden and striker Jake Edwards. Glovers manager Gary Johnson will also be able to select captain Terry Skiverton for the clash at the McAlpine. Skiverton who scored in Yeovil's 2-1 win in the South West felt no reaction to a recent injury on Saturday and Adam Stansfield should continue in the striker role following his goal form his return in Yeovil Town's 4-1 thrashing of Cambridge United
-
Former Town winger Ben Thornley could join West Yorkshire neighbours Halifax Town on a non-contract basis. The non-league conference outfit are hoping to sign the Manchester United youth product with Thornley not having a club. Whilst former defender the highly popular Jon Dyson has joined Farsley Celtic
-
Andy Holdsworth will return to tomorrow night's starting line up to face Yeovil Town at the McAlpine Stadium. -

Peter Jackson has said that tomorrow night it's all to play off and could be a key fixture. Town host 6th placed Yeovil Town, whilst 5th placed Mansfield Town host Torquay United who sit in 4th place. Jackson believes that the Terriers are in a great position.
It is a six-pointer and it is without doubt that Town will need to be at their very best against the Cidermen who are a very good footballing side and secured a great 4-1 victory on Saturday. Peter Jackson will be looking to continue the club's recent good record, 8 wins, 1 draw and a single defeat in the last 10 matches
-
The match with Carlisle United postponed on Saturday will now be played on Tuesday March 9th, kick-off 19:45. Those who bought tickets for the Saturday match and now cannot make it should consult the McAlpine Stadium ticket office
