04 2000: The site first went live on the Internet - initially on the servers of ISP LineOne - the birth of this site.

11 2000: Purchase of the domain www.barmy-army.org.uk.

04 2001: The site enjoyed it's first birthday.

08 2001: We signed up with FushionBot to deliver search and site map facility for the site. This search-enabled the site making it even easier for our visitors to enjoy the website.

05 2003: Awarded a Golden Web Award.

12 2003: The site moved it's hosting service to Yahoo/Geocities, removing the link with LineOne.

04 2004: Purchase of the domain www.thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk. and site rebranding. The site is now called This is The Barmy-Army and Yorkshire Courier Online.

04 2004: The site is now hosted on it's own specific paid-for server space, giving a much increased bandwidth and product/service offering to visitors.

05 2004: Relinquished the ownership of the domain www.barmy-army.org.uk - all email addresses changed to @thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk.

06 2004: Awarded a Golden Web Award.

10 2004: The site is renamed This is The Barmy-Army and copyrighted only to thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk after the closure of the company Yorkshire Courier. The site is rebranded thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk.

04 2005: April 2005 marked the Fifth birthday of the website.

05 2005: On May 16, the site revisited and re-established it's core meaning and as such created a Vision and Mission statement and displayed our goals on the site.

07 2005: Renewed the ownership of the domain, and hosting package extended for a further year with Bargain Host.

08 2005: The site had almost 1.3 million unique requests for pages, making it the busiest month in the history of the site.

10 2005: Extra sections brought to the HTAFC MircoSite. Including the Legends, League Table and removed "The Match" section.

01 2006: Launch of the World Cup 2006 MicroSite.

04 2006: April 2006 marked the Sixth birthday of the website.

04 2007: April 2007 marked the seventh birthday of the website.

05 2007: The site underwent a number of graphical changes.

04 2008: April 2008 marked the eighth birthday of the website - new logo and supporting logo introduced to the site.

04 2009: April 2009 marked the ninth birthday of the website.

04 2010: April 2010 marked the tenth birthday of the website. There are now over 250 pages of information available on our thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk web servers.

The site logo incorporates the site name which is the overall branding of the site in an elegant static image featuring to the right hand side Victoria Tower (on Castle Hill), a landmark of Huddersfield which also features proudly on the Huddersfield Town FC badge.

To add dimension of the logo we have used an artistic swirl/curve and continued the colour theme of the site (blue and gold) within the logo. "Thisisthebarmyarmy" is given a classic font in 'Vivaldi' with the ".co.uk" in the very simple 'Verdana' font which is used throughout the site.

Both the curve and the "Thisisthebarmyarmy" benefit from having a slight drop shadow to add a level of depth to the logo of thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk. Throughout the site the full logo maybe seen in a reduce opacity.

As part of the changes we have introduced an exciting addition to our site graphics. Below is the dynamic ribbon device "T" (using 'Vivaldi' font) which will feature as the 'cut down' logo of thisisthebarmyarmy.co.uk. The font and drop shadow is the same used in the 'full size' logo.

The main site logo will never change in it's size and will often only feature on the home/index page. The dynamic ribbon device "T" will feature in differing sizes throughout the site depending on the requirements. The colours will never be amended but could feature in animation/banners etc.

For those of you interested, the Pantone colours are Blue: '006699' and Gold: 'B9A685' - which appears in varying shades.

Why is marketing so heavily featured?

Marketing was the degree specialisation subject of the Webmaster of this site and so was seen as a been a central element of the site to enable other people to view the notes either as students or people that work in the industry or require some marketing help.

What is Huddersfield Town?

Huddersfield Town AFC ("The Terriers") is an English football league club established in 1908. The web team of the site is massive supporters of the club, and through this site wanted to help take the name of Town into wider audiences. The web team is delighted to say that through this site this as proved possible and is successful.

This site as been mentioned on local radio stations that cover Huddersfield Town, and has worked closely in the past with a BBC Radio Leeds presenter.
