Brighton & Hove Albion (Away) | League One | Tuesday February 09 2010 (19:45 k/o)

Ticket and Important Travel Information

The Terriers make a long midweek trip to the South Coast to face Brighton and Hove Albion (rearranged from January 23rd due to Albion's continuation in the FA Cup). A 500-miles round trip to the Withdean Stadium is never the easiest, a Tuesday night arrangement for the majority of Terriers will prove almost impossible.

It is all ticket for travelling Town fans with the cost of admission as follows:

Adults: £20
Under 21: £16
Seniors: £14
Under 16: £13
Accompanied Under 10: £1

Wheelchair users are kindly asked to contact Brighton directly on 0845 496 1901.

The Withdean Stadium is a temporary stadium for the football club with Albion attempting to build a new stadium since they sold their former Goldstone Ground home in 1997. Once voted amongst the worst in England, the predominately athletics stadium as an 8,850 seating capacity with away supporters designated the West Stand. Such was the plight of Brighton for two years following the sale of the Goldstone they had to ground share with Kent rivals Gillingham prior to moving back to the Sussex Coast in 1999.

The club as received planning permission so hopefully for the club, and it's supporters they can commence the building of their new permanent home on the outskirts of the popular coastal resort.

The West Stand at the Withdean is perhaps one of the worst in the country for visiting supporters. Nothing more than a uncovered makeshift seating area for 900 supporters. But the friendly nature of the Brighton stewards help to make the bleak nature of the stadium a little more hospitable. The stand is set into a banking, separated from many other parts of the ground and a long way from the playing surface, given this is an athletics stadium by primary use.

Think Rotherham United, think the Don Valley Stadium, but much worse.

However, on a cold Tuesday February evening, 500 miles from home it could be a very difficult evening for Town fans if Town's recent Tuesday night performances are anything to go by.

Post Code: BN1 5JD (this is for the Withdean Stadium, the Brighton club has a separate contact post code).

Solid reserves in good win

A second string side littered with players with first team experience saw Paul Stephenson's side record an excellent away totesports.com League victory up at Middlesbrough. The side including new signing Krystian Pearce with Robbie Simpson and Theo Robinson leading the line took the lead from a corner on 15 minutes through Nathan Clarke.

Boro equalised towards the end of the first period, but two goals in two second half minutes gave Town a comfortable victory. The second from a fine free kick move which resulted in Robbie Williams slamming the ball home, the third a fine flowing move ended with Robbie Simpson stroking home.

The Terriers also offered a tial to 18 year old Taser Hassan who lasted 65 minutes of the contest.

Aussie International becomes latest Terrier

The Central Coast Mariners have today agreed to release left fullback Dean Heffernan to English League One side Huddersfield for the remainder of the 2009/10 season.

"Whilst wishing Dean all the best, we are now fully focused on the immediate goal of qualifying for the Hyundai A-League finals series," said Mariners Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman.

Heffernan became the 13th player to represent the Mariners after coming on as a substitute in the club’s second ever competitive match, a 4-nil victory over Adelaide United in the 2005 Club World Championship.

The 29-year-old went on to play 83 competitive matches for the club, 65 of those in the Hyundai A-League, scoring 10 goals.

Dean was born on May 19, 1980 and will wear the number 13 shirt at the Galpharm Stadium. He becomes only the second Australian born player to play for Huddersfield Town. Scott McDonald featured on loan for Town a few season's ago.

Young Liverpool striker signs

Liverpool reserve striker Nathan Eccleston joined Huddersfield Town during the past week initially until the beginning of March but that was extended until the end of the season. The former Academy starlet, who has recently signed a new deal with the Anfield club has featured twice in the Reds first team.

He comes to Town with the club recommended to him by fellow Red Martin Kelly who enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Galpharm Stadium last season. At just 19 he is young and ambitious with some Liverpool fans wanting him tried in their first team more often.

He will wear the number 36 shirt during his time with Huddersfield Town.
