Pre-Season Friendly: Huddersfield Town v Arsenal

"The Wenger boys are coming ..." Premiership giants Arsenal will be the principal pre-season match in the summer, as the Gunners proudly mark the Centenary of Huddersfield Town with an August contest at the Galpharm Stadium. The match which Town are calling the "pinnacle of the Centenary celebrations" and was revealed way back in April 2006 will have a number of commercial packages available - click here for details of the various hospitality experiences available.Match day tickets for the match on Wednesday August 6th 2008 (kick off 19:00) went on sale Wednesday April 16th, priced at £15 for adults, £10 seniors, £10 students and juniors £5. To date the hospitality packages and match tickets have sold very well. Arsenal's visit will be their first to the Galpharm Stadium, and their first since a 5-0 Leeds Road victory in a League Cup match in 1993. 14,275 packed into Leeds Road that evening for the first leg and to be fair it was all over at half time when the top-flight side went into the break 2-0 up. Ian Wright's hat-trick in the second half gave Arsenal a big lead. The return trip to Highbury ended 1-1 with Iain Dunn scoring the Town goal. Alan Smith recorded the 6th Arsenal goal of the tie. In addition to the match, Arsenal will present Town with a replica of their Herbert Chapman bust which is sited admirably in the halls of the Emirates Stadium (prior to that Highbury). Chapman was a sensational manager for both clubs. The winners of the match will receive the Herbert Chapman Trophy By the time of the Arsenal visit to the Galpharm the team for the new season under the new manager will be taking shape, and supporters can enjoy the beginning of a new era, a fresh chapter under the financial leadership of Dean Hoyle, following what is hoped will be record breaking season ticket sales.
